If you are interested in losing weight or simply maintaining weight then you need to pay close attention to your basal metabolic rate.
This rate controls how many calories you burn at rest and it's the most important factor when it comes to your weight.
The question is, can you do anything to augment your basal metabolic rate to improve how many calories you burn at rest? And the answer to that question is yes.
This is because your thyroid is primarily responsible for controlling BMR. It's estimated that up to 40 to 60% of your caloric burn is regulated in part by your thyroid.
And there are things you can do to improve your thyroid function to increase how many calories you are burning at baseline.
One of those things is by taking thyroid hormones, especially t2 thyroid hormone.
Emerging research is showing that T2 thyroid hormone is one of the thyroid hormones in your body that is primarily responsible for regulating your metabolism.
And it just so happens that T2 is the only thyroid hormone that is available over the counter.
Studies in both humans and animals suggest that T2 thyroid hormone may be an emerging treatment for obesity both in people with thyroid disease and in those with normal thyroid disease.
Learn more about using T2, its safety profile, how much to use, and much more.

Correction: when I discuss the dosing of T2 I mention that the dosing is in mcg (which is correct), but the pop-up on the screen shows mg (which is incorrect). So, for clarification, the dosing is in MICROGRAMS and not milligrams.

Dr. Child late comer here. The doctor I see know only test my TSH and T4 levels which I have gained a lot of weight in the last three years and now I’m getting tired of the hamster wheel.Because of the information I got post surgery, it bewails me that the first doctor I was seeing had my t4 medication very low for my body weight. I like that you push against the medical field because it seems that they come off as rank and file. They don’t actually see us as human anymore but just a case to file away. Your tests are fine you just need to exercise. Straight BS. How in the hell can I exercise if I’m dog tired after I get off from a 12 hours shift. Make that make sense.

My pellet hormone doc prescribed NP Thyroid for me for subclinical hypothyroidism or as he said I could use a "little boost." I had no issues other than a little tiredness and I always had normal labs, very slim and lean. It messed me up terribly. I felt bad overall, gained 10 lbs. quickly, felt spacey and had a lot of hair loss. My husband said it changed my personality. I was on NP to begin with and changed to Adthyza on a very low dose of 30 mg/32.5 mg. My labs did not change at all on either med. except my TSH went down some. My T3 and T4 remained the same for years. TSH was 2.1 to begin with and went down to 1.8, but I felt horrible. I weaned myself off of the medication and feel great now! No more puffy eyes, much clearer-headed, and weight is coming off. Messing with hormones as complicated as they are is risky business when you don't need it in my opinion. I lost a lot of hair during that time which is distressing and my hair was beautiful and thick. I would not recommend taking T2 for weight loss nor other thyroid meds unless you need it. Just my opinion, but I have been through a lot with this and it didn't go well. I love Dr. Childs on most things, but I am not in agreement with taking T2 for normal thyroid patients nor low-dose thyroid meds when you don't need it.

I take 15mgs (30mgs cut in half) of NP for a little boost & it works perfectly. Sounds like you were taking too much which will definitely result in the side effects you were having. But since you feel better w/out, that's great 🙂

also hashi here. You can also activate the brown fat by taking cold showers. I started by taking contrast showers. I would end showers with cold water in the beginning and allowed a few days to rest before trying again, then kept at it until i could take proper contrast shower. Now, a few years later, I can take daily cold showers. Another option is cryosauna. Additionally, there are supplements that can help lower anti-tpo, like NAC and black cumin

