I really liked how each step of the way, he left an escape route… thinking this is my escape if I need it. This flatlander got nervous when I had to fly to the KC airport with towering buildings beside me, I’m definitely gonna try mtn flying some day…with a good instructor like this guy!
Mountain flying is beautiful! I learned to have a recognizable landmark when doing passes and give enough room on turns in case you need to bail or turn around
Hi Chris, So much better than flying around Colorado, Wyoming or Utah. Loved the parallel then turn technique that you taught me last June. Throttle on! See you next June.
Even though I've never actually had the honor of meeting you YET. I can't think of anyone that deserves this more than you do Chris. You always go out of your way to reach out to help people you've never seen before and expect nothing in return. I truly wish you and your family many more blessings to come and thank you so much for all you do!
I climbed Denali this summer and flying in and out of the glacier was a huge highlight of the trip. Nothing seems to be able to capture the scale of the terrain there and everywhere you look in the central Alaska range is just jaw-dropping.
Wow. Simply amazing. I am taking a mountain flying course here in Colorado in September. My wife and I are excited about the possibilities after getting the proper training. Keep this great content coming.
I’ve been to Alaska on a cruise and pictures don’t do it justice. The shear beauty it is just awesome and your videos too.....Thanks for sharing them too.
Totally blew me away at the pure awesomeness of those mountains as you were flying thru them. All I can say is WOW 🤩. Thanks for taking me with you. Take care and be safe.
God amazes us. And to think that He tells us are minds can't even conceive what He has prepared for those who love him. 1 Cor 2:9 Simply amazing! This flight was so awesome. Thank you for taking us with you! So incredibly beautiful going over that pass. Like you, I'm awe struck at such beauty. What a gorgeous day! How long did you have to wait for this day? I sure hope you have more footage of this day.
Wow - what a beautiful day you had in Denali ! These views are incredible, not matter what. One doesn't realize the scale, unless you experience it in person.
Awesome, what little I’ve explored there, that whole area is amazing. Not too often you get a clear day up there without winds that time of year. Awesome footage!
@@angleofattack yes yes! it looked that way and has been my experience the one time I flew thru there, I wasn’t as brave to floss the gap at 8500, I went thru at 11500.
I like the way the CFI gave frequent sit reps to ATC, which would be useful if you made an emergency landing and did not return to base. Stunning scenery!!!
This is one reason I want to get my pilots license... one day I hope to spend more and more time in AK. I absolutely love AK. And Flying is such a cool way to explore.
So beautiful Chris. Tears to my eyes too. The only place in real life where I have experienced something similar is flying in the south island of New Zealand in winter, much closer to home here in Melbourne, Australia, but the highest mountain is only about 12,000’ compared to Denali 20,000’. The thing that struck me the most in NZ is the lack of a horizon! Now to get on to MSFS and replicate your flight with Ultra settings! Cheers.
That was amazing and spooky at the same time! For someone who fly's around Minnesota and it flat heading straight for that rock wall and then crossing the pass was unnerving sitting in my chair, cant imagine how it was in the left seat! Beautiful scenery for sure
Hi Chris, This was worth the wait! Great video! Don’t forget to reserve some time for us to fly my wife’s Bonanza the third week of next June. I want to floss the gap with you. We do have oxygen and could get a clearance to circle to FL 200. Would love to get videos of the top.
Such a beautiful video, well done! 😎 The most beautiful thing about mountain flying are indeed the stunning views, which are priceless! It is however sometimes quite challenging, especially approaching and departing mountain airfields. We fly a lot in the European Alps and also sometimes in Norway, which have all their special local wind systems and tactics. Unfortunately, several crashes occur in the Alps every year, which could be prevented by better mountain flying education. I guess, it's always good to talk with local pilots on weather systems, which can be quite different from place to place in mountainous terrain.
I flew almost the same routing when I was there in the winter of 2020. 747 pass was really impressive. We had blue skies and no winds the entire time. Impressive that some of these blue compressed ice columns are thousands of feet thick. Puts the dimensions of that range and mountain into perspective. Hard to fathom.
Just seeing this for the first time. I had the chance to take a mountain flight during summer of ‘94. We landed on Foraker glacier during the summer and the blue glacier lakes were spectacular. There were three climbing treks going up Denali. In 2015 I did some Rockies flying and, while very challenging, the vistas of Alaska are unlike anything else.
Thank You guys that was an Amazing Flight I Enjoy it alot from Sunn Hot Miami Area. Sorry I couldn't ever be there in Alaska even if I love it. I'm the Coldest Handicap peson in the world. Tell me what is the higher Temputre in Alaska during the Summer Months?
Hi Chris, when you are reporting position I take that is just on a CTAF frequency for other pilots in the area? Sorry for the dumb question, not familiar with the remote areas or mountain flying. Beautiful video man!
i just took my first discovery flight on Sunday and so excited to continue in lessons soon but i need to get money any suggestions on weather to wait and save or just do it once a week.
@@mwade1263 Buy Chris’ Private pilot ground school, you will learn a lot and pass your private written easily. Having taught many pilots my advice is to do it all at once while you’re enthusiastic, even if you have to take a loan to pay for it..
Great series! Nice film work as well! I have a new (ish) flight content channel on RU-vid, and I’ve had nothing but nuisance challenges with just the audio and video recording aspects, keeping cameras charged, audio recording etc. I have to respect your ability to manage this along with the challenges of your operations in that environment. Very well done! Questions: I see how they cover wings and cowls with blankets to mitigate snow and ice buildup and to try and insulate the aircraft, but there is no mention of engine preheating. How do they deal with this constant requirement? Especially in the instance of a prolonged period on the ground away from base? How would they preheat if the aircraft was stranded overnight? Etc. how are they accomplishing it at the base airport for the first flight of the day and after?
It is a dream of mine to one day get a bush plane and fly and help people around Alaska if such work is needed. Ideally a DHC-2 Beaver. I'm in love with that old girl.
Random question ... Do Pacers/Tri-Pacers not have sufficient cabin heat? I swear every time I see someone flying one in the winter they're always bundled up to the max.
Wow that pilot is very young and is able to fly that good! I wonder who taught him all of that? Is there a way to take a dump mid flight ? Any hatches to stick your buns out?
@@angleofattack Dude you have to get with the program I graduated out of Taco Bell you need to step up your game! I am at the next stage , 20 pork n bean tacos with salsa and 20 boiled pickled eggs chase it down with a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi ! Lets go flying!
