Geez Louise I am glad to see even the best of us have these days, I thought I had forgotten how to fish this weekend with the record number amount of misses I had. I basically went to do charity work and make sure a bunch of fish were well fed. Thanks for bringing us all back down to earth again Sammy.
@brettjames2639 this particular was for another video LOL RU-vid does some crazy stuff sometimes! BUT I'll make a note. Who knows where this life will lead me. Thanks!
Excellent RU-vid video my Brother. When you weren’t hooking the fish on bait trolling you should have speed the boat to set the hook. Spanish mackerel and Wahoo have hard mouths and I have caught a lot of Wahoo in Aitutaki Cook Islands. Setting the hook is very important especially when using bait and lures and okay but it’s still important to set the hook . From a Aitutaki Cook Islander
That makes me feel a little bit better about having another Notober. Couldn't add up the hours I've wasted on walking the flats with plastics and little poppers. Hopefully I'll have a Yesvember.
Love watching you fillet up the catch, nice technique! Have you ever considered trialing smoke the different varieties, and aging the fish??? Have experience air hung trout/salmon (cold to cool out door temps), the flavour change was very noticeable and richer. You would need a cool room though!
Nice one Sammy. I've got a few YFT over 30kgs off my kayak. Had fish for days. Sashimi, seared, steaks, and even made fish burgers with tuna. Can't go wrong with them.
Great episode as usual. Just wondering where do you get your tuna rig from and what’s it called. You have all the other lures in your description just not that one. Looked up your page as well as Wilson and BCF links couldn’t find it.
Hey sammy love the content. Maybe try single hook snell style for the new diver instead of treble hooks might result in less dropped fish. Also from the community we would like more shauno fishing vids on MOJO
So it doesn’t just happen to me then !! Great work Sammy. The fish at the end made it all worth while. I have a question, unrelated to the video. What do you use to sharpen your Swibo Knives ?
The clarity of your cameras is nice. What do you use and are the batteries interchangeable? I heard you mention "all the batteries" were no longer charged. Just curious. Looking to make underwater videos myself. Thanks!
😂😂😂 about to rip down a quality leggy into the offstump 👌😂 Nah one of those things where my parents said to clean my apple before I ate it 30 years ago and have done it ever since 🤷♂️
It’s surprising fish don’t hook up when you have four hooks in a bait. How they miss them I’ll never know haha. Did you have a teaser on the line when you hooked the tuna?
A foul hooked yellowfin is not fun. I have had it happen too and the problem is they have all the leverage when not hooked in the mouth. Its a bitch to get them in bc they are foul hooked and fight like hell. Good job Sammy battling that big boy! A 50-60 lb yellowfin is a major catch and not easy to land especially when foul hooked. Excellent job Sam!🤟🤟😎
@@SammyHitzkeFishing Some times the fish dont cooperate with our plans! But you did an excellent job playing that fish until it completely just gave it all it had and like you said prob died of a heart attack! They fight until they cant fight anymore. Yellowfins are one of the most tenacious fish in the ocean. If you have never caught one then you just dont know. I have caught hundreds and lb for lb they will give you one of the most epic fights of ANY fish….people just dont know unless they have battled a few of them.😎
I do think you need to remodel that back rest so that you do not have to negotiate it every time you walk past! You do make contact with the back rest all the time! Would annoy the crap out of me!!!
I bet its not too fun losing those 25$ lures every time a snapper breaks you off! I think I would be putting a little heavier leader on! F that losing all those fish and tackle! Go heavy mate!😎
@@SammyHitzkeFishing what lb test braid were you running? A 30 lb leader should of been strong enough for those fish. If you werent running at least 25 lb braid that could have been a problem the hooks should have been your least concern🤔🤔🤔
@@SammyHitzkeFishing Better have at least 25lb braid or maybe 30 but the hooks should be the least of your worries. I mean these are snappers not ‘Cudas 🤔😎
@@jayjohnson9668was running 20lb braid, usually fine, just managed to hook cranky ones that day! As for the trebles, snapper have a nasty habit of just crushing them. Big powerful jaws on those buggers 👌👌
Yeah have tried with singles a few times for snapper. Definitely don’t have the same hook up rate unfortunately. But once they’re in they tend to stay pinned 👍👌
Mackerel are one of those fish that hit from behind, the side and below. We’ve got plenty of troll camera footage of them doing it, so have to have hooks facing both directions. 👍👍
Frustration land early on! Do you ever wonder if your luck has run finally out and it might be a long time till you land the next fish? Nice yft though!
To be honest mate, I just let the lures tell Me what speed to troll. It always changes with the conditions so I just watch the lures and once they look like they are swimming right that’s the speed 👌
Come.on Sammy, you are too experienced to know that wire traces are your friend. If you only knew how expensive those lures are in the rest of the world, you won't lose them so easily. Quit playing around and get to catching, 😂
Thank fully I’m also experienced enough to know that snapper wouldn’t bite through mono leader, so steel trace wouldn’t have changed anything in this instance. There’s a fine line between being to careful and fishing too heavy that you end up not getting bites at all! 🍻🍻
