Killa is played by Scott Adkins, the patron saint of DTV action. Chad Stahelski had been trying to figure out the right part for him in these films and came up with Killa. The fat suit and wardrobe are an homage to the crime boss played by Sammo Hung in SPL, a Hong Kong film also starring Donnie Yen. Without the makeup and the accent, you'd be able to clock Adkins' skills from a mile away.

The places Caine and John were shot seemed very similar to the places John shot the doctor in a previous movie. The doctor had to look badly wounded but the damage wasn't as bad as it looked. At the graveside, the dog seemed to look off-camera at someone. Just my theories, but you never know!
@Linator4
@Linator4 Год назад
Yeah, they explicitly mentioned in the 3rd movie that those were non-fatal areas. There’s no way he died from blood loss at least. Maybe the damage throughout the entire night caught up to him, but I think it’s a symbolic grave showing the legend of John Wick is dead but the man is free to live in peace. Either that or they’re continuing Caine/Akira’s rivalry, or just doing a prequel about John’s origin/early assassin days before he lost his wife.
@carl_consumer.of.reality
@carl_consumer.of.reality Год назад
@@Linator4The man went through the ringer in this movie alone. getting stabbed, hit by multiple cars, falling 4 stories onto a van, falling down like 40 flights of stairs. That plus the two other gunshot wounds, the final shot to the gut would definitely be enough. This is all also ignoring the fact he nearly died just at the end of Chapter 3 as well. Not to mention the physical and mental toll from the previous 3 movies. I think it's safe to say he's dead. Plus why would the "symbolic death" of the legend John Wick say "loving husband" if the real loving husband is still alive? And referring to the originao comment, why the fuck would the dog be looking off camera at John just for King to still be keeping the dog while John is still alive? Quit conspiring
@KaleRylan
@KaleRylan Год назад
@@carl_consumer.of.reality I mean the deciding factor is obviously just if they decide to make another or not. If this is the end, he's dead. If it's not, he's magically alive and it's a symbolic grave. I can't remember if they've said anything either way about it.

I think that's just called leaving a movie open ended. A lot of writers and directors do this so that they can pick up where they left off. In this case, I'm pretty sure the writers have said this IS the end, but I'm pretty sure they talked about being okay with picking it up later.

Dog was likely looking at some random crew member or maybe one of the dog trainers. As for John's fate, this movie was announced along with a fifth film. However, due to the nature of this film, the studio has said that if they can find a way to make a fifth one work, they'll do it. But for now it's basically over. Basically. There are still spinoffs like the recently released Peacock original The Continental, and the upcoming Ballerina movie, but John Wick is (essentially) over.

I love the Hong Kong Massacre / Hotline Miami overhead top down camera shots they used. The director said he was inspired mainly by the game Hong Kong Massacre and he wanted it to feel like that. Every gamer at that scene was pointing and doing the Captain America "I understood that reference." That pistol that they made a big deal out of as well? The Taran Tactical Pit Viper. The reason he had that reaction is because that pistol sells on their site for 7K. I saw some scenes I think of Keanu training with it at the range too, thing is crazy looking. I also like that while Caine is blind, any of the scenes that have him shooting show him throwing away like half of his bullets until the target makes a panic shot back at him, and then he zeroes in on the sound and finishes them. Neat little touch in his fighting style. Also loved the fact they used Gesaffelstein in the arch circle car shootout scene. That song bops.

He ran around Killa while on the ground to get more leverage on him while holding him and cause a lot of pain if he had his arm. it’s a legit wrestling/jiujitsu thing. Usually in wrestling it’s done after a sprawl, which is a counter to someone trying to get you to the ground. You apply a lot of downward force and hop back then spin around them really chick to be behind them. We see later in the film a lot of wrestling and jujitsu in his past.

1. No one just starts working for the table. The table doesn't exactly give you a choice. 2. They didn't figure out John was being helped, they went after anyone he had any sort of relationship of trust with, any old friends, etc. 3. Caine isn't just sitting eating for those reasons. He's a practitioner of work smarter not harder. He'll let everyone else kill each other knowing John will come out on top, then it's easier to find him. 4. Throughout the films, no one in public places notices or reacts to the killing... because the world of the table, the assassins, is just below the surface, hidden. We (the camera) exist in their world. We can see them, ordinary people can't. It's a cool way of showing the "underworld" of The Table. 5. There are some extremely insane car hitting people stunts in this one. And those are practical. 6. The craziest stair fall stunt I've ever seen. 7. Both have to discharge their pistol before another round can be fired. Because John hadn't shot his, the Marquis just had to stand there and take the bullet. And Caine made sure the Marquis freed him and his daughter in sight and hearing of the Harbinger. An extremely brilliant plan. 8. Winston, right at the end, shows a tattoo on his wrist, the mark of the Ruska-Roma... the family John belonged to. He says "farewell my son" in Russian. Some think it means Winston was his father. Not likely, more likely it's the general "farewell son of the Ruska-Roma" meaning. But still a cool little detail.

