MatPat’s reaction to discovering that the entire Mystic Hippo booth was just a glorified Sony-mandated tech demo for the eye-tracking feature was so funny
@@Anna-pm3fq, I meant a game separate from the FNAF game more to actually display the eye tracking feature. I would make a separate sequence to start the game with where you stare at to unlock it with a little tongue In cheek reference if the game had to have it.
I love how a lot of the other FNAF RU-vidrs unlocked that room, turned off the inhibitor, and saw the sign but then didn’t know what to do. And then Matpat walks in, is shocked, sees the sign, turns off the inhibitor and immediately takes off the mask. That theory crafting really helped him know what to do right off the bat 😆
One of the few times he was actually quick when it came to game play. In Ruin, it took him close to ten minutes to figure out a "connect the dots" puzzle, but in this, it's instantaneous.
@@nathaniellasnetske613 Yeah he always figures out the (semi) complicated/lore ones immediately, but the basic ones fly right over his head. He tends to miss the trees for the forest (best way I can find to describe it) when playing games
The Vanny mask inhibitor part genuinely had my jaw on the floor when I first saw it. Makes so much sense. Yet it didn't even cross my mind at all until it happened. Well done, Steel Wool
even when I saw it coming the moment still felt so surreal and shocking because we hadn't seen what the room really looked like, and the reveal had a long buildup of tension which was released super suddenly.
Taking off the mask was honestly one of the best twists in a game I've ever seen. BioShock is still my personal favorite [From the games I know], but this is extremely well done
@@Midnight_Rein The best part is that he most likely does the same for his son too- getting down to eye level, I mean. He seems like such a great dad, and it shows unintentionally during moments like these. (Pardon my mini ramble, I find DadPatt to be very wholesome.)
@@B4TS1EMatPat unintentially preaches respect above all else. This didn't surprise me. Props to you however for seeing and picking something like that out. That speaks wonders about you as well.
MatPat during the Ballora mini game had me wheezing to death because not only did he refer to Ballora as a giant mommy stepping on him, he also basically crawled across the floor in intense concentration.
the fact that mat didn’t immediately jump on the princess quest iv machine is wild considering he was so excited by the other three games in security breach
Mystic hippo honestly seems like a hilarious jab at the fact that Sony tried to have exclusive functions in the game over what any other VR set had, and the game gave them their exclusive feature with something so hilariously pointless. That’s honestly the best.
I like the idea of eye tracking, but unless the game is centered around it, it shouldn't be a mandatory thing in games for the device. In fact, it probably hurts their reputation when people see the obviously tacked on features with no real meaning and figure out it was just the "cost of admission".
@Terradragoon true, but it's honestly a best case scenario here where because they didn't make it a key feature of the game, it made sure that the game was usable on every VR platform. If Sony wants to release an exclusive VR game that makes significant use of the eye tracking, they're welcome to. But they're not getting special treatment to have content locked behind a proprietary feature.
Mr.Hippo: Well my friend, it appears that MatPat has driven himself crazy in trying to find lore. I mean... It's not unusual for MatPat to do that. It's just really he's kinda being a huge nuisance to the Mrs. Now really it's not that I don't mind you helping her out, it's just... there's no lore here. So to just keep it short, sometimes a story is just a story and a small easter egg doesn't add anything to the lore.
I think mystic hippo only exists out of contractual obligation. She’s exclusive to the playstation version, so im betting Sony required them to make use of the eye tracking technology for this version. Steel Wool didnt want to lock actual lore or gameplay to one specific version of the game, so they fulfilled their required usage of eye tracking with a random tech demo. Hence, mystic Hippo.
Honestly prefer it this way than leaving big clues behind specific versions. At least there shouldn't be too much hidden behind things like this. Like for the Inscryption ARG we didn't need a playstation to solve the ARG, though there still were some console exclusive secrets and I think that's ok too
I _really_ would like this video to be brighter. As fun as it is seeing Mat stumble about in the dark, it's rather offputting when he suddenly glances aside into the darkness and goes 'Oh! Nightmare Marionette!" I mean, clearly _he_ can see it okay, but I'm seeing _nothing._
I even tried taking a screenshot and increasing the brightness to ungodly levels, but there's just nothing visible there. Whatever gamma or black level issue is happening in their recording is making everything that's slightly gray or dark into a flat black color with no detail.
It not just MatPat. Every video I've seen is ungodly dark. Maybe they could increase the gamma while video editing but it looks like an oversight of the game devs.
MatPat: gets disappointed that Mystic Hippo was just tech demo stuff 10 minutes later: looses his mind at the hard mode reveal completely forgetting that disappointment
I think the Candy Cadet story is about Cassie. Given that Roxy calls her name after she falls, she's not dead, but she is very likely scarred for life. Both mentally and, after a fall like that, likely physically.
