Oh, that's kinda a miscommunication. I remember a whole lot of articles misinterpreting John Cena's tweet back then, but he said that he was happy to join in with BTS Army to help match the $1 million donation. So he donated with Army to bring the total up to $1 million from Army. Which is still great of him. He's a big army hahaha so it's all good. Edit: He corrected the misinformation during an interview with Trevor Noah last year.

39 year old here who never thought that needed 07 young korean men to teach me that I need to love myself.. but they really did the trick! Their message helped me through hard times. And even with HUGE sucess and money and influence they still remain down to earth, humble and gratefull. My 4 year old daughter loves their music and I hope she continues to love them for a long time cause they are a great role model. There's a video by XCelest about the Army. You would be amazed how organized and amazing Army is!

I am a 51 year old African-American army. I’ve been watching you, and watching your videos. And I don’t think you’ve had the recognition you deserve. There’s so many people out there watching BTS videos just because they see the numbers. I see that you are really interested in who they are and what they are and what we are as army. There’s A couple of videos I think that will be advantageous for you to watch. One would be mic drop the other will be black Swan. And even maybe a couple of their live videos. I was suggest you go back further in your discography because Real army wants to see you react to when they’re speaking everything in Korean that will show that you’re truly respectful of their art. Don’t forget to turn on the close captions . Wishing you love and light L

I was just wondering if you have talked to your daughter about BTS after listening to their music. This group has such a positive influence on young people & adults. They are scheduled to be in NYC this September at the next United Nations event, with their President. It will be their 3rd time doing something for the UN. People in power, I think XCeleste might’ve been referring to their songs that criticize the Korean education system, social status and most likely the song Spring Day. There was a ferry tragedy in South Korea. Any celebrity who spoke out against it were blacklisted. Spring Day was most likely about it but they couldn’t confirm because of government backlash.
@beccal.5369
@beccal.5369 3 года назад
They have recently confirmed that the MV and choreo especially are relating to the Sewol ferry tragedy. The song itself can either be taken as missing the victims - or missing anyone who is no longer around, that is why it appeals to people of all ages and is still in the charts 6 years later, and even applies today as we miss those due to lockdowns because of the pandemic.... we all wish for our "Spring Day" to come.

I just loved your reaction. Made me cry (in a good way) Now you know why ARMY was so happy your daughter loves them. Role models. I would definitely recommend An Introduction to the 7 members of BTS by Ida S, next. In the video the "power" that she refers to is both government and the Big 3 corporations that had a strangle hold on KPop. Once you get further down the rabbit hole 2 songs in particular. Spring Day which is about the Sewol ferry disaster (a horrific event that later lead to the impeachment of President Park) this video has many explanation videos which I suggest watching first and bring tissues. And the song that made me an army forever Baepsae (definitely watch an explanation video on this as well) is about being a millennial (or indeed anyone who is an artist/creative/downtrodden/maligned/minority) and railing against a broken system. 💜 Just yesterday, President Moon Jae appointed BTS as diplomatic representatives, special envoy for Future Generations and Culture to help shape the global agenda on sustainable growth and future generations, to speak at the UN this September again. Enjoy the journey down the rabbit hole. 😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

@@BigNerdDean Hi, I'm 60 years old, when I met the boys I discovered a different world, when I got to know their lives in depth, from the beginning I started to fall in love with each one of them and their differences. I integrated myself into a reality I never imagined. Being an Army today is very important, because as a teacher I can recommend the work developed by BTS. They are genuine and care about what the young person is doing. And if you really follow what they do for people you will be able to recognize how many lives they manage to save, because they are the hope of a generation, they talk about culture, health, studies and they want today's young people to be very healthy. Congratulations on sharing your reactions to the BTS world.

