Thanks Nick and Matilda for your constant efforts to make such a good travel documentaries for us, to watch the beautiful parts of the world, sitting in our drawing rooms .
Lovely filming and drone work. You are encountering the isolation and vastness of outback Australia. Homo sapiens from Africa are believed to have reached the WA coastline about 65,000 years ago. BTW you must smell good to flies. Maybe eat more onions to change how you smell.
Hi guys... Thanks for this video. We wondered if one of you might have swallowed a fly by accident! We thought the river was beautiful. We really liked seeing the kangaroos, especially the sleeping one. Have you tried eating kangaroo since the first time you tried it? We will watch one more video before summer vacation... We look forward to seeing you and the sharks! CM2-A Kids and Jodi
oooh we did swallow flies by accident... hahahah protein intake... We love kangaroos, and did not eat any more since trying we hope you guys have a beautiful summer !
We pulled up in an 'aires' in Spain recently and the motorhome was swarmed by flies: I suspect from the nearby farm. We closed all the windows and doors but they still seemed to get inside ( and this is in a fairly new motorhome). After. an hour of killing flies and getting hotter and hotter. We gave in, packed up and moved elsewhere. I still don't know how they managed to get in.
Back in the ‘60s and early ‘70s I lived in Australia for a bit and I remember the flies well. However, the Australians began importing various types of dung beetles to eat the manure in which the flies were breeding, and some claim to have reduced their fly population by 90%. I don’t know if that’s true, but I was struck by how few flies you had to deal with vs what I remember. But then, I was mostly in Queensland on the east coast. The great Australian salute was a constant waving in front of the face. Took me a few weeks to stop doing that after I left.
Oooh I can imagine it could get crazier and we found the flies most crazy in the most remote places so they probably managed to get rid of them in the urbanized area
I didn't catch you telling why the lake was pink, so I Googled it. FYI. "When the weather and water conditions are just right, the algae produces pink or red cartenoids (basically a filter, like a pair of sunglasses, to protect their chlorophyll cells and help photosynthesis) which give the lake its pink colour."
🦟🦟🦟🦟Glad you guys are enjoying Australia! 🦟🦟🦟🦟Glad Albo runs like a top.🚙 Love the channel💖 hope the flies are gone soon. Cheers Enjoy some Austrian Meat Pies 🥧🥧🍺🍺🤠
Oooh! We did travel to beautiful Montenegro 🇲🇪 and that is actually during that trip that we decided we d do a world tour one day! But we did not do videos at the time! Beautiful place
Kk....I was away travelling myself so I"m playing catch up, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you didn't see anyone, because not many could endure those pesky flies!!!!🪰🪰
best get some spider webs on a stick then catch the flys then you can cook them and hey presto dinner is served just think Shrek and the princess lol see you next week
Campfire smoke provides sanctuary from the flies. We always prioritize getting a fire started when making camp in the outback. Another trick is to prepare your lunch in the early morning. This saves the pain of adding flies to the lunch menu.
I really enjoyed your readings Matilde, it’s important to remember way back to the original inhabitants of the Australian continent and their stories and legends, plus the early settlers who arrived in Australia, by way of shipwrecks. I absolutely love the colours and shapes of the “ laminated pancakes” and of the skies almost mirroring those tones at sunrise and sunset. And now from the sublime to the ridiculous : I have to say you really rock your fly face net and wear it with true French style Mathilde, Nick not so much, yet, 😅but as long as it keeps the majority of those irritating flies away that’s what matters.
oooh I love to read this! there is.a new video of australia just out in case /;) thank you for going back in the archives you ll have to tell us what you liked best
What a gorgeous place but the flies were making me antsy even on this side of the computer screen. I really admire your sangfroid in dealing with them. The only place I have been that's anywhere near that buggy is the North Woods of Maine in the summer. We had nets there, too, but they were only partially useful. One place we made a smudge fire of green tree limbs and foliage just to try to smoke the flies and mosquitos away.
aie aie up there it gets full of mosquitoes yes. at least the flies dont bite and that makes a big difference. with the net totally tolerable until you need to eat. hhhhahahahah
Good question! They don’t they literally just chill in you or go for your eyeball hahahaha honestly just the net for the head is great on the rest of the body it s not too annoying
Awesome video as always Nick and Matilda. So glad to see y’all back on the road again and enjoying and exploring such epic places y’all really know how to capture the true beauty of the landscape of each place y’all explore. @@NextMeridianExpedition Its a dry oil, so should be ok for your face as well. I once did an horse riding holiday in Northumbria England. I even put it on the back of the horses ears. Good Luck.

When I used to take my classes camping in Ontario in mid-June, we had to use those nets, too… Here it is blackflies that bite! The kids looked like they’d been in a boxing match when we’d go back to the city! I am so glad to see you guys back on the move… yay! The CM2 class will watch this episode this week 🎉🇦🇺
Yay! Albo is up and running again! Glad to see you are back on the road and once again producing fabulous videos for us all to enjoy. Best wishes and Bon Chance for your travels in Australia! 🇦🇺
