I use the same ladder system guys as I don't want peeps getting onto my rack....just remember to make a cushion or something to rest the ladder into the bodywork or it'll scratch the hell out of the van sides ...

Another great job guys looks awesome :) Be careful with your ladder, we have one similar and have noticed after repeated use that it has started to dent the side of the van where we have been leaning it up against the side. We have applied some foam pads to top so that when its leaning it spreads the load. a bit more.

Just saved myself over €2k as I'm building a similar rack DIY style, 2 189,00 € for a roof rank is crazy, yes I know its well made, not custom, made for your van, and considering all the work you had to have done, drilling holes, countersinking, etc etc, I bet you have €5k in it with everything, thats mental, sorry guys, but way OTT, but of course, you probably were given it to review, promote?

I might be late mentioning this, but I would've used a tread locking liquid on all the bolts to keeps them from shaking loose.

You said you mounted the FrontRunner Universal Tracks to the roof of your Sprinter. Is the shape of these tracks standardized? Meaning, can I use other brands or models of load bars or roof racks to fit into these tracks? Thanks, Manfred

The problem is normal people don’t have £1800 + to spend on a roof rack you need to keep it real .

I wonder if instead of a petrol can you could have a water container which could also be a solar shower permanently fixed and ready to go??

Loved this video, and i have decided to buy a front runner rack based on it. Having trouble finding one for the transit 2019 L4H3. Does anyone know if they are made for my van? I see L3H3 are available.

How heavy are those containers when full that you have on the roof of your van? I ask because they look as though they are much too heavy to put up and take down when full.

Perhaps they have changed the law in the UK since I left (I live in Belgium now) but the legal maximum for petrol in a can used to be 10 litres in a metal can or 5 litres in a plastic can. Has this changed? What are the new regulations, if it has changed?

just thought you should make the solar panels tops for stoage boxes, i know its more work but long term trips need more supplies , just think u never regret having to much storage , make it from light weight mettle, will be light and make stealing ur solar panels harder

Hmm, they don't do roof systems for fiat ducato based vehicles. A big problem I can see for the Merc van is if it gets damaged you have to strip out the interior to get to the fixings. The advantage of the fiat van is the bolts screw into pre-installed fixings from outside the van so you just undo the bolt on the roof and remove it. Looks a great bit of kit too, would have loved one in my van, hopefully they'll expand the range.

Hi, on seeing this video I realised that although I may not want a roof rack just now, unless I instal the tracks before I finish the insulation I won't ever be able to have a roof rack, so I sent to First Four to get the tracks. They arrived very promptly. However installing them wasn't too easy. What anyone thinking of getting them needs to check is : what length of track is being supplied and how long your van is, so that you can see how much of your roof will be covered by the tracks. I have a MWB Sprinter. This means there are 8 potential holes down each side of my roof to take the 2200mm tracks. The tracks are only 6 holes long. I thought of cutting each track in two so as to make the track area longer but this wouldn't work. In the end I have put one whole track on each side and have laid them toward the back of the van - part of the front area is occupied by the roof fan. I had quite fancied the idea of having a light bar across the front of the roof but with nowhere to attach it to, that won't be possible but hey 1 they are very expensive and 2 do I really need one - No! When you mark and match up where you need to drill the holes in your track to match where the holes are in your van roof, you will find that the holes in the soft cushion strip which lies between the track and your roof don't match up so you need to enlarge a couple with your Stanley knife. I have managed to fit these tracks but it wasn't particularly easy. I sounds easy and theoretically it is but I'd just say if you're going to do this, allow yourself plenty of time. I must admit however that all this is very new to me so I will be slower than most of you, perhaps, and I am enjoying it - being dead chuffed when it works out.

So, did you buy the rack, or get a discount, or were given it - i.e. sponsored? Please be clearer as this is not an inexpensive piece of kit (£1926 for just the rack)

Interesting, believe your model of Sprinter just fits in most shipping containers. Solar cells depending on type are about the limit. The rail around the rack looks a little high

Lol, to be fair mate... I don't think anyone goes "woahh!" when a white van with a roof rack goes past. That being said, as someone who actually does appreciate van conversions, I would definitely notice the rack. Nice :-)