@@eve2738It is one of the antibodies they test for Hasimotos. Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies-Tpo. Also, I think the other antibody is Tgab. My thyroid, TSH is always tested normal. I have some of the symptoms of low thyroid, but my doctor never wanted to do full panel. I ended up paying for full panels twice out of my pocket and finally had the TGAB antibody come back high, but that other one was totally normal . My doctor tested and saw it was high and said I had beginning Hashimoto’s. I didn’t even get to talk to an endocrinologist. He spoke to the endocrinologist and relayed to me that I would probably never need medication. The weird thing is after testing hi twice on the TGABA antibody the next test was totally normal go figure, so yes, I want to try this T 2. @6:53 caution : mg refers to milligrams while micrograms is to be written μg or mcg. Note that short fasting periods of 24 to 36 hours are also upping metabolic rate and testosterone. (this opposed to chronic caloric restriction that lead to depression and slowing down of metabolic rate) About myself, male 47, bmi start was 32, now 29, I am on a loose keto/med diet since January, the weight loss started with my first 36h water fast, but I adapted first my body to low sugar for one month. My weight loss is slow, but mostly visible on the abdomen, I am happier, feel bouncy, and see huge benefit in memory, mood stability, mind is clear, organised, I am the ninja of my days, it's a new life, wonderful. The medical journal Endocrinology published an article on T2 in 2015. They warn there hasn’t been enough research to determine correct therapeutic dosage and all the effects of T2 on several organs specifically impacted by thyroid hormones. Three effects that were found to be concerning were on the Hypothalamus Pituitary Thyroid Axis (which maintains a very delicate balance in these organs), increased food intake, and caused enlargement of the heart (cardiomegaly). They also found that these negative effects can appear early in the course of treatment even before the anticipated therapeutic effects occur. While there may be more and better research out there now this article, as well issues the doc mentions, should give everyone a big flashing yellow to red light. Do deep research on this before taking this drug.

When inflammation hits... I (shake the jar vigorously again) take 1 tsp of this mixture in a cup...add hot water and a touch of fat i.e. cream or butter or olive oil. I drink the resultant liquid... stirring as I drink it so as not to end up with a 'sump' in the bottom of my cup. This is rocket fuel when Uveitis hits. I do this for about 4 to 5 days. I sincerely hope it helps you as it does me. Dr. Childs, you mentioned in a previous video that you don't have an issue with someone taking NDT (NP Thyroid) in the evening before bed. I just switched from Levo to NDT. I used to take Levo before bed, well after eating my last meal. It just seemed easier to do that, than remember to take it before coffee in the morning. I'm wondering if there is any downside to taking my NDT in the evenings instead of the mornings? Appreciate any response if you have time. Thanks. Laura

Thank you! Sounds like what I need. Or, at least a fair whack of it. I saw an endocrinologist who was only allowed by the HMO to use the older chart for interpreting results on the thyroid test. Saw a Naturopath later and he told me that's what happened and that I definitely have a thyroid problem that is considered too low to treat on the old charts but definitely is high enough to warrant medical intervention on the newer charts. But, that's the last time I saw him, for reasons outside of my control. Sometimes, my thyroid chugs along okay. I was told it is not diseased but something is attacking it. Like something I am allergic to. Blah, blah, blah .. upshot is, I know I have fairly bad thyroid problems sometimes and mildly bad much of the time. So, I will be glad to give this a try, along with the N-whatever Acetylne thingy I learned about in the last video.

Dr. Childs I’m a 61 yr. Old female. I’ve been w/o my thyroid since I was 22 years old. I was diagnosed with thyroid Ca. , and had it removed. I’m on 112 mcg of Synthroid and 10 mcg of Cytomel . I have been unable to lose any weight. I have gained 40lb., and post menopause on top of it. I feel so tired severely stiff and achy. I have been exercising and I don’t snack and eat healthy. I’ve tried inositol and Berberine . I’m not seeing any results. I know they won’t increase my thyroid medication, but have not heard of the T2, do you feel this could be an option for me. Doing what I can. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thank you for your help and time

Dear Doctor I am on Armor thyroid a 120 milligrams a day 6 days a week. I was trying to figure the micrograms and it seems exceedingly high. Once it was lowered to the 120 milligrams 6 days my symptoms lifted after a few months and I also went on keto and lost 25 lbs. I would like to know what you think. I have had no estrogen for probably 15 years. And I now have osteoporosis which after 1 and a half years on prolia and upping my calcium and D intake I’m now osteopenia. I do have shortness of breath and have chronic pain in my lumbar area which is where they see osteoporosis or osteopenia and arthritis in many areas of my spine. And knees . I’m 70. I never heard any mention of T 1 or 2. Please give me your take on this. Love your channel!!! Thank you!!!!

