Am I the only one who finds it kinda funny that the mechanic to keep Funtime Freddy away from us is to gaslight him

I love how this game actually jumpscares MatPat while keeping him so focused on the lore potential 😂

I just want to let you know that when Mystic Hippo says "there is a new message for you..." that means there is a new graffiti around the room that gives hints to how to obtain the dolls in the minigame that was just completed. MatPat happened to find the secret the first time he played it and therefore did not get to see the graffiti that was left for him since it went away after it was found.

Cassie's dad being Bonnie bro would actually give him more of an incentive to want to be a technician for the company too. If he witnessed someone get severely hurt at the place, it might inspire him to try and prevent future incidents

The premise for the liquid death is that designated drivers or people that just dont drink can have this while hanging out with people drinking and not feel alienated. Unless other people look close, they wont know any better, and it cuts down on peer pressure to drink.

This game must be a rollercoaster for MatPat: he has a genderbend Mr. Hippo trying to scam him, ballerina minions trying to get fresh with each other in his office, and a massive lore drop pretty much literally being “handed” to him

I hope other people has commented on this but Matpat really needs to make his game brighter.

I love how MatPat just straight up calls Funtime Freddy by his voice actor, Kellen Goff. 😂

something I want to point out is that the achievement is titled ‘Remember Jeremy?’, which is different (grammatically speaking) to just ‘Remember Jeremy’. The latter is less of a question and more of a statement, as if the speaker wishes to keep what happened to Jeremy in mind to push forward, while the former asks if the listener recalls the person who is/was called Jeremy, as if they had history together

The fact that we have all completely forgotten that there were 3-4 people involved with the Bite of '83 is huge! Sure Mike may have been involved as the brother of the crying child - but his friends were there too and could bear the same guilt. Or say, a curse. 😨😨😨😱

I find it odd that when baby says “what makes you so special” it doesn’t sound overly accusatory like with moon. It sounds more like a genuine, curious question. Like she’s determined that the players character is special but she doesn’t know why.

Just another day where I watch every single GT Live Help Wanted 2 video. Love watching MatPat say some out of context things and get horrified.

MatPat finding new secrets and Easter eggs getting excited by them always makes me happy.

Jeremy is also the guy who guillotines his own face off with a papercutter in the first VR game.

It is horrifically beautiful the way Funtime Freddy disappears into the darkness just after being only barely visible even at like 3 feet away. Just disappears... Ah, so beautiful.

You gotta say, Steel Wool knocked it out of the park with this one. I know people have been unsure of them after SB and Ruin, but I've seen nothing but rave reviews for this and it keeps giving and giving!

I’ve always found it interesting how every Jeremy we know (I belive) of in fnaf looses at least part of his face, The bite of 87, the Beta tester with the paper guillotine and one of the main children (if you count withered Bonnie) so I always find it interesting whenever the name Jeremy comes up in lore

If it helps Matpat, I’m pretty sure no matter which doll you get first, you get the achievement ‘Remember Jeremy.’ So I don’t think there’s any lore relevance between that and any certain doll.

Getting into kinda a darker theory here, the dolls kinda remind me of of somewhat trophies. Like how serial killers would collect things from their killings to remember them. And how each plushie reminds me of each of the five kids, as well as the puppet. It just reminds me to much of some sort of trophy’s that maybe Afton made to remember each kid that he killed.

I love how this new game not only includes both serious lore about the V.A.N.N.Y mask, the online world and Glitchtrap. But also the fact that Fnaf transformers are cannon.

from what i’ve heard abt them, liquid death is designed to look like alcohol so that ppl choosing non alcohol options at events (for any number of reasons, including ppl who are recovering from alcoholism) where alcohol is served don’t feel “left out” or make themselves the targets of questions abt not drinking bc the cans kinda just blend in. also i believe the cans are more recyclable than bottles like matt says.

I find the ‘Remeber Jeremy?’ achievement so interesting, because it implies that we (the player) knew Jeremy (presumably the one that possesses Bonnie) at some point in our life. If we are in fact playing as Cassie’s dad, it would make sense with the timeline because Ruin Is hypothesised to take place around the late 2020s-30s, which would make Cassie’s dad around 50 (or younger, since Cassie implies he’s no longer around) so he would have been alive at the time that the children, including Jeremy, went missing. Maybe Cassie’s dad and Jeremy/Bonnie were friends? Maybe even related?

If we're implied to be playing as Cassie's Dad, "Remember Jeremy" could be refering to the Jeremy from the first Help Wanted, the tester who cuts his head off.

