@@zjek7582 True, he could have five but others argue that he only has four heads because of the old lord's talisman. I think he has five just trying not to start a war in the comments.
that would be the Chosen Undead the Cursed Undead would fall into a panic and start frantically scrambling through their inventory in search for the poison moss before the rapid fire tick damage poison melts their health away
The weird shit in darkroot garden takes me back to my first playthrough. Going from playing some of the most lackluster AAA titles on PS3 to being lost in Lordran like "whaaaat is going on???"
@@mrsgamer9218I remember having my mind blown when I figured out the basilisks let you attack the ghosts. Then imagine my surprise when I found out there was an item that let you do it 20 hours later😭
@@FoolOfDust94032 according to the Silver/Gold Serpent Rings description, serpents in the Dark Souls universe are thought to be "imperfect dragons" and symbolize greed and other kinds of extreme desire (probably inspired by the fact that IRL snakes "unhinge" their jaws and devour their prey whole then slowly digest it for days, if not weeks, instead of tearing or biting its pieces off like a bird/mammal).
This little guy is weird in the sense that you're not really meant to be fighting it. He's meant to surprise you with a ''Haha! gotcha!'' moment and pretty much die. The living tree in the same area is also weird, 99% of players will never know it can actually attack you or move itself slowly. The alien tentacle washing machine dudes with a thousand teeth remain the weirdest enemies across all fromsoft games to me to this day. Ds1 has so many ''okay but why'' enemies.
That's the game in a nutshell, really. I mean, think about it: We can hop in a painting, get bullied by buzzsaw skeletons or crow-women, and then a fluffy woman tells us to hop off a cliff.
There's only two in the game, and they stay stock still until you get too close and they attack you. Very easy to miss. Even if you run past them, they blend into the scenery and look more like vines on the tree until you actually look at them closely.
That's why I like Ds1, the insane amount of hidden enemies, among other things, is staggering. I remember the first time I saw this guy, or discovered about the Vagrant existence.
Interesting. Back legs have three claws each, front legs have four claws each, none of which are backwards facing like you'd expect from an arboreal species. There's also webbing between the claws. The length of the necks would also slow down communication between the two heads*, if they're neurologically connected at all, making it harder for them to coordinate with one another. Two-headed animals can occur in real life, usually as a special case of conjoined twins, and the two heads often compete with each other and fight. Furthermore, usually only one head connects to the stomach and it can cause health issues if the other head tries to eat, which it will. Two-headed animals sadly don't have a long life expectancy. *This is precisely why most your sensory organs are located so close to your brain, and why the same is true for most animals as well. The closer to the brain something is, the less "latency" there is between signals sent to and from the brain. By keeping the sensory organs like eyes, ears, and nose so close, the brain is able to process the information sooner and thus act on that information faster. This is also why some unusual animals, like octopuses, can have additional brains dedicated to controlling a specific part of their body, as it's able to take input and act without needing to consult the main brain, which would create a delay in reflexes. The idea of a two-headed creature having its brains wired together to act as a single mind actually isn't that fantastic, as that's more or less how the two hemispheres of your brain works. But again, the length of the neck would significantly increase the time it would take to send signals back and forth, compared to the absolutely massive nerve bundle (the corpus callosum) that connects the two hemispheres of your brain. It's basically the difference between running _hundreds_ of ethernet cables between two computers in the same room vs. using a satellite connections to communicate with a computer across the planet. It's not just a latency issue, but a bandwidth issue as well, and the two heads would probably act somewhat independently anyway.
I thought these were another form of cursed tree, I had no idea they had bodies or could fall! I just thought they were heads! Thank you for highlighting the details of this beautiful game.
@@KSasciaLv after seeing demons, big ass golems and whatever it's kind of disappointing, after all there's only 2 and you'll see greater things throughout the game
Fromsoft must be the only videogame studio to take the effort of designing and creating a mob... who will only appears twice! Not a boss, nor a "mini-boss", just a random creature you can easily miss... hum... a two-headed snake... Wonder if this supposed to reference Kaathe and Frampt (who were supposed to share the same body, according to some theories)?...
I love dark root garden because it doesn't feel like just some level with enemies, but more like a magical forest with his own fauna, those things are really easy to miss because you are not even forced to fight it, same with the tree that moves. Ds1 is my favorite for that kind of details.
Weird, random thought I had because of this thing just now: What about a mod that replaces every enemy type based on number of them that appear, flipped? Put all of the mobs in a table, sort them by appearances, then spawn the least common mob wherever the most common one usually spawns, and so on... Though this would probably just end up with a ton of very specific, rare, strong enemies flooding certain areas. Alternatively, just go with my first thought, size the lizard up 10 times and put it in random places around the world.
Lol, I was just doing a mental count-through of DS1 enemies the other day and totally missed these guys. I clicked on this video thinking they were from Sekiro or something.
Modder by the name of fromsoftserve made this (amongst so many many many other mods) even if you dont get the mod he does a lovely walking tour of that town in the video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OOYXQU_mjC4.htmlsi=ZeKmXaS4xrJnZOM8
I had an encounter with these guys the first time I played. I saw it and wondered for a second on whether it was evil or not, then the next second i cleaved it in two. Im Glad to find out months later that I didnt just kill an innocent young placidusax
Reminded me of the slim creatures around Mesmer today. I have thousands of dark souls hours and remember that these guys were at least not so terrifying as the tree men that chased you around in the garden. Thank you for showing them up close. They are beautiful. Peace
holy shit i remember this spot bcs i farmed countless hours for that giant sword and shield only to not be able to use them bcs i needed a ridiculous amount of strength😂
There's only 2 in the game and it's not a mini-boss or anything, they just modeled and animates that normal mob to just put 2 in the game and that's it...