Adkins has been quietly making his name for the last couple decades as a primo stuntman and action star. He doubled as Deadpool in X-Men Origins Wolverine. He's appeared in the Ip Man series opposite Donny Yen, opposite Jackie Chan in Shanghai Knights, headlines the Undisputed movies, was the mook who fights Doctor Strange in the astral realm and gets crash-carted to death, and has his own franchise called Accident Man. He's a swell guy and a real character. Also, not for nothing, when asked in interviews about all the famous action stars like Donny Yen that he gets to fight, Keanu *specifically* set the record straight by naming Adkins in the same breath as Yen. Praise from Caesar indeed. 😊

They initially had him as a stereotypically named Chinese martial artist with Chinese clothing and all but he said if they wanted to keep him in the film he would build the character himself. The blindness, his grim sense of humor, his clothing, and even his name were all Donnie's idea.

That’s one of my favorite parts of this movie. It really shows that the table is a massive and old organization, no one is above the table. Characters like Clancy Brown’s expand the world and drive this point home.

Natalie, I for one am not convinced that John is dead. Didn't appear to be a life threatening wound. But the grave will stop people from seeking him out any more. There are 2 spin-offs being talked about, and still the possibility of a wick 5 is not out of the question. The 2 spin-offs are tentatively called The Continental - which takes place in the 1970s and tells the story of Winston and how he came to rise to his position. The other is called the Ballerina telling of a ballerina/assassin whom appeared briefly in the Wick franchise. Another rumor is that when we see Winston put his hand on Johns headstone and say goodbye, the tattoo on his hand or wrist is the crest of John's "family" fueling speculation that Winston was John's father. I guess we all have something to look forward to. Love your reactions and commentary.

One thing that I couldn't stop thinking about when watching this movie is, the Marquis is always accompanied by these secretaries and bartenders and waiters; these otherwise basic employees must be getting paid more than some CEOs, based on the level of trust required alone. Also, what would the hiring process for this even be like?

The DJ who gave out where John was and what he was doing was a throwback to the DJ from the movie The Warriors. Lynn Thigpen played the character when The Warriors was in movie theaters. And now I must again watch that flìck.

I thnk Reeves involvement in future Wick movies is over. BUT there is a new movie coming called The Ballerina starring Knives Out and Bond actress Ana De Armis (sp?). Seeing how well she did as a secret agent makes me think she is going to be awesome in the Wick universe.

Killa is Scott Adkins, even in a fat suit he can kick a 6'2" dude in the head. Scott is one of the most well rounded martial artists turned actors in the world today, most of his movies are low budget straight to DVD but he's been in big movies, he fought Dr. Strange in astral form and was one of the thugs on the bus in Shang Chi. Scott's best known role is playing the Ukraine MMA fighter Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed franchise that takes place in a Russian prison. It was before the Russian invasion of Ukraine but the movies use their political differences as a backdrop for why Yuri is who he is and why he's in a Russian prison. It's a redemption story, he starts out as the antagonist and becomes the protagonist by the end of his story arc but it's the fight scenes everyone watches them for, some of the best ever put on film.

The thing is, we did see him fall over but he could have passed out from blood loss or shock from pain. We never see his corpse, the next shot you see the gravestone. Winston could have faked his death so John could finally be free from the high table. The fifth film could be the high table finding out John is still alive. There are also two spinoff series coming out, The Continental and Ballerina with Ana De Armas.

But his "obligation to the high Table" was satisfied. Meaning they would have no reason to kill him now, as Clancy Brown stated "You are free."

@@carl_consumer.of.reality The high table does what the high table wants. In 2, he got pulled back in against his will when he was done. The high table thinking he is dead is the only sure way to get out.

Was Winston's last line at the gravesite, "Farewell, my son", literal? His wrist tattoo looked the same as the insignia for John's "family".