The Roxy getting aggressive when you don't look at her thing is very simar to Foxy from the first game's mechanic

This is the FNAF game that Matpat deserved. A genuinely scary game with lore that finally makes sense 😭

I feel like Candy Cadet's story implies that you are playing as an older Cassie in the game. Lured by a witch (the mimic) and escaped at the end of Ruin, leaving a scar (a traumatic memory that would haunt her for years). Then returning older and wiser to seek the answers she never got as a kid, but instead of just getting answers to her own questions, she gets answers to everything, in the form of the cryptic, twisted puzzles and games that we all know and love. There are a few things that support this theory. First, when u take off the VANNI mask, the computer terminal is the same as the ones from Ruin, but older, dirtier, rusty, implying that some time has passed. Second, the AR from the VANNI mask is updated from what was seen in ruin. Instead of fuzzy objects that can be passed through by putting on the mask and the light grids showing the structure of the computer with the mask on, there is a solid world that seems to be real until realizing the mask can be taken off, breaking the illusion of what was thought to be real. This may imply some software updates to the network which again would have taken some time. Third, Roxy's hand could be there because maybe Cassie went back down to the mimic's prison to retrieve what was left of Roxy after the fight at the end of Ruin. After all, Roxy was Cassie's favorite, I don't think she would want to leave her down there, but would instead bring her back up to what's left of the pizzaplex. This one is a little bit of a stretch, but it makes sense to me. Finally, the line about the fazwrench being something familiar would also make sense for Cassie. More of a side note than supporting my theory, but thought I would mention it. I feel like this theory makes a lot of sense with what's been seen so far. I have only been watching MatPat and Mark play so far so maybe there is something later in the game that tells us more. If you have read through all this, thank you for listening, and please help try to get this to the eyes and ears of people who can make sense of my rambling. Or should I just make a reddit and post all this on the theory page?

Loved the little liquid death banter. Yeah I think a lot of people think it's alcohol at first cause of the packaging. Gotta say they got some pretty good teas too, not just plain water. Slaughter berry is my favorite tea they got.

I find it fascinating that the only characters that have said “what makes you so special” so far are baby and moon. Also interesting how those are the two that keep showing moon as sun, himself, or eclipse. And baby through the plush babies who also keep showing up don’t know exactly what that means but it’s just something I noticed

Fun fact, the Liquid Death brand was made for recovering alcoholics who want to still blend in with their friends during parties. So, when everyone else is drinking beers out of cans at places like parties, concerts, or the like, the recovering alcoholic can still feel like part of the scene with his can of water. (And yes, it was made with a target demographic of men due to the societal pressure around drinking beer in certain settings)

Rewatching the Security Breach episodes, and I finally clicked why Freddy wouldn’t tell Vanessa about Gregory; Safeguarding. Trigger Warning: Abuse (I know this game has many dark themes but still) Gregory is clearly scared of Vanessa, regardless of staff status Freddy would be programmed to look after children from potential abuse, with his programming issues maybe he has been hacked to be over protective- as this is clearly a case of Gregory shouldn’t be there after hours so Freddy would normally disregard, however if Freddy is in high alert he would want to protect children for the smallest of reasons, ie Gregory wanting to avoid her “she’s trying to get me” “I don’t trust her”, maybe these phrasing triggers Freddy’s safeguarding protocols? Would also explain why Freddy offers a quieter way of communicating, so the potential abuser can’t hear. I made the link to FNAF 2 animatronics being linked to a police reports so this higher level safeguarding in Security Breach would make sense. Probably already thought of but still worth the comment haha

I love how markiplier thought that the wires or “bamboo forest” according to matpat was tentacles 😭

Honestly, as interested as I am in the theory itself GTLive playthroughs are even more exciting to me.

the chattering teeth is lore based, it ref the bite of 83'. the minigame's value highlights this prize. chattering teeth as a prize is so odd and somewhat unusual in the series. it stands out to me. especially having Freddy's teeth.

i think is really interesting how in ruin we were all like “what’s so special about cassie’s dad? why is he relevant?” and now the game is making that exact question all the time… food for thought? perhaps mat is right and we are playing as cassie’s dad

Hey MatPat, what if you tried the chattering teeth on the head of the doll? There are enough references to the bite of 1983, and it just seems odd that they're both on the same table.

The something new was actually the hint to be able to get the doll (Ballora on the door where the doll is). The hint gets, essentially, crossed out when its gotten. You just managed to get it without the hint. You need all the dolls for Princess Quest.

Liquid Death is actually meant to look like beer. It's for those who do not drink alcohol but don't want to stick out at a party or gathering. Hence the design of the can and it being 16 oz as most craft beers in cans were coming in at the time.

Mystic Hippo was sending Mat to the new hint that would've appeared on the door where the purple splotch is, had he not already found the secret that the hint was leading him to. (1983 in the keypad.) When you find the stuffy for each hint, the hint blurs out. The Helpy on the ceiling is another hint. You have to hit all the Helpies and Blue Stars in the Foxy Float level. *If you find all the stuffies from the hints, you unlock a mini-game that leads to the secret ending.*

Why do i feel like candy cadet's story about the family dying was just a built in advertisement by William to make the kids convince their parents to buy the pizza.

