Tucker needs MORR practice being a cameraman. There was a nice view on that first recovery that was not fully captured. Only small glimpses. A good view sells, Tucker. Business 101 since 10,000 B.C or earlier.

When I was a teenager there was a spot on the edge of our county where we would party, It was up a bad sandy road on top of a hill, the road climbed for almost a mile so you needed a capable truck to get up there, and the spot we partied was a 10-acre tract of land that some guy from up north had bought sight unseen because it was 10-acres in Florida for $12,000. Long story short, I contacted him and he had come down and found that he couldn't drive his car to the property so he no longer wanted it, so he said if I gave him $10,000 for it I could have it, so I did, and 6-months later the county turned that sand pit road into a very nice paved road and the 10-acres I just paid $10k. for was then valued at $70k. and I could re-zone it to commercial and it would be worth $200k. But seeing it was at the top of the hill I wanted a few acres of it cut down and leveled so I could put a house on it, so I sold the sand to a company right down the road for $40 a truckload, and they had to remove it, I never thought that cutting 10ft of dirt of the top of 4-acres would fill 800 trucks. lol. So I got paid $32,000 to have my own property leveled so that I could build my house. lol. And I now forever own and live on my teenage party spot. lol.

Very cool. When I was a little kid my brother and I built a "fort" way out in the woods behind Mom and Dads house. When I got out of the Army, I bought that 5 acres, and have lived on it for over 40 years. I cut down the tree the fort was in and had a craftsman make me a longbow out of it

@@ToyotaNutjob You are obviously looking for a bite so I'll take the bait. Lizzie has proved that she can do whatever is asked of her either in the recoveries or in the workshop. Matt has taught her in both areas by giving her opportunities to get experience but not setting her up to fail which is the mark of a good teacher. I would say the same if it was a young man in the same situation and there are many in Matt's videos that he has nurtured and trained. What have you done to train young people, improve their skills and give them a job?

Being terminal with atherosclerosis and congestive heart failure, I've lost a lot of muscle mass and body strength. I feel the pain on that tire needing to be cut off. My father and I have had to cut loose spares on half ton pickups on no less than 3 different occasions off-road, and once on the road side on an interstate in winter. Up here in Wisconsin, the road salt just absolutely corrodes those spare assemblies in a year or so. This is why I find it hilarious when I see people on youtube making fun of the Honda Ridgeline for having it spare in the bed, because it's in fact a smarter spot (Rivian R1T has copied and used a full size spare under bed). Putting aside it being a compact rather than full size spare, it is in a location that doesn't experience this issue. I would rather unload the bed to get at my spare than need to cut loose another damn underbody spare in the mud or snow (which meant first having a tool to do the cutting). Perhaps other trucks should consider either an under bed compartment mount, or at least a fully enclosed spare mount if doing it under the truck. Also, another knock on underbody mounts, my dad and I have both had our spares punctured by rocks or logs when off-road. It's just a stupid place to put it.

Exactly. One of my regular things to check when I do a tire rotation is to pull the spare and check pressure and condition. And grease the works.

I have a 18 year old pick up that I cannot remove the spare due to another ford idea. The engineers that thought of that idea should not have children , we do not need any more idiots.

I know in the 80s chevy offered a swing out under body spare mount, which beat the hell out of using a crank. Even had enough space on the arm that swung out that you could make a skid plate for the spare. The problem is it's hard to find a truck with that still on it.

Everyone with an underbed spare should practice lowering the tire once a year. It's real easy to find it's frozen, or you don't have proper tools, or have lost the security key or something. And on the edge of a highway is a hell of a time to discover it. BTDT

Exactly.......although we really enjoy it, our Sienna van sits VERY low. Any slight dip and we'll drag the trailer hitch. So I can't imagine how they got their van much more than just off of the pavement!

Great video, guys! I love seeing how relaxed y'all are getting on camera. Glad to see Skeeter survived the grinder incident unscathed. I have a buddy who lost a few teeth (and some facial skin) using a grinder overhead without a face shield. It caught on something and things went south from there. To make it more exciting, he was standing on a stepladder. Lucky he wasn't hurt worse.

Another great video! Never needed to cut a spare loose….I always keep a “like” spare (same wheel and tire as whatever I have on the ground) and do a (5) tire rotation at every other oil change. Not only does that tire hoist get regular use, the spare doesn’t get “wasted” by never being used. My last set of Goodrich KO2’s saw 98,000 miles n my 1/2 ton 4x4 Ram. 👍🏻

When Cutting a spare tire down Always use a jack or ratchet strap around the bed to hold it up so it doesnt come shooting down (its spring loaded and dropping at you) i speak from experience.

Most MORR vids are an easy 7/10. I love the entire crew, I love the seeing the builds come together, I love seeing the various recoveries and the different techniques used to pull them off... This vid was a 7/10 right up to the last 15 seconds. Those last 15 seconds pushed this gem to a comfortable 12/10. Absolutely epic!

My husband's truck has the same spare tire setup. Most stupid engineering! We had a flat 4:30 in the morning, busy! highway windchill in the 20s, wind whipping, minimal shoulder. It took longer to get the stupid tire down and the cable back up than it did to change the tire! We both agreed where that stupid scissor jack could go, lol Glad Skeeter came out unscathed. We came across a guy in a '90s Silverado with a flat blocking the trail a few years back. His spare winch was jammed and he couldn't get the tire down. Our cordless angle grinder saved the day. It's a very handy trail tool.

Theres a lot of dams where I live (eastern Canada) and there was one where we'd all go up to and party, camp, have a good time and its been that way since our parents day as it was built in 1948. Well, it got popular, it got trashed, and up went the gates and fences. 60 years of party memories gone! Keep your secrets, secret my friends.

Same thing with abandoned quarries. The greatest swimming holes known to kids. We kept one a secret for years. The state quarried it for limestone. The uncut side faced the highway the state built. Hundreds of people drove by it every day. Only a few of us knew about. We found it looking for places to find fossils. Though it was 1/2 mile from a freeway, it was about a 10-mile drive from town.

#1 their AC still works even though they're stuck so it's not that big of a deal. #2 people get in over their head but that doesn't make them idiots. Great work MORR crew!

The industry standard is to do a star pattern twice followed by a circle to ensure you didn't miss any. She may have just been finishing the circle pattern.
