Those prices are inflated, they're selling for typical house prices when they aren't working with the expensive materials or paying for workers like with other houses. They just want to make millions. Luckily not all 3d printed companies are going that way. Low cost for quality is whats coming.

When you build a house on location you have to organize local labor for weeks until the house is done. You have to have permits to block off the street and make noise for many days. You have to have all types of contractors, electricians, cement pourers, windows installation, plumbing, industrial waste disposal, etc. There are many construction sites that need to be done on very small properties that are impossible to fit all the equipment they need to build the house so they have to organize around each other's schedules. If you could just level it, do the plumbing, pour the concrete, then bring in a completely finished house it would save so much time and planning. An electrician for them comes to work and does the electrical system for 3 or 4 houses a day because he doesn't need to travel between job sites that are hundreds of miles apart, and they have all the materials on hand in large quantities so he doesn't have to go to the store because he forgot one thing.

You could buy a completely finished manufactured home that’s twice the size for 1/4 the cost of the unfinished shell. These things are outrageously expensive for what they are.