If you look at 30:16, there’s a crumpled up piece of paper and see that it looks like a Vanny mask. Mat picks it up as well as the other crumpled piece of paper on the side and he sets the Vanni piece of paper down. When he moves out of the frame and comes back you’ll see that the crumpled piece of paper Vanni mask is looking back at you.

For anyone curious, the type of doll is called a “Poppet,” which has historically been used in witchcraft as a representation of someone. You either stuff or affix items to associated with the person or your intent (eg, bay leaves for money, rusted nails for bad luck, or even “just” a lock of hair) to stand in for them. Western media often mistakenly labels them as “Voodoo dolls” because of horror movies’ use of the very real Voudou religion as the stand in for “scary, evil black magic.” (Which goes all the way back to the independence of Haiti and is why we recognize it so easily!) These doll representations of people are seen throughout the world with the main difference between them and idols being that idols are worshipped while poppets are actively used in rituals. (Kinda like a tiny effigy from something like Midsummer or the one Halloween Simpsons episode!) Just wanted to let people know because it’s a very common and understandable misconception, but Voudou has active practioners just like any other religion! Tl;dr, Voudou practioners may create poppets and Voodoo/Voudou dolls, but most poppets are NOT Voodoo dolls because Voodoo/Voudou dolls are only made by people practicing the Voudou faith.

Since Yendo is responsive to the Bonbon audio, is it possible that he couldve been a prototype of funtime freddy? I'd imagine if he was scrapped, it be due to either being faulty or too aggressive to complete their "mission" (capturing kids) ? Or something else

Man, like most here I have already watched the entirety of this game in other RU-vidrs, back and forth. But idk there's something warm and comforting about GTLive. Everyday I watch these videos and I'm even sad the next one isn't out yet. Just keep being yourselves, that's exactly your biggest strength.

If I recall correctly, both Moon and Baby ask, "What makes you so special?" Which makes me think they are possibly connected in some way. And with Sun and Moon suddenly becoming these characters that appear alot now is kind of saying, "Hey, I'm important you should look into me." On a side note, Sun and Moon are jesters, while circus baby is a clown. Clowns and Jesters are similar but not the same thing.

Regarding the "Remember Jeremy?" raised a sort of question for me. If we are playing as Cassie's Dad, in this case, the Bonnie Bully from FNAF 4, what connection would he have with a Jeremy? They could be referring to Jeremy, one of the missing children who possesses Bonnie. This may be a bit of a leap, but I think that maybe this could be hinting that the soul that possesses Bonnie could be Bonnie Mask's brother. This could actually explain why after all these years, he has come back to the old pizzaplez, in a sort of, Micheal-scenerio. He came to research what happened to his brother, and seeing what happened with the Crying Child, went to work there to uncover its mysteries, and make sure that no one else would be hurt. Perhaps this would also solve other questions, like why he hates Monty so badly. And throughout the game, it gives a bit of evidence of this, and perhaps one of the endings proves it as well?

I'd like to point out that the doll we found for 'Remember Jeremy?' doesn't look like it was originally a Bonnie doll rather that someone (maybe Jeremy?) went through later on and put a tiny bonnie mask on the doll. It looks like the bonnie face has like a string going around the head so it looks like it looks like a mask purposely. It makes me wonder if its not meant to be a representation of Bonnie or an Afton at all but rather someone connected to Bonnie (besides Afton obviously) Quick edit: i also think this adds to the Bonnie bro and Cassie's dad are the same person theory. I wonder if we are playing as Cassie's dad and the doll is meant to represent him? Mat said it himself at 53:04 when he said that whoever we play as was "there for the death of a small boy (crying child(?)) I'm also pretty nifty with a fax wrench." That describes Bonnie bro (seeing the crying child die)/ Cassie's dad (the fazwrench) perfectly. Also think about it, who was used to represent Cassie's dad in ruin? Bonnie. I think that playing as Cassie's dad in the game would also explain why we have a vanni mask, he was a worker at the pizzaplex and maybe he was a worker here to.

At this point, that story seems so clearly to be about Cassie. It's literally describing Ruin. Not to a T, but a young boy led her through the forest? How much you wanna bet that young boy ends up being the witch? Which, in the case of Ruin, was the Mimic pretending to be Gregory. I could be wrong but it does NOT seem to be about Vanessa at all

Not only is there so much support behind playing Cassie’s dad, and Cassie’s dad being the teen who wore the Bonnie mask in the bite of 83, but *spolier for later in the game* Bonnie’s mask being in the chest and our character saying “this looks familiar”, i think also proves definitively this is that teenager and who we are now playing as.