First off, thank you for your reaction on BTS. You said in the video that you were wondering what the statement "backlash from people in power" was all about. Well, it's both from the Korean government as well as other big companies or groups. BTS are a group that are not afraid to speak their minds and they always stand up against social injustice. They have made many controversial statements in their songs throughout the years. For example making references to May 18 1980, Kwangju Uprising (Rebellion), which was a mass protest against the South Korean military government. Nearly a quarter of a million people participated in the rebellion, and it is considered to have been a pivotal moment in the South Korean struggle for democracy. It's still not certain even today, how many people lost their lives during the mass protest, but it was originally believed to have been around 600 people. Nowadays based on reports that have surfaced, it's likely to have been in the 1,000 to 2,000 range. Citizens were also tortured and raped by the military, and many people went missing as well. It is highly controversial to even mention the Gwangju Uprising, even to this day. It is also very dangerous to choose what side you stand on, and even more dangerous for public figures to speak openly about it - which rarely happens. K-pop Idols are not supposed to be political, but BTS refuse to live by these rules, and they don't shy away from difficult topics, even though it's unsafe. The biggest threat is the very popular far-right South Korean internet forum called "Ilbe Jeojangso", that are notorious for their denial of the Gwangju Uprising. The members of Ilbe also have a lot of hatred against the Honam region, historically known as Jeolla Province (which Gwangju is part of, where the BTS member J-Hope is from), they're also known for defamation of the Sewol ferry victims (which BTS's MV for their song "Spring Day" was a tribute to, and also criticizing the Korean government for their involvement). Ilbe members are also anti-immigrants, anti-women, and anti-LGBT. They are also linked to nazism, terrorism, vandalism, assault, and murder. They have a specific hand gesture they do as well, which can be compared to the Nazi salute. BTS have jeopardized their whole career many times throughout the years because of the topics of some of their songs. Another example is the song I mentioned above, "Spring Day". It's a song that BTS's fandom "A.R.M.Y." (often simply written as "ARMY" and is an acronym and stands for "Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth"), has crowned as "Queen" of BTS's discography, and is the longest- charting song in history on Melon (the most popular music streaming service in South Korea). On February 13 2021, the song had then officially spent 4 consecutive years on the charts, and it's still on the charts now in July. The song and MV is a tribute to the victims of the MV Sewol ferry tragedy that occured on April 16 2014, which killed 304 people - the majority which were kids. Sewol's captain Lee Joon-seok (Koreans put their surname before their first name, btw), was later found guilty of gross negligence and is now serving a 36 year sentence. What makes this song stand out from other tribute songs, is that it was actually illegal at the time for BTS to make this song. The K-pop industry was actually created by and is still controlled by the Korean government, and the industry receive huge amounts of government funding every year. The government also censor songs that are deemed too political, anti-government, or pro-North Korean. Even songs that have been played for decades sometimes run afoul of the authorities. They also have the power to disband groups, and blacklist artists and groups from airplay on the radio. The government also decide whether songs, music videos and concert-filmed content will be allowed to be uploaded on the internet. They have put a stop to certain artists' careers in the past, and can still do so if they so choose. BTS have had songs banned in the past, as well as have come close to be disbanded by the government, by demands of the public. The former president of South Korea, Park Geun-hye (who is currently serving time in prison for abuse of power, bribery and coercion. She was originally sentenced to 24 years after having been found guilty of the 16 of the 18 charges she faced. The sentence has changed several times since then, and up until 2020 she was supposed to serve 32 years instead, but it was reduced last year to 20 years - and one of her charges + part of another one was dropped as well), banned artists and groups from making music about the Sewol tragedy, as well as showing support to the victims and their families - after having received criticism for her handling of the disaster. BTS cleverly constructed their song "Spring Day" and its MV into hidden messages, and used a lot of different metaphors in order to criticize the Korean government and let the voices of the victims be heard, without the government's knowledge. Some people will claim that it's only a theory that "Spring Day" is about the Sewol tragedy, since we will never know for certain until BTS themselves make a official statement about it. If you were to watch the 2 very detailed explanation videos for the MV however, it's obvious that the theory is indeed true. BTS will of course never be able to confirm it themselves, since it was a criminal act at the time. There is currently false information going around on the internet that BTS have officially confirmed that the song is about the Sewol disaster, however this is not true - they have hinted that it's about the event, but not explicitly uttered those words. The most they have revealed about the inspiration to the song, was in an interview with Esquire Magazine, published on November 23 2020, where the interviewer asked them if the song was about "a specific sad event", to which the member Jin answered "It is about a sad event, as you said, but it is also about longing". It is worth mentioning that in the article that this interview is part of, the journalist had written about the Sewol disaster before Jin's comment was added right afterwards - implying that the interviewer probably mentioned the Sewol ferry during the interview. In October of 2016, a cultural blacklist made by the government, that blocks any public funding or aid towards artists that voice any criticism of Park Geun-hye, was made known. On January 21 2017, an exclusive report revealed that BTS and Big Hit (now known as HYBE), had donated a total of 100 million won (approximately 85,000 USD) to "4/16 Sewol Families for Truth and a Safer Society". When asked about it, Big Hit confirmed: "It's something that we processed secretly as we believed that donations are meant to be done quietly. It was the artists' decision and personal matters, so we don't think it's something to leave comments on". On April 10 2018, the blacklist was made public for the first time. It was dated May 2015, containing a 60-page-long list that included 9473 names of people that were excluded from state funding simply for voicing of Park's handling of the Sewol ferry tragedy, showing support to the victims and their families in any form, or for showing support for rival political parties. Thankfully, BTS were not on the list - but they very well could've been, it's actually really surprising that they managed to escape getting on that list. This was during a time as well when they needed all the funding they could get, also they could've been blacklisted from the radio, or even worse - get disbanded. One K-pop group were on the list, called "24K", for having helped a candidate in the presidential election.

