To cake my Gumball Machine cake, I began by baking 11lbs of my Ultimate Vanilla Cake into bright bubblegum colours. I stacked them up with my sweet Italian meringue buttercream between each layer. The cake is covered with red fondant, and silver pieces to simulate the coin drop zone! It's topped off with a dome full of colourful gumballs ready to be chewed. Wow! This one came across my home page and I was VERY impressed! You are an amazing artist with an amazing eye for detail. This was very nostalgic for me because in my youth, I bought a gumball machine/coin bank. I don't like gumballs so I filled the glass ball with M&M's and chocolate covered coffee beans instead. Alas, time, tide and accidents take their toll and it fell over eventually and the bowl broke. WARNING: Four coffee bean candies are enough to give you a caffeine headache. PS... This cake reminded me of the drawing I done for Standard Grade art (they were the names of the exams that you take in fourth year in Scotland, they changed them the year after). It was a pencil drawing of a very similar looking gumball machine that had all these different patterned sweets in them. I got a 2 overall because of that drawing, which was the second highest grade you could get. I wish I had a copy of it that was such a good drawing.