I would consider the dolls to be effegies of the characters. Not quite voodoo dolls, but definite memorials.

Important to note that while most of CC's story seems to be pointing towards Vanessa, the whole "meeting a boy at a time of darkness" bit gives me the vibes of what's-her-face's backstory that was revealed in Ruin. The "river" may symbolize her tears and the "jagged trees" could be more metaphorical of anger or something. So she might be a potential candidate for who this young girl is.

So about the canned water...I work for my city's fire department and apparently BudLight makes canned water. The city ordered like 50 crates of the stuff and we've gotten in trouble several times from people taking photos of us at fires. It will honestly look like we're just chugging in the middle of a house fire 😂

I know Candy Cadet's story feels very new character centric and moving forward with this era of the games. And I 100% agree. I also wonder how much could be meant to look back. A girl lured in by a voice... almost put in an oven... just managed to escape. It could tie back to theories about Charlie and Elizabeth going elsewhere instead of dying/being a part of the tangle. Scrap Baby looks like Circus Baby & the Puppet is missing the tear streaks. They were lured to that last pizza place with the intent to trap & burn them... like in an oven. It might even be hinting towards whatever was going on in the post it room and the bots arranged like the afton family.

20:42 Not sure how relevant this is, but the story of "following a boy over a river, through a forest, to a house" is nearly identical to the common rhyme taught in grade school to help learn prepositional phrases "Over the river, and through the trees, to grandmother's house we go." However, more notably, while this phrase was coined in a Thanksgiving Poem, it often has the meanings of either: 1. Completing a task with great difficulty, or 2. Losing one's mind, Going Insane. Candy Cadet is literally confirming for us that, the moment the "girl" accepted help from the "boy" she lost her mind, went insane, and was, well..., lost in the woods.

So just a tip for you, MatPat. The Plush Babies will appear within the office and be perched on the upper corners while playing Flash light tag. I think they also appear behind you and under the desk as well. I’m going off of what I saw in Superhorrorbro’s play through, so I might be missing other spots that you need to know about but that is the extent of my knowledge.

Just wanted to point out that the normal mode is technically behind the VANNI mask, and hard mode is technically reality. Wonder if that extends to the minigames to some extent too

I wish that in this game, your prizes were items that you could mess around with, like in the first game. For example, a minirina and a tennis racket. Thats 60 hours of game play right there.

the remember jeremy achievement happens no matter which ragdoll thing you get first. doesn't matter if it's the puppet, freddy, bonnie, etc that you get first. Just pointing it out since you were seeming to try to connect 1983 to the achievement when the code is both an easter egg as well as the secret in order to get the doll on that level. but there's still a possibility they chose to make that sequence of actions to get the doll with the code for a reason.

Yendo initially would go away when you flipped the monitor up and down just like Golden Freddy in the first game. Still odd that Yendo is here and highlighted. The fact that he replaced Funtime Freddy in the unmasked version also is curious.

I love how he stumbles into the path to the secret ending just fiddling around.

I feel like this is one of the only games Scott actually has decided who we are playing as. Usually it feels like he just males stuff and decides important details after.

I don't know if anyone has said this already but i think candy cadet's story could be about Mrs. Afton, her being lured in as a young women could be her falling in love with William, her escaping before getting put in the oven could be her leaving William before she ended up inevitably dying, and her coming back could be what Matt theorized in his timeline, about her coming back and taking over the fazbear company after William and Henry died, though im not entirely sure how the rest of the story applies to her

I'd like to point out that every animatronic in this game seems like themselves except for Baby. Why would she go from "I want to escape this place" in sister location to "i like it here, it's safe." If mat is right that this is the mimic ai in the game I think it would make sense that the mimic isn't trained properly on Baby since she got kicked out of the tangle. Idk but that line from her didn't make sense to me but i could be overthinking it

I don't know if this helps the lore in any way, but I was watching Horrorscoped's video of Fnaf Ruin's mechanics and what the player can't see. There's a hallway out of bounds in part 1 of the game that was apparently scrapped but you can still walk through if you glitch into it. There's graffiti on the walls, and one graffiti says 'Jeremy'. Idk if Jeremy was just painting his name, or if someone else went to the ruined Pizza plex to remember Jeremy, someone who went there before Cassie did. Probably her dad, or whoever we're playing as in this game.

I love how Funtime Foxy's attack is running up to your door and scratching at it like a cat that wants inside your room

i didn't realise how religiously i'd end up watching fnaf videos when i randomly started to look at some lore videos when the first game got released. have still never played a single one tho

Hearing MatPat hypothesize that the girl in Candy Cadet's story is Vanessa and not Cassie (who I'm pretty sure it is) just makes me want to speedrun this myself so I can get the full lore to prove my own hypothesis