She is a fan of BTS she is ARMY and I believe you are also ARMY?😊💜 Your short journey through BTS has just begun but there is so much s more to learn about BTS! It’s just not their music and lyrics and choreography that are outstanding but their personalities and their humble there and unlike any western artist or any artist that I’ve ever come across of in my lifetime and I am much older than you and I’m also ARMY for the eight years that they have been existing as a group! We have learned a lot about ourselves when we listen to the music of BTS I can dissect the lyrics and learn something new every time I listen to the song again! And as a fan they reached me at one point in my life when I was at my worst when I was physically sick and unable to feel good about myself with health conditions, With health conditions that I have I still persevere I still continue to live one day at a time one BTS song at a time! So I hope that BTS will continue to inspire you continue to entertain you continue to teach and learn new things about yourself! BTS love their ARMYs and vice versa! Our relationship is more than just us buying their albums and their concert tickets we have a relationship that we appreciate each other respect each other and BTS are always humble they never put in brag and boast about how much money they make or how much better they are than anybody else but truly they are that’s just my point as a fan but the truth is they are humble respectful seven young men that you can appreciate their talent and their social continent is always engaging and thought-provoking! Some members are more hyped than others(wich might be an bias issue) and with others, important info has completely left out. To ARMYs that already knows the members, its not that bad but for someone whos only just about start learning about them.. It clearly gives out the athmosphere that other members are better/more important than others. Thats not my kinda vibe.

Yes. Bts are amazing, and there more then what people think. I was suffering from depression and there music always gives me comfort. I used to hate myself and look at other people better then what I am. When they came in my life they came when I needed the most. There music made me love myself just the way I am and to meet people that understand me. If it wasn't for then I don't know what it could happen. J am glade that even tho all the success they have they still remain humble. I recommed you to react to "7 members of bangtan" by xcelest it's an amazing vidoe to get to know the members better. I also recommed the 2021 version. You are never late to the family, we love having new people into the fan base. Your an amazing person, have a nice day and enjoy every second with your daughter, I know she is amazing.

