Thank you kindly for your in.depth / comprehensive video. I'm not a Technician nor an Engineer, (I'd wish I were. ER / ICU ex- Military MD here..), but being active into my (Late..) Parents + Grandparent's farms & ranchs, I was somewhat familiar with diesel & petrol/ gasoline engines, (multipurpose, like chopping bovine hay / grass, log splitting, etc. Mostly, old B&S, Tecumseh (gas) + Pitter / Lister (diesel) ones. Recently presented with two old ones sitting in a warehouse for a couple decades, one is a Yamaha EDA5000dv / ~ 4.9 Kw (diesel, recently checked by a Tech friend, now running quite well.) + a Craftsman- Generac V twin 480cc / ~ 8 Kw, about to be checked + properly mantained. Just out of curiosity, I (Very gently..) smoothly pulled the Generac's recoil starter, (Yup!: previously having plugs removed + a couple 10W30 squirts in both cylinders, moving freely, NO grinding / clanking noises..). After watching your awsome video, of course I subbed!!.. Again, so many thanks & Blessings for this one + your channel videos I'll be watching... 😌🇺🇲💪🙏🙏🙏🙏
As always, top notch content. I'm still doing well with my side hustle of buying "junk" small engines on Facebook marketplace and flipping them after a total refurb. I have made thousands in the last year and it's really helped out with my hours being cut from all three Rona madness. Most of my knowledge has come from your channel at this point. I really appreciate all your work! I learned the hard way after refurbishing a Honda generator to always change the oil even though the previous owner says that they recently did it. No matter what I did I couldn't get the engine to stop making a faint "puff" or light "pop" after it had warmed up. After a month of troubleshooting everything else, I finally drained the "new oil" (according to the seller) and could smell a little gasoline in it. Replaced it with high quality synthetic and it runs beautifully. Again, thanks and Merry Christmas!
Great Video thanks....I just bought one of these at a Yard sale and want to tune it up ...nice clean generator ... Again.. thanks ...very informative 👍👍👍
Have the 4000w, 8hp version of this unit and hadn’t touched it at least 5 years. Checked oil, engine started on 4th tug. Amazing how reliable these B&S engines are. Wish my Honda powered units would start as easily after a couple months.
FYI, easiest and cheapest way to clean jets is with a bit of automotive cable: strip the length of insulation you might need and use whatever combination of copper strands needed to clean the different size holes. The copper is softer than the jet´s material and will not alter the size or cause any danage ever. Afterwards just spray with carb- cleaner, brake cleaner or clean gasoline to flush out whatever gunk there might have been.🙂
Very nice even did the gap opening on a spark plug class act responding to previous video comment on the gap tool video. Great idea changing to the paper filter way better than the red and white plastic ones but they do the job also.
Great vid Jake. I was reading awhile ago in a couple places ( one of them was an oil company) that even still sealed, unopened motor oil has a shelf life of 5 years. Any thoughts? Thanks.
