Recently i got an error while running an application This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. So i did complete research and found 5 ways to fix this file does not have a valid program associate with it for performing this action

Thank you so much!!! The sfc and dism scans worked for me! The scans found corrupted files and automatically repaired. There were 3 updates from windows when trying to perform the same task that I could not do earlier. I installed all the updates and restarted the computer and it worked!!! Really appreciate your kindness and patience in doing this very detailed and helpful video!

In search box when I'm searching cmd it is not showing the cmd App and when i try to open with right click it is showing error "that this file does not have any app associated with it for performing this action "

In which drive you are facing the issue?? Yes formatting c drive will fix out the issue

Take ownership of the folder. Watch this tutorial : Folder access denied you need permission to perform this action [Solved] ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SisHOjAOxbw.html It’s pretty normal if you unable to delete because they are system files are OS won’t let you delete. If still you unable to succeed proceed to next step but as far as I concerned taking ownership help you delete the folder

@@LotusGeekNow I am able to delete that cmd file but the problem ( this file does not have program associated with it) is still same .I don't know why.

Try running following command in Cmd: Sfc /scannow Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth One by one and hit enter and than restart. By the way please provide the location of the folder that you wanna delete

@@LotusGeek I have a script that coverts text to voice. So when I Run the script, the media player should play the voice. But it shows the error, 'The file doesnot have the app associated with it..' In my personal laptop , I don't have one drive so the script file is stored in C drive. So there it works well. But in my Office laptop, we have all files stored in One drive. So when i run the script, it shows this error. Hence the issue is with One drive having the script file , when invoked it doesn't opens the media player app and showing this error

Try to copy that script from one drive to desktop or sync that script with desktop so that it is available on one drive as well as in to it desktop. As desktop sync is enable even on office PC. It’s giving you the error because that script is placed on one drive where it doesn’t find an app to run which causing you the said error. Player and script should be on the same side to prevent that error. One more thing try to change the association type by right click and choose properties. Choose the option “open with” and select your media player

@@LotusGeek I have desktop files too associated with onedrive. Already copied the script file and tried from there . Atlast found that all the files in my office pc are stored in One drive. Even those desktop files :(. I checked the opens with option. All are perfect.