BTS opened my eyes to the world. I've learned that the rest of the world has the same hope & dreams. Likes & dislikes. There are still haters, xenophobes & racists in the world but BTS helps me navigate situations. Also; our governments are always telling us to hate certain countries, with BTS & the internet; all of a sudden, I have friends, who have similar likes from these countries that I'm suppose to hate. BTS has created a family from all over the world for me and I love that family very much.

Hi, this is gonna be a long comment, pls bear with me. This is my thoughts throughout your reaction: 1. As ARMY, i've never commit this much to artists/ celebrity. Its my first time to not only stan a group, but also supporting the whole company. The birth of bts started from Big Hit and the vision of their ceo, which im forever grateful for creating bts. From the core of bts, its already a very genuine and sincere goals. Music for healing, to voice out through crafts. I thank Mr.Bang, for raising bts like his own son, instead of training them like machines prepared to compete in the industry. Kpop industry has been known to be toxic and very competitive. Companies would train artists like machines with strict diets, restriction for social media use, forced to practice beyond hours etc. But Mr. Bang create a friendly environment and not forceful. He encouraged them to be genuine teenagers with their personalities and even encourage them to interact in twitter even before they debut. He just constantly remind them to know their purpose as artists, and use the platform they have to strive for growth as individuals and as artists. 2. Yes, the members love each other so dearly. One of the reason why we love each and every one of them. Seeing their relationship and synergy, brings us happiness. Their love for each other is platonic. That clip of Jin saying members are like his wallet and phone was in 2017, their bond are way stronger now to the point they feel like they want to build a village of 7 houses and live near each other (let me cry....). The thing is they are not afraid to show how much they love each other, and that expression are also shown to us, ARMYs which is also why we love them so dearly. Loving Bts never felt one sided. They constantly show us how much we are loved by them. That as much as ARMY are fans to BTS, BTS are also fans to ARMY. They call us family and their bestfriends, their eternal partner and their happiness (let me cry again...) 3. BTS are very involved in their music. Every details; their lyrics, sounds, singing, music videos, choreography, all have meanings and inter-connection to each other (like a connected storyline). And their lyrics and music are just....top tier. Many people said bts make music for the intelligents cause your brain need some processing to fully digest their crafts 💀 4. Lyricism are top priority for bts when making music. They prioritise the message than anything. The main lyricist in bts is RM, we call him the philosopher who raps, and Literature boy. All bcs he wrote poetic lyrics, where u sometimes need to sit back and think about it. RM loves reading books, he was a nerd who love rap in school, his ambition used to be a Writer. Suga and jhope are also good lyricists. 5. BTS & ARMY 💜 a family. Bts are so genuine with their fans, non of their gestures of love to us are fake, not even once we doubted how much they love and appreciate us. Their label also appreciate us by thinking of so many contents to make us happy. They constantly comfort us, and interact with us, always reminding us that they love us, calling our relationship as "each other's battery", we protect each other. The reason the fandom are so strong bcs from the beginning, armys are the only one who protect bts from any hate, armys supported them from the very beginning. Our numbers keep growing bcs we connect with these guys, we understand their goals and what they stand for. I trust bts with all my heart, i trust their music and they never disappoint me even once. They are people who does what they preach, people who always inspire others to be better version of ourselves. And i love them fr that. 6. I would like to say welcome to the rabbit whole. You have a lot to explore, from their music and personality. Looking forward to your reaction more 💜

I am a 64 year old Army. And I will say it again. I truly believe that these 7 young men from South Korea will be the ones to heal the world. I started listening to them in 2015 because my Granddaughter was in to them and I wanted to check and make sure of the quality of the music that they were putting out, meaning not 'trashy'. WOW! was I impressed. Now we are planning our first concert as soon as they are back on the road. What makes it really neat is that now my daughter and son in law are on board as well. Now we are a family of Army. Love them all equally but have a soft spot for our sweet little mochi, Jimin.

