This Game is TOUGH - Tears of The Kingdom First Impressions 

im 2 towers in. love how similar towers and shrines are. game is tough but i've been playing BOTW with a kitted Link so that hasn't helped. story seems very unique. I could see this being the best Zelda game ever.

I beat the game, got all the shrines, wells and lightroots... So I can watch videos now. Um.. I didn't go to Lookout's Landing right away... I wandered around frustrated for 18 hours dude. They should have given you the paraglider right away or start you at Lookout's Landing right after the Sky Island. I was absolutely furious. Once I got the Paraglider... I was addicted for well over 400 hours. It's slowing down now that I've done the shrines and everything... but I'm still having fun just screwing around and I haven't experienced this since I was kid. Just screwing around aimlessly in an adventure game. Nintendo still brings back my childhood in more ways I could've ever imagined. See ya Essay!!

I agree, this game is quite tough

very minor story spoilers (right after tutorial section) and a few less minor gameplay spoilers there are so many minor gameplay touches that make the combat so dififcult, and i love it. i like the story relevance of the weapons being deteriorated seems random at first, but then i realized that's why link's attacks feel so sluggish and slow. one of the npc's in lookout landing talks about how important it is to get a good grip on your weapons because the slightest difference in build and material will make the weapon handle differently. i noticed that i cant approach enemies thr same way i did in botw because link isnt super human anymore (not as much at least lol). he doesnt perfectly block hits or dodge as easily. the enemies have also gotten buffed it seems. i have a much harder time landing critical hits with arrows, i noticed enemies, when theyre idle in their camps, move a lot more, making it hard to aim at them (lizalfos especially). i alsonlike that each enemy now has some sort of headbutt attack with their horn, now you cant just brush them off even if you managed to steal their weapon. it's very clear to me that if you dont get a good grasp of link's nee abilities, you are not going to succeed in totk, and i think that's awesome. only 5+ hours in have i gotten used to using recall and fuse in the middle of battle, and it feels great finally having a mastery of these abilities in a pinch, because, like you said in the video, it's hard to apply them in battle situations at first. thankfully the game and all the shrines do a good job at making sure you mastered the abilities before you move on. each shrine didnt just feel like a cheap puzzle or collectible, i always walk out of shrines now more aware of what my arsenal is capable of. Better yet, even bow that i feel more comfortable using the abilities on the fly, i still lose my fair share of battles or find myself forced to retreat. The monsters of hyrule feels like a threat again, just like in zelda 1. there was also this really weird enemy i ran into - i dont want to spoil it for anyone that hasnt encountered it yet - but it is FREAKY. im assuming they are the new guardian-style enemy of the game that can show up st any moment to absolutely destroy you. i have never felt a fear in zelda games the way i did upon encountering THAT enemy this game is awesome.

I spent like 3hrs on the great sky island lol i loved every minute though

bro said it’s better to get prepared before going into a battle….duh, the game even tells you that on the loading screens

I love it so far, I'm genuinely having a hard time, who else can say it doesn't feel like dlc?

I was suprised how much harder this game was than botw. Not like super hard but up there. Still having a blast and I’m only in the first area

I’ve only played for about twenty minutes on the surface, but so far it seems… fine 🤷🏻‍♂️ it feels like another entry in the _BOTW_ game style… some things are better, some things are worse, but so far nothing is a huge disappointment, and sadly nothing new is blowing me away. my biggest disappointment is that the Shrine/Dungeon system seems bland, yet again. I prefer the Zonai aesthetic to the Sheikah, but the musical them is worse, and the atmosphere is just nothing special.

Warning mild gameplay spoilers. WHY can’t we swim any faster? Really? They couldn’t add underwater exploration either? A mechanic that almost thirty year old games have. Suuuuuper disappointing to me. Being able to go underwater adds so much more to the world. The water is pretty much just an obstacle. Where in other games it was fun to explore. And koroks again too? I was definitely hoping for a new overworld collectible. I’m enjoying it so far, but honestly not super impressed yet.