@mandya1229
@mandya1229 Год назад
I am not sure if this is your case, but I just wanted to throw it out there just in case. If your body is having issues regulating calcium, you should have your parathyroid glands checked. My mother had 4 tumors on her parathyroid glands (there is 4 glands located behind you thyroid ) causing hyperparathyroid, which then led to borderline osteoporosis. I just wanted to bring awareness to this because it's not well known by doctors, and she lived for years with horrible symptoms while trying to figure out what was wrong. Best wishes to you.
@michelles1517
@michelles1517 Год назад
@@mandya1229 THANK YOU and that is a good point I’m going to check to see if it was ordered on my blood work recently . I am aware of parathyroid my son had it and had his parathyroid operated on like 10 years ago. They discovered it by him having kidney stones twice at a young age. I went through menopause at a younger age probably 10 years earlier not because of a hysterectomy or anything. And that’s when the thyroid started to go on a downturn. And so for several years I was struggling with hypothyroid. Very difficult AND the symptoms became overwhelming. Which I was the one who diagnosed myself. The gynecologist I had was so bad. She just wanted to put me on synthetic HRT. Which I went on for a month and took myself off of it. I was HAVING severe pain in the lower stem of my head occipital which they reported it can cause brain hemorrhage etc. and years went by and I finally found a Medical Doctor who was alternative who gave me blood work and called me up and said I had hypothyroid. At that point I had every symptom. I was really struggling with energy and severe shortness of breath etc. Now I’m being tested this is like 20 years later for Hashimoto. I have gone without the proper diet and medication etc. for a long time. I swear if I wasn’t taking green vibrance back then which had some seaweeds and spirulina I would have been really bad. It kept me functioning. I read some of Mary Showmen books and went to her Doctor she recommended and that’s when I found I had 0 estrogen. So that contributes to the bone loss. Also I had given up milk and diary for a long time but now I’m doing it for 3 years grass-fed organic milk and different cheeses. Living in California I felt the best eating the keto diet and I didn’t have shortness of breath. I’m in Florida now and the humidity is awful. I’m having severe shortness of breath, but I think the hypothyroid has taken a toll on me. And the pain from osteoporosis and no estrogen. I am going to have my Dr order blood work for the parathyroid. Thank you again for that because that could be a HUGE FACTOR! Calcium levels!!
@mandya1229
@mandya1229 Год назад
@Michelle S It is so hard to find good doctors nowadays and you def have to be your own advocate. I also diagnosed myself with Hashis after complaining constantly to the doctor and feeling like I was just crazy. It is a struggle for sure. I am also in Florida so I completely feel you there with the weather. And it also seems once you have one thing it just leads to another. I am now in the process of getting diagnosed with Hyperadrenergic POTS which is also not well known in the medical world. It left me bedridden and in the hospital. They eventually decided to put me on a beta blocker to help slow my heart down and bring my blood pressure down and it has atleast made me be able to take care of myself. Being vertical isnt really my friend at the moment. So now to find a doctor who can help with that. All the specialists take forever to get into. I hope you figure out some relief. Sounds like you been through the ringer trying to deal with symptoms and doctors. I am glad you found an alternative doctor that can help get to the root of things. I am happy your son got the help he needed with his parathyroid. That also is awful to deal with. Got lucky that the parathyroid center is here in Florida atleast. Not sure if your son got his surgery over there in Tampa. You are in my thoughts. It's a shame that insurance companies don't want to help with a lot of naturopath doctors. I am lucky I have a good pcp now who listens and tries to help now. Too any quacks out there, lol. Goodluck Michelle! We all need some of it 🙂

I bought the T2 from your website. Rather than taking a whole capsule, I broke it open and only used a little each of the last 3 days. But I noticed my feet were more ice cold than EVER during sleep, which made it difficult to sleep. What could be the reason for this? I do NOT have Hashi’s. I take NP Thyroid once per nite, 1.25 mg. It helps, but I still can’t lose wt. I’ve tried GF in the past, but it made zero difference. Any ideas? Does this mean the T2 already contained in the NP Thyroid is enough and the extra is too much - causing freezing feet. When the supplemental T2 wore off, my feet got warm again…
