Hey guys just letting you know that the end scene was a reference to a bunch of 80's movies: "Can't Buy Me Love" , "The Breakfast Club", and "Say Anything". Also the music number was a reference to "Ferris Buller's Day Off". Hope this helps clear things up. Thanks for the video, keep up the great work! 🙂
The crazy thing is how well this demonstrates the double standard right? Like having sex saved each of those boys' reputations but it ruined hers. And they were engaging (faking anyway) in the same activity. The juxtaposition of the way Brandon walked out of that bedroom and the way Olive did...that's a cold hard look at how much society hates women for having sex.
It's not a double standard because women are who select within the sexual market, while men get selected. Those guys were selected by a pretty woman, ergo, they're marked as desirable mates. On the other hand, she's "selecting" everyone, thus she's increasingly devaluing herself. Gender dynamics matter, we're not the same.
The guy who was sleeping with the teacher's wife is Cam Gigandet, who played the evil vampire James in Twilight. The lawn mower at the end is a reference to the movie Can't Buy Me Love, which starred a young Patrick Dempsey.
You need to diversify your Penn watches 😂 He’s a similar character in John Tucker Must Die(excellent movie) and is fun to watch in the horror thriller Stepfather!
He's in this amazingly bad B Rated horror movie called Drive Thru and it's honestly one of my favorite movies. It's free to watch on RU-vid rn (with ads 🙄) and I've been telling everyone I can, so here's your recommendation 😂
I love this movie! In the end when Todd pulls up on the Lawnmower with the speakers and then they threw their fist up in the air, they are referencing 3 80’s movies. All iconic and you guys should watch them. The lawn mower is referencing “can’t buy me love” the holding up the boom box outside the window references “say anything” and holding the fist up in the air references “the breakfast club”
This movie was one of the few 2010s movies that aged well. Also, Penn Badgley ❤ P.S. Olive’s ‘Weekend’ Montage is Oscar worthy and it cracks me up every time. Also, so relatable.😊
42:03 The lawn mower thing is from am 80's rom com... As is the song he's playing and the punch they do that it freezes on... Because earlier in her webcast she said she wishes her life could be like an 80's movie, complete with its own musical number for no reason (which is why she got the band to play the song and sung to it as well).
He picked her up on a lawnmower as a throwback to the 1980s movie Can't Buy Me Love, n they both throw a fist in the air as a throwback to the 1980s movie The Breakfast Club, n he stood on the mower raising the speakers blasting music into the air as a throwback to the 1980s movie Say Anything😁
Everything they did at the very end was because she said she loves 80s romcoms and they recreated the end of Cant Buy Me Love: playing music outside her window, driving a lawn mower and the fist pump at the end.
I've been watching your channel for a few months now, legit did not know I wasn't subscribed, your vids always show up in my recommended feed, soo when you said 80% is not subbed I looked and immediately clicked that button 😁
it's still so crazy to me that whenever people see penn badgley in something they're like "omg it's joe from you" because in my case i've always been like "omg it's dan from gossip girl" 😭
I really do like this movie but yeah it’s been back to back romances and I’m a romantic person but it’s a lot so I’m glad we’re gonna get some more variety in the next movie week
11:11 fun fact, im not sure if you guys have watched it but the principal is Malcom Mcdowell aka Alex from a clockwork orange ! he lives in Ojai, California where they filmed Easy A.
The mum is accurate! Not every mum is a prude and real parents don't rely on others to teach their own kids everything they need to know in life. Just my opinion though...
It's definitely not illegal because of his age but it's still illegal because she's a guidance counselor and he's a student. Regardless of him being over 18. And psychologists can't sleep with patients anyways. And since she's the counselor all the students are essentially her patients. So yeah. Still illegal and she will absolutely lose her license
I just came from the Lovely Bones video. Stanley Tucci is in both movies but did you know that the blonde girl in Easy A who plays Olive’s best friend is the real life sister of the girl who plays Susie Salmon’s blonde best friend in The Lovely Bones? And they were the Disney channel stars Aly and AJ!!!
The speakers outside her window and the driving off in the lawnmower are from 80s movies that she mentioned she loved in the movie....Say Anything was the movie that they took the speaker scene from and the lawnmower scene is from Can't buy me love...
I actually find it funny to see the actress who plays olives mom be such a free willing and cool mom while I remember seeing her as Margaret White in the 2002 remake of Carrie I have to admit though that if you do watch the 2002 version of Carrie the special effects isn't really all that good considering that it was made for TV but I still think the acting is stellar and the way the story is conveyed through flashbacks is very reminiscent of the book which was written as though it was taken from actual news articles, interviews and book quotes that were written about the tragic event at prom night and also the occasional inner monologue of Carrie. And it follows the book of much more closely and even has scenes that were never even in the other two movies
Y'all should watch What Dreams May Come. Since you liked the afterlife in Lovely Bones you would dig this movie. Robin Williams plays a dramatic role. It's so good.
Yeah the lawnmower is from an awesome movie called Can’t Buy Me Love with a young Patrick Dempsey ❤❤❤❤❤ I hope you guys watch it for Reel Time some day
love this movie and your reactions/videos!! you guys should react to X, it's a horror movie that came out this year and has a prequel (Pearl) out now and a sequel next year called Maxxxine! it has a great cast including Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Brittany Snow, and Kid Cudi and it's based in the 70s!
You guys missed a ton of references to John Cusack 1980s romance movies. Things that didn't make a lot of sense to you would if you had seen those movies
Dude in striped shirt needs an eye exam, definitely needs glasses, does same thing as my nephew before he realized he needed them.... Also, React to crazy, stupid, love! Great movie!
These guys don’t have a comedy bone in their body. The things they kept saying was weird and awkward were meant to be that way. It’s sad it flew over their heads
The reason why Todd and her drove away on the lawnmower at the end is another 80's movie throwback from "Can't Buy Me Love." You should check it out; great movie with Patrick Dempsey.