The fact that there’s a corporate poster about the mask mean we aren’t necessarily playing as Cassie or Vanessa in this game. There are probably more masks than the one Cassie and Vanessa have if they have a poster reminding people to take them off when clocking out. That could also mean Cassie *and* Vanessa both have a mask, instead of Cassie taking vannys mask, *especially* if there’s a whole mask bot for them.
@@littlelibbitt87 Yeah I'm leaning towards Cassie's dad, but even then, what significance does he have to the lore? Why would we be playing as such a new and obscure character? I'm definitely excited for Mat's theories!
@@GmmBeasthis theory before this game was Cassies dad was the Bonnie mask bully in fnaf 4 and if you don't believe it there's evidence in this game that he's with an Easter egg with our character finding a bonnie mask and saying "this seems Familiar" in text you can see it play out on Dawko or Fusions channels or just see the text and mask in Fusions thumbnail
Candy Cadet’s line about how the young girl escaped the OVEN is really interesting to me. Because we keep seeing imagery of the 1983 fall fest, specifically during the carousel game where everything was on fire. I feel like there’s some sort of connection between the fire and the fact that the story said she escaped being thrown in the oven. Just saying she escaped seems like enough so I feel like the use of the oven was intentional in some way.
@@winterwine460 Well unfortunately nobody I’ve seen has found all the coins, I only know the full story because someone ripped all of Candy Cadat’s voice lines and uploaded it here on RU-vid. Maybe Matt will find them but no one else has so idk.
I feel like the Helpy medical game deserves some focus. I feel like the horror of what the "medical bot?" Is asking you to do to a hypothetical child is very relevant to the over all history of fnaf.
I honestly have to skip past those specific minigames whenever I watch videos of this game due to how uncomfortable the whole concept of it makes me ._.
@@epicredhot5675 yeah I started watching Marks playthrough and he went into such an over the top Markiplier character mode lol that I just listened to him goofing around because the first round was making me feel so weird about the entire concept too. It touches a theme that I cannot deal with in any horror game, that’s a few things that make me just not okay with it all and that nurse one was close
Steel Wool, knowing full well MatPat would overthink things: "Let's put in a funny story about a family dying hungry for not buying a pizza deal, as a tiny little jest" MatPat: "WHAT'S THE LOOOORE? Henry Emily's family?"
@@CJK_781 A family is a group of people/things, representing the animatronics. The deal was their immortality. The fact that the deal is for a pizza menu represents the Pizza Sim location, and since they were given the offer, that must mean that the family/animatronics already were inside the establishment. They missed the deal, meaning that they fell for the trap at the Pizza Sim location, and the "they all died" part is self explanatory: they burnt and were given their rest. (Except William OFC)
The first 5 minutes of this video is why you don't get overly attatched to your headcanon. Mystic Hippo just being a gimmic was the ultimate troll by Steel Wool. 😂
Well, a gimmick and a tech demo. The reason that Mystic Hippo is PSVR2-exclusive is because that headset has eye tracking, which not many headsets have. This allows her to correctly choose the card you're LOOKING at, even if your face is pointed elsewhere to trick her. She knows where you're actually looking.
It’s Sony’s fault for contractually demanding a eye tracking feature in the game. I think it’s really considerate of Steel Wool to not lock any extra additional lore behind what would be essentially a paywall for most people and instead made it this small feature that means nothing.
I think the story about the girl being tricked by the witch is to tell of Cassie is alive after the elevator falls. The story feels more geared towards her experiences in Ruin and specifying that she survives when Cassie’s fate was kinda vague feels like them trying to tell that to us.
@@tonyf4991I think it’s Vanessa because the scar as a young girl and being tricked could refer to how her father manipulated her as a child during the custody battle.
@@tonyf4991do we know how many endings it has? Don’t spoil any, I don’t have the game, but MatPat plays like I would anyways, so I’m just experiencing it vicariously through him.
@@breakfastisoverrated8351 two confirmed endings. And a possible third, but with how things look on how to get that one, it looks like just a glitch to get to the end credits.
Matpat avoided the sister location part of the game and slowly and carefully went toward the exit while getting jump scared many times. He is the type of careful gamer I am and then there is markiplier who spent a good long while going back wards and tempting to get to the stage and speed crawling to the exit 😂 I could never. I love when he finally gets it while taking his time and getting that courage to finish it.
23:50 I've been thinking that since Ruin. Not only was the mask different, but it was labelled "security mask." Kinda makes you wonder if Vanny was really the only one under Glitchtrap's control.
