Operation Harsh Doorstop is like Garry's Mod for Tactical FPS games and it's slowly becoming something really interesting... @Bluedrake42's developer update videos • I can't believe you al... • It happened...
@@jerememes270 I'm sorry our team didn't ship a AAA quality fully-completed game when we launched a project as early access. I hope you understand that these things happen when the development team is poor and the game we make is free. Your refund of $0 is in the mail.
Exactly. The industry as a whole is in a rut as everybody is trying to find the fastest way to the bottom of the quality barrel via emulating the microtransaction hellscape of the mobile gaming market. And BI left us hanging so....
it's not quite there yet. i've tried to play a few times and it just hasn't been very good. really hoping with time they can turn it into something awesome because it had the core there.
Holy crap, LevelCap played my mod? Thanks for checking out Plastic Factions! I'm glad you had a good time. And yes, as the game develops and adds new features, I plan on taking full advantage of them.
u got plan for tank?? I heard of this game for ages but it look soo Gmod without purpose tank chopper stuff. I already played the game year ago btw but quit cuz there not much to it yet
I feel like this is the future of gaming industry since as we have seen the big development studios are really going after the money (understandably so) rather than focusing on the actual playability of the game and the gamers interests. Good thing is, aslong as there are decicated gamers with knowledge of how to mod these things, the gaming experience keeps expanding. Really excited to see where we are in couple years with these kind of projects, developed from gamers, to gamers.
THat explosion at 3:54 , the dirt being blown into that air like that. THAT is a great explosion effect. I don't remember seeing anything quite like that realism.
@@SirQuacksalotthe1st BD42 talk about wanting to implement as a based game mode rather than a mod. Since the game is alpha state according to dev also lack content and game play loop so just wait and comeback or you can support them through donation.
I’m hoping one day we see games where the reload animation can differentiate if you’re in combat or not. For example, if I’m in the heat of a shootout I want my player to be able to reload faster as if my life depends on getting another mag back in to return fire, compared to being off in the distance where I have a bit of a buffer to take my time. I’m sure there’s some coding or system that could be put in place to make it work.
Insurgency Sandstorm does this, but with the characters voices. They change what the comms say when you are in combat Vs when nothing is happening. Selecting “Affirmative” when suppressed will say something along the lines of “FOR FUCK SAKE GIMME A SECOND!” Game devs can program the player character to react to stressful situations and changing the reload is definitely doable!
@@CcSmokecC spt tarkov had a mod a long time ago that was call adrenaline, and that basically what it did, it gave you painkiller effect while shouting voice lines and reloading faster
I find this awesome especially seeing/hearing level's superb critique of the game so far. I so support bliuedrake's work so far as well as his future plans for the game. Way to go my man and kudos to u and ur team.
Thank you For covering OHD I love it especially because it is free and it is trying to challenge the AAA games that are available in the Market right now.
This is good journalism! It's nice to finally see someone make a less biased review of OHD. A lot of the videos on it by other YTs have been by Squad content creators and they usually have extremely negative opinions about it.
thats because they are not wrong. I dont even play squad, but OHD lacks content, bottom line. after a few hours youve experienced the entire game. I understand what they are doing with mod support, but games like Arma popped off in the modding community because the game had a large content library to build inspiration from. currently there is no reason for the average player to hop in and play the game because there is only 1 NA server populated at any given time and only 3 of 4 total that have any people in them at all. The game just needs more to do and it will get more players. Then the mods will come naturally
@@mtbSTL But Arma is already at the third installation which is Arma 3. I think Arma Reforger will also have large amount of mods that are already been made. Just waiting for it to release and people will upload all kind of mods. OHD is still in early access, it was develop by a small amount of people and it's the first game from them.
I thin its a matter of time until something comes up and the modders complete some projects and we see the game take off, can see a bright future for this game as they deserve.
Really wasn't a fan of this game because of the bare UI and lack of failsafes (no spawn protection, no event notification if an objective gets captured, etc.), but I'll admit that I haven't spent much time tinkering with mods. The bodycam mod definitely looks like it would be fun on a multiplayer server.
@@-mako-6018 Well it's already got a Halo mod in the works and you could probably just port the giant Squad star wars mod to OHD since it uses the same engine. They already have all the assets.
