This is an absolute NIGHTMARE - trying to cross CAMEROON - CONGO 🇨🇬[S7-E80]

This is part 2 of the day in which I tried to get from the Central African Republic, via Cameroon, to the Republic of Congo. The road was a lot more challenging than I thought, and it ended up being a race against the clock, to avoid crossing into the dark. I make it to the river separating Cameroon and Congo just before dark, but by the time I managed to find a 'pirogue' (a canoe made out of a tree), it's dark. When trying to get my motorcycle across the river, the worst possible happens...

Africans have rather harsh experience abroad. Its extremely difficult for an African to enter a village abroad(West, parts of Asia) and get this kind of hospitality.

The African subconsciously knows they are the original humans, if they don't provide support that will be the end of all humans. The others don't have that originality in the DNA so they don't feel the need to provide that support which is not needed for the survival humans. In fact pygmies are the most original humans in existence and they will never do anything to harm anyone, its in their DNA.

To put Alaska back together with all parts and fasteners in the dark is amazing. Some people cannot do that property in their garage in the daylight. Of course I liked this episode. One tumble in to the river after countless other boat rides with Alaska is something else. Having the people at customs call a mechanic and get Alaska going in the dark is another example of being blessed on this journey. Take care Noraly and enjoy the paved paths in the Congo.

Myself being an african trained mechanic but now working in one of the 1st world countries, can surely know how effortless that mechanic fixed the bike in those odd hours of the day and pinpointing his method of diagnosing the problem(no obi scanning tool) In Africa we still open Carburators by head, even me as a mechanic, I know how to strip a starter motor and change brushes, Alternator diodes etc. Apprentice mechanics here in Europe doesnt even know what a carburator is, its sad.😢 During our training its basically about using available limited resources and reducing expenses. This can also be attributed to how those mechanics Adamo and his team in Abdijan did an overhaul on Alaska👍 I am very happy about how the two and many other videos has given a true reflection of how humans always spread love❤ Much love for you Noraly, keep on pushing, we like your Energy and zeal to never give up🫡

Well said my brother. The same applies for us here. But now, lots of electricians do not renew brushes nor solenoids on starters. They do not open alternators....just replace them. Most of our cars are Japanese and used parts arrive by the containerload. My electrician's father used to open and repair when I was a young man. Now his son replaces. There is hardly an engine job for the cars. Just buy a complete engine or head-and-block ! Regards. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies. I salute the mechanics of Africa, India & Pakistan. These guys are good ! Respect. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

This is why I always say that engineers/mechanics etc in less developed countries are BETTER than in developed countries. It is because of the reasons that you state. In developed countries, digitalization and complex tools have made the engineers/mechanics rely on them....and when they fail they are left clueless. This is because they have not learnt the BASICS. In less developed countries they truly understand the problem that is in front of them and they aware of the systematic approach of solving the issue. And as you say....you have to be inventive, since spare parts and resources are limited.

The things that earmark Noraly's journeys are the roads (rocky, dangerous drops, mud and water) but mainly, the help that she gets from local people. Also the locals can do anything, rescue her, feed her, carry her bike, fix her bike without garage facilities, give her a place to sleep. I love that she shows us the real third world, where people are not obsessed with possessions, their status, their expensive house etc. She is indefatigable and treats everyone as an equal. Actually, the moment I read the caption of this episode, it immediately made me feel nervous.. but then I thought "Noraly was able to upload this, so that means she is alright!"... Watching you traverse a very rural, somewhat isolated area was a bit scary being on your own. Your being one brave woman doing such thing had gained big respect from all if us your followers. Now, when I read that Alaska fell from the canoe, was a panicky moment for me and my tears were streaming down my cheeks when the mechanic was taking Alaska apart, plus the fact that its already dark and you have not reached any accommodation yet... But in the end, thanks be to God, Alaska was running again and you were able to reach accommodation safe and sound! Yey to that! BIG thanks to all those gentlemen who stayed with you while Alaska was being fixed... Thank you, Thank you for being nice and kind to Noraly 🙏🏻🥰

I take my hat of to these guys that can fix a modern machine in the dark, fantastic, plus after hours and a few tools. I live here in Perth Western Australia and to have a motor bike repaired or tuned up is a major effort plus the massive bill at the end and then the motor bike is not properly fixed and these bikes are repaired by large major companies. The mechanics here should do there apprenticeship in Africa. Here in Perth they can not even repair lawn mowers or Whipper Snippers properly. Just totally amazed at these African mechanics, well done.

You're right, I think it's all over Western Nations, it's only old Few mechanics really know how to repair machines ie Bikes or lawn mowers or generators. And they are dam expensive if the job is done. Years back I brought to Africa, mechanical failed bikes, gas & diesel machines and generators from USA, they were all repaired fine with almost to part replacement needed. The labour payment was the most cheapest. Wondered!

As a re-newbie beginner road-rider after a 50 year layoff, my neighbors and extended family say pretty much the same about me as @user-vg7zu2sw6v says about Noraly. My experiences are nowhere as adventuresome as Itchy Boots, but the living angels are everywhere. First day out on my new machine, tipped over twice with full panniers, and a bike I hadn't had to pick up even unloaded. Full tank and luggage much more than I could handle. Didn't take a minute for help to get me back up. Over the next thousand miles, happened a total of seven times. Yes I know what was doing it, but instincts are hard to retrain. Past experience was getting in the way of learning as well. Lots to un-learn and new to learn. Every time, I would barely have time to asses ignition/kickstand/gear before someone was picking it up. And that's in the USA where we are not known for common sense (me as an example) or charity, until you get to know a few "common" citizens. Ride On Noraly!