Apparently Mat also needed the subtitles, considering this is the first time he's mentioned the salvage dialogue in the Helpy minigame, when the voice talks about it the other two times xD
To be fair, even when many people miss details in the first busy moments like that, that line is said right at the start of the game while he might still be talking, is panicking over what to do as he’s not seen yet, or something else would’ve already played noise
Something that really caught my interest was that, during the first aid mini games, the subtitles for the robotic voice is labeled “Carnival Nurse”. Could that relate somehow to the “Carnival” mentioned in the developer notes of Ruin?
I love how matpat is so intelligent but sometimes still so silly 😂 he misses really obvious stuff to the point im screaming at the screen... even stuff i havent seen done before and im like.... put another cup underneath, put another cup underneath, PUT ANOTHER CUP UNDERNEATH!!
@vsGoliath96 oh im definitely not mad 🤣 its just frustrating when something seems obvious to me, you know? But then other things are not at all obvious to me when they are to others
It's interesting that once you die or win a mini game from the "real" world you end up back in the ar world with the fail or success screen. I think it's like ruin where it makes you think you're seeing the real world but there's still a chip in your brain making you see what the mimic or whoever wants you to see
AstralSpiff and MatPat's reactions have been my favorite so far. No bull and enjoyable to watch! A special mention to Dawko and Mark who also have unique playthroughs!
The 1st Candy Cadet Story seems to be irrelevant to the lore. Because the number of coins needed for the 1st story are the same as the number of coins in the 'lobby', it seems to only be there to tell the player how the coins/candy cadet works without spoiling the real lore-relevant story.
Mat, your big error with the theater level was making a chica blendee drink instead of a regular chica chug. It was just asking for a regular chica chug drink, not a blendee.
I like how mat always looks like he got into a fight after he pulls off the VR halo. Shows how brutal the gameplay can be. Lets you know why Dawko took a couple days off to breathe after his marathon.
Candy Cadet's first story I believe is about the Emily and Afton Families. Molten Freddy did say once, "One BIG happy Family." They had a deal, a chance that would better their lives, at a honestly cheap cost, but turned it down. The Afton' had their chances to sit down as a family and try to better the circumstances, but time and again, either through Michael bullying C.C., Elizabeth's deception or William's neglect, they all chose wrong, and now they're all gone. This story might be subtle confirmation that Henry's fire worked in cleansing the slate.
Would have been neat if Roxy's jump scare in the makeup game had whatever cosmetics you had placed on her. I'm not complaining, I just think it would have been a cool detail if they added it.
I’m definitely leaning towards the theory that Cassie is the one in the candy cadet story. But for some reason I almost wonder if it’s about scrap baby. Just the constant ties in with the character and her appearance after she was supposedly burned in the building. (A burning tomb for animatronics, an oven for a child) and how the animatronics were tricked into coming inside the building, maybe some escaped the fire? I doubt it but it’s just an idea that’s floating. *EDIT* OH AND THE MENTIONING OF SALVAGING. That’s just a theory…a 4 am theory
What I find interesting about the placement between SB and Ruin, is that it does seem to imply the inhibitors (and then possibly MXES) was actually set up after SB. Unless we just happened to never see any of the inhibitors in SB (of course game reasons they probably hadn't thought of it yet, but I mean lore wise).
I didn’t watch the whole ‘help wanted 2’ series on this channel when it came out. I saved it for another day. That ‘other day’ just happened to be the day that the goodbye internet video came out. I’m gonna miss you MatPat so much. You played a huge role in my childhood. Best wishes for the future ❤❤
For the witch story from candy cadet, I think it’s talking about Baby, explaining how she’s in this game and not 💀. Led by a friendly voice (Henry), thrown into an oven (trapped and burned, thought dead), escaped but was scarred (scrap appearance (though she was already scrapped so less sure about that), but possibly mental scarring from almost burning to death, not sure on this one)! It’s BABYS story!
I am fully aware I can watch all the endings and find all the secrets by now - but I'm holding out for these because I love it so much! Look forward to seeing the first ending 😁
I'm honestly kinda shocked Mat didn't realize he was in the fnaf 6 pizzeria earlier. The layout was the same, the music, the items you collect and place inside.
Did anyone else noticed that Chica doesn't have her voice box anymore? She had it in the other minigame a few days ago. Now in the movie theater mini game, she's broken and doesn't have a beak anymore. I noticed because she isn't talking anymore whereas in the other minigame, she complaining about how long the food is taking.
The Candy Cadet story about the witch sounded a lot like how a remedial chatbot would tell a story. Even the Pizza story sounded like a remedial chatbot that was coded to heavily relay advertisements.
my theory on the "help helpy" game is that helpy represents evan (or c.c.) think about it. "parental neglect", "unclassified trauma", etc. all things the crying child went though.