7:15 COD WWII did something similar with the Hordepoint game mode. It's a regular Hardpoint mode, but zombies are spawning all over the place, and attack both sides.
i downloaded that it was ok due to hardly any servers available to western united states. There are like 4 servers i could play on and 1 of them actually has players in it. maybe i'm missing something but there just isn't enough to do in the game right now and i got tired of playing the same 4 maps on the 1 server that has players. can't justify keeping it on my computer until more stuff to do becomes available.
I've seen your previous video on this. It seems like it has gotten a lot better, I'll give it a try for sure. Edit: Played it, sensitivity is way too high even when set to the lowest setting, literally unplayable.
I have to lower it to the point i can barely use the menu. Literally every other game has properly working sensitivity, I've never had this happen even in the crappiest of itchio games or whatever.@@HGKEntertainment
a zombie extraction game would be fun.. figth to defend strategic positions against hordes.. moving to place to place till a heli extraction come up... it can even have pvp, were factions figth for those strategic positions while the zombies bring the caos to the equation
You know what would be really good… a small tactical team based game like Americas Army 2.8 SF - it was amazing and the best Americas army game and there just isn’t anything the same these days
needs more work on optimization when i was trying to scope felt like fps drop dramatically and firing my weapon at enemies seem like a slight delay before hit detection.
Nah, I just started up this game again. It's actually the funniest game I've played in a long time and has so much damn potential. FPS in my eyes has been slowly dying and only hope the community keeps it alive
Nevers played, but seens a mix of Insurgency Sandstorm with Squad... Looking ahead for this project... Squad takes too much time to really play... You spend 5 to 10 minutes to start some infantary combat... Between loading map, choosing class, waiting for other players, pick a truck, travel the world to get an object and then start combat. Gets EXTREMELY boring after some hours of gameplay. Some maps take ages to get some action. Insurgency has GREAT gameplay, very stable and even taking a LOT more action than Squad, some people still think it´s an walk simulator (to newbs can be very easy that). Still, very, very, very solid gameplay.
@LeoFreitasUBGE Yes, but compared to squad, this game is not fleshed out at all, not to mention the theatres of war for purchase. I swear that was a selling point a year ago and it's locked behind $12

@@totesmcfloats9348 Squad had a big Kickstarter campaign and has been in development for almost a decade. This game has been out for what, less than a year, and has always been free. They are definitely not in the same category.
This actually looks quite good now but my worry is that with so many different mods, doesn't it dilute the player base a bit. There could be an amazing mod but no one's playing it because they're too busy trying all the other mods.
The biggest downside to the game currently in my opinion is related to gunplay / recoil. I know the game is ofcourse highly moddable, but the base, vanilla gunplay is very arcadey feeling. The guns have almost no recoil and are generally very very easy to control. Being able to spray full auto comfortably in a 3x scope whilst also being able to drop enemies in 1 or 2 bullets is just a really bad combination imo. Hope to see some reworks there
I tried this game, I had high expectations but some community servers are freakin unplayable and lagging every single time, maybe it’s because I play in europe and nobody knows about this game in eu
I was watching him work on this project and its definitely not the same as advertised but im honestly more hype than just a squad clone. Also i swore he gave up and desolved the idea
@@DonJohn87_YT mostly going off vibes of an 8month old update where he sounded little less thrilled and almost as if he was uninterested then my algorithm full stopped his channel.
i just want the ai to not see me in places they couldn't possibly be looking,. you go for a sneaky flank an the second you pop up an ai sees you an is firing at you is bs
I think it's in the work. It's still in early access so it's a bit annoying to be in your situation. I just want to weapon switching to not be so slow. I swap weapon and it need a few seconds just to shoot.
Game isnt great in my place because there are no good servers, but singleplayer is not bad, im having a great time with mods when im waiting with my friends or next class
@@mltharaka , map texture and maps buildings, sounds, vehicles, some weapons (the AK-47), green name on players, are all the same as the first squad version, they've probably use models from Squad to creat a new game.
@@skizo1208 if you have any source that they are using the same assets from squad then you should report it to OWI because that's illegal. And they will take legal actions against it
@@mltharaka I don't have any external sources, it's just that I have almost 4000h of squad and know it well (all updates since 2015). The Squad SDK is free on Epic Game so anyone can use it. Maybe they have authorization, who knows. They've already made several games with the Squad SDK, "Post scriptum" (now called Squad 44) and "Beyond the wire".
@@skizo1208if you don't have any sources or proof then how are you so sure Lol. Squad doesn't even own any gameplay features, Game modes etc. It all came from project reality which is a bf2 mod. So nothing in squad is original
