Howdy Folks! I'm back with the first of those Villainy Ink demonstration videos that I promised! In this first example, we will take a look at Goon's Grime! An enamel color that I am sure every miniature painter working in the Grimdark style will own!

Tbh, it would be great to see miniatures on more neutral background, without the benefit of deep shadows and black backgrounds.

I love the style but yes, I think there should be a 'scene' view and then a 'lit up in your cabinet against the ugly wallpaper in the background' view

How do you clean your airbrush. With acrylics, I dunk mine into a jar of 99% isopropyl when im done. Should I do the same but with white spirits?

Yeah white spirits to clean and then follow up with alcohol or water

What airbrush size and pressure are you using when using goons to filter? My size 3.5 airbrush get clogged when not thinned.

Around 35/40 psi and use an iwata eclipse with a 0.35 nozzle. Usually with just a brushful of mineral spirits mixed in or even neat didn't really experience much of an issue. Could be a problem with 0.3 and with the other colors that contain bigger granules like coelia green/carrion crimson

Love your technique, the end result look amazing. I would like to see how (if it is possible) to do gradients with different colors with oils, still cant imagine not removing the previous color with a new wash, or the enamel/oil wash can only be one color?

Do you need to thin the ink for airbrush use? If so, what kind of thinner are you using? White spirit?

You thin the product with mineral spirits. They spray through certain airbrushes with out needing thinning.

I'm wondering what exactly you use Lacquer Thinner for? I'm interested in beginning my Death Guard Army following your methods & using them for inspiration. What do you use for a varnish after applying oils and is it safe for said varnish to go over acrylics and enamels as well?

Lacquer thinner is used for cleaning tools like airbrushes or brushes. It is really aggressive, so make sure to re-introduce healthy oils to your bushes. Any varnish is fine, but you shouldn't varnish after oils or weathering effects. You can varnish your base colors if you want, but I personally do not recommend doing.
