The add2 chord is a chord where you add ONLY the 2nd/9th degree to the chord, but the 9 chord implies the use of the minor 7th note as well. Cadd2: C D E G C9: C D E G Bb

Nothing. Just play music. Add2 and 9 are just words used to describe what you're playing. You know how you're playing by hearing if it's right, not waiting for somebody to tell you what's right.

It's musicians like you who create mediocre musicians. You already told him the difference from the 2 and 9, so what kind of "kumbaya" comment you wanted me to say? From reading your comment and mines, he now knows the difference from sus2 and 9, and also know what matters more to a musician is being able to hear the chords he wants to play. SN: you can only accept the truth the way you'd like to hear it, which is why most of your gigs will be low paid, with sheet music in front of you. You wont be the musician that gets called for studio sessions, live performances, tours etc. You don't listen because you only hear it if it's said to you nice.

The 7th of a chord acts as the connector to the upper extension notes 9th, 11th, 13th.. Without the 7th in the chord this becomes a 2nd, 4th, 6th*