Im also curious why animatronics don’t attack you when they definitely see you. Like they let you “heal the child”, but if you “hurt the child” they jumpscare you. Lefty contains Puppet, which purpose was to protect a child (and then she was the one to protect the others). And if the C.C. idea is indeed true, then Scrapbaby basically let you “heal her brother”. Idk tho, the Pig animatronic seems confusing on this one, but he also was the only one of mediocres who wasn’t possessed by Golden Freddy
I’m surprised Matt didn’t notice earlier it says “due to today’s successful salvage there’s more money…” I forget the rest but that instantly jumped out at me when the robot said it when he first played dr helpy
On the topic of jump scares: this series has made me audibly yelp several times - loud enough that my sister came running in from the other room to make sure my DOG was all right. When she found out that it was me that yelped, she just laughed at me. 😅
While I Like the idea of candy cadet’s second story being about Vanessa or Cassie (and it still might) I fully believe it’s a retelling of Midnight Motorist and confirms that sound illusion disks were used to lure whoever out of the house. Just a thought!
Notice the name of the AI speaking to us in the Fix Helpy level is “Carnival Nurse” I still think the DLC will be Fallfest Carnival, with those circus animatronics that leaked as Funkos
Who else is liking these thumbnails? Seriously, I love them!! They're so fricking good!! Much credit to the editors and the crew behind the scenes!! Props to you all for the work you do.❤❤❤
Was sooooo excited to see Mats reations to the mask reveal!!! I'm so dang happy he didn't have it spoiled and we got to see his genuine reaction, it was amazing! I know I was so shocked myself, so heckin genius from Steel Wool, major props!!!
I find it interesting that Roxy Salon has broken mirrors (behind us) even in Vanny Mask (when things shown like they are during the events of SB, not Ruin) 47:03
Matt absolutely LOOSING his mind in balloras gallery was killing me! 😂😂😂😂😂 And the fact that his and marks gameplay in that room was polar opposite is so funny😂
I haven't watched any playthroughs so I can experience it as MatPat plays, so here's my theory: We're playing as Cassie. The fact Roxy's eye and hand are on the table could imply she didn't survive after trying to save Cassie, or at least got badly damaged. We're already down in the old, ruined pizzeria, which is exactly where we left Cassie after she "died" by the mimic. And as far as we know, Cassie is the only one with the rabbit mask. Though personally, I hope I'm wrong and were playing as Micheal Afton :)
Adding on, having to take off the mask to go into hard mode and without is easy, it kind of ties to the endings of RUIN, where if she kept the mask on, she would be able to go to a little fake life with Helpy and Gregory there, and if she didnt, she would actually have to run and "die" as it is the canon ending
I have a theory about the candy cadet’s second story: in my opinion he talks about baby… After she separated from Ennard, she was alone “in the woods”, either metaphorically, like emotionally, in the concrete jungle, or literally in the woods, and she was led in by a friendly voice, either a recording of her father, her brother, or Henry, a literal old family friend, and she was led to the furnace, and escaped, which is why we keep seeing her everywhere, and cassy is asking “what’s she doing here?”, because she escaped but she was supposed to die, but when she escaped she was scarred, which is why one of our eyes is missing…🧐
@@GendoRokabundi fnaf 6 had the portion of the salvages, which is what I suspect is the woods part where she is led to the oven by a friendly voice, because the salvage and luring was either done by Henry personally, or a recording of afton to lure them in (for revenge, or following baby’s dad in her case) or she just got there and herd Mike and wanted to make him help her again , only to be led into the oven
The candy cadet statement about an oven and a girl being tricked by a witch reminds me of fnaf 6 baby getting lured in pizzeria only to burn but maybe she escaped. Dunno just a theory
In regards to the CC story possible relating to Vanessa, I wonder if the "escape" was Gregory rescuing her in Security Breach from the fire, or "oven", but because the mask implants its wearer (as shown in Ruin), she's left with a permanent "scar" and may be able to be exploited again.
I think that the candy bot would be talking about Circus Baby because it says how she was burned in an oven. So my thought would be that Circus Baby drew Elizabeth in but before she was burned the chip was taken out and then her “body” was burned. I also think it matches the fact that Circus Baby has a big appearance in this game.
I’m more thinking that the first story talks about FNAF 6, a family (Aftons and Emilys) coming for a deal of their lives, but it not working out and they all die. It could be a way Steel Wool is confirming that the fire did work, and nobody survived. But just a thought
Can I just say that they did a fantastic job instilling a false sense of security with the mask, because as soon as Matt took it off and continued to play I got increasingly more uncomfortable and wanted him to put it back on. Well done Steelwool 👏🏻 I'm terrified and have trust issues.
