Yeah, the exhilaraton of reaching the top is short lived because the return or down climb brings the next phase of concern, from the observer/ mom's perspective. And the sounds of those lose rocks he inadvertently kicks doesn't help either! Glad that everything went safely 🙏

I watched my son climb in person once. It wasn’t as high but it was as steep. Somehow I made peace with it knowing that he’s an adventurer and there’s nothing I can do about it. His girlfriend and I did the bottom portion of the climb (about 15 feet 🤣). Then we watched with hearts in throats 😝

RU-vid is now feeding your videos when I'm randomly searching, or when I'm after something in particular. Naturally your videos hijack whatever I was doing. I've only watched about five of your videos and each one has been full of fascinating things whether it's ghost towns, botany or, as with this one, secrets of rock climbing. I've always wondered how climbers get their ropes back after a descent. The subject matter is continually interesting, as is the history. Your camera work is so brilliant, often exquisite, along with the music you complement everything with. It makes me wonder what motivates you to share your exploits with the world since it's obviously a lot more work intensive than to simply travel and camp and explore, but whatever the return I'm glad you do it as this is one of the best YT channels I've seen. Thank you for your excellent and generous videos.

Perfect evocative music! Congrats on reaching the summit and the drone footage is exceptional. I have no fear of heights and have done some rock climbing and some spelunking which required some vertical scaling of wet and muddy boulders to exit the caves but I have to add I have never climbed anything with so much loose shale. I knew you did this safely because you posted this video but watching this climb did breech my comfort zone if for that reason only, even though I am aware that you are a very competent climber. Thanks for sharing this spectacular area and scenery plus showing the effort required to reach this place in order to provide these views as well as providing the commentary as you climbed! Admirable result!

My husband thinks the car is a Desoto. Love how you don't run the sentences together with editing like a lot of RU-vidrs do. Jamming sentences together without allowing that people breath, makes me anxious and I have to turn them off. You have a nice, natural cadence that is pleasant to listen to. Also love how clear you are about where you are, where things are & what they are. I am a new viewer, but it seems you love arid places. Also, your not just talking to young, healthy hikers. I am retired with replaced knees- I think Angel's Landing Hike Would be dangerous for me- but it looks glorious!!!

I usually love your adventures. I imagine going along and enjoying most of them although I’m much older. I use to love climbing, but always used a belay. So watching this really made my heart pound. I’m aging faster than I thought. All I could think about was a rock coming loose, a slip of a step or hand hold. I’m glad you trust yourself and know your body so well but… if I were your wife or mother or even as your vicarious travel partner, I’d sure like to see you use a rope more and or a partner to climb with. I know you are careful but I also know “stuff” happens! We need you to stay alive and keep us adventuring along with you if only on line!! Please be safe!!

That was the most spectacular beginning of any of your videos! "We did it"😂That just cracked me up. I'm definitely part of the 99.99999% I was surprised to hear you say that this climb was more difficult than the ascent of Gannett (that climb just freaked me out - my fav video 😍) Two questions that hopefully you will show/answer on a future video: 1) Pls video accessing the roof top carrier. Better yet, pls ask your wife if she'd show us. Is a small step stool needed? and 2) on a future rig tour, if you'd discuss any differences in your sleep system for autumn or is it the same as your winter system. I love the Go Pro view of the climbs vs the stationary camera shots. It feels like I'm really there. Thanks again for taking us along!

Tristan, I've been watching your videos from 3 years forward for the past 2-3 weeks. They have been a refreshing change from the assortment of news, history, travel, and political stuff I usually binge watch. I am envious of your freedom to do these things. I have a travel trailer ( 5th Wheeler) but at this time not the resources to take on these adventures of yours. I have always had a certain wanderlust insides of me and at 73, I don't have many more years to do some trips at even a quarter scale of yours. Had I done these things in my 20s and 30s, it would have been just a lot of great memories I would have accumulated. I have so my life responsibilities behind me now. Gonna make it a point to downsize this spring and summer and do some drivable RV trips after I sell my 5th wheel. Getting into your pace, your editing and your ability to rock climb, with the confidence you have is like taking all of us along without the danger and with the drone, even more spectacular. I wonder, was it a big learning curve to control a drone from atop a butte like you just showed us? I loved that you do a step by step procedure to going up and coming down, via repelling, these seemingly impossible buttes and rock outcroppings to downright mountains. I like that you take us throughout the west. I am in the California foothills and have access to some great rugged areas with certain routes. More recently you took some trips into the mid-west and even into Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. Each trip is well planned out and I can see you are dedicated to this. You say you are an writer/ author. I'd like to read and research your travel memoirs. Anyway, my compliments to you, your lovely wife to have the patience and courage to deal with not knowing your adventuresome whereabouts while holding down the fort. She seems like such a sweet lady. You are blessed. Well, carry on, keep your videos coming and each one has something unique. I favorite all of them so I can one day get to these locations. 🙌🙏👏☺️🌄⛺🛣️🏞️🏜️

I’ve seen rock climbers go straight up vertical near the Rockies and always thought they had some kind of death wish. I never understood it, yet I do understand. The thrill, the sense of accomplishment, the views, make it worth it, I can see now, from your drone shots. They are epic and I love the drone shots. All that loose rock made me a little nervous, though. And I always wondered how do you get the rope down. Now I know. Thanks for filming and explaining that part! Loving your adventures!!!

Wow, this video was amazing! I suspect it will get a ton of views. Question for you... does a part of you ever wish tor a 2nd person to to the camera/video work so you don't have to backtrack so often? I realize you like the solitude, but at the same time, it must get old retracing your steps to retrieve your camera. Either way, keep up the great adventures!

I came in from planting Marigolds and here I am watching this, In my younger days, I may have done that. I will climb vicariously through you.

Amazing climb!! A place worthy of Mars or other planet. Those drone images with you on the summit are simply breathtaking. Thx for sharing!

One of your best. It’s been on my list since camping there in 2018. Thanks for including the rappel/downclimb footage. Utah forever.

Wow. The San Rafael Swell was one of our favorite adventures but yeah... not going to go heading up that mountain any time soon. That's impressive! And kudos and on the work to get the shot and then retrieve the camera. Isn't that the best part? 😂 Also very cool seeing your RAV4 setup. We're looking to upgrade to a larger 4WD vehicle (from a tiny hybrid lol) soon so I can see your channel coming in very handy! Thanks!

The Swell is always a great adventure, for sure. Thanks for watching! And congrats on your upcoming upgrade. It's always fun to get a new rig.

Thanks for taking me on your adventures. I wish I was 40 years younger. I would have liked to have taken a few trips like that myself.

Although your hike and the views from along the way (and from the summit) were awe inspiring, my favorite part of this video was seeing and learning about repelling. Thank you.

That breakfast sounds fantastic Editing to add: when I start watching this I thought “Oh it can’t be that bad or a climb.” I changed my mind.

Really fine video. Like the way you made it clear that it's not a hike/climb for folks without serious experience. Loved both the climb and descent.

Well done lad! Those handholds sure looked sketchy and loose. I'm glad nothing broke off for you in such a remote place. But you are still immortal and seem to know/judge limitations well. Great stuff!!!

Tristan, Thank you for your generosity taking these adventures and sharing them with us! Have done much hiking over the years, but never did rappel (and at 65 probably never will); felt like I was with you. Thanks!!! -Ron