by people in power and the examples you gave id say all the above. they have songs where they call out the government. songs where they call out older generations. songs where they challenge the school systems. songs where they call out and diss media, music companies and corporations plus other artists who dissed them. they have a song for everything heres some recommendations but some songs need explanation videos due to cultural references and some needing more context besides the simple english translations. i gave specific lyric videos those have the best translations for those songs. theres probably way more than these but this is all i can think of right now :) bts baepsae lyrics and baepsae explained by dkdktv bts spring day and spring day explained by italain army channel bts n.o music video agust d ft RM strange lyrics video by zaty farhani bts airplane part 2 lyrics on channel face yourself agust d what do you think lyrics on channel DIAL 6137 bts am i wrong lyrics and read explanation on doolsetbangtan website RM and wale change lyrics video on channel DIAL 6137 and music video bts not today music video bts ugh lyrics on channel af taehyung and explained by dkdktv

Btw, my business partner in Seoul told me that him and his friend used to get annoyed by BTS’ boss, Bang Sihyuk A LOT, because he kept asking for a loan or investment of $10,000 or more. But he just sent him away, saying No. Now he regrets it like hell. 😩😂 His friend LOANED him the 10k, but demanded it back asap and he did get it back by the time he promised to pay back. He too regrets it like a mofo. 😂 If he had INVESTED the money in Mr Bang, instead of loaning and getting it back asap, that money wouldve AT LEAST multiplied by 100, he said. Ouch.😂😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️

"If things are unbelievable, then that's just what it is"...what BTS is achieving is unbelievable esp when they were not suppose to succeed. BTS was an anomaly even in their home country and now even on the global stage, people can't comprehend BTS success because within the preexisting establishments such an act was meant to be buried. As a 37 year old ARMY I realised how different they were and how the path they are chartering is unprecedented. Also this music critic has said that "BTS has no debt to the system" meaning BTS success does not benefit any of the exisiting institutions and establishments so that's why BTS success is underrated and underreported in comparisons to their peers in the industry.

You know how like in the US the most common thing I see in music videos is people talking about drug, sex ,abusing people ,or you know what I mean and degrading female and some males as well they don't talk about important stuff don't talk about like real life issues and I know because I mean I live in the US and I was used to listen to a lot of you know us music that they play on the radio and yeah but BTS is different which changed my life and my perspective of thinking and doing things you know and it also you know I could say they save me cuz I was going through some stuff and they are like the pillars that helped me stay alive and each and every one of them are amazing and I'm glad that they got the spotlight and now that they got the spotlight obviously they're getting more haters and the people in power yes mostly the government and people in power who have more money than them and can do stuff freely that's illegal that the people in power will easily get away with yeah 🥺😨

BTS is the reason I am alive. Im 30 years old , work in tech , live in California. Ive been dealing with PTSD for 8 years and refused to go to therapy. November 2020 of last year, I was waiting on a hotline. No one picked up. I saw in the corner of my eye a video called STAY GOLD by BTS. I clicke don it and for some reason even t hough I did not understand the lyrics, I understood the message. RM, the leader said music transcends language and thats right. I started to cry and realize how much Ive been supressing to not feel anything, happiness nor pain. Because of BTS, I started going to therapy, because their music makes me realize you must love yourself. you come first. even BTS struggles and still struggle today because humans arent perfect. They sing about so many meaningful things with great messages and set a great example (looking at zero controversies, huge donations to charity on their own dime etc). I am now an ARMY and I hope more people find them when they need them the most. I live din korea for two years and never cared about BTS I never know their music meant more than sounding poppy. I then discovered their rap line (first time in my life I heard rap not rapping about drugs or disrespecting women, but about REAL things. sugas first concert was at eminems i think). Im now working toward a promotion and I work at a large tech company and have held presentations to multiple departments for those who are curious about BTS. BTS reaches all ages all genders, all languages because they arent making music to make money, they are musicians with a message.

First of all, thank you for giving the Bangtan boys a chance. I really admire you for it. I feel sometimes when people think about the word "boy band", it could turn them off because the stereotype of boy band had in the past (boys singing & dancing about romantic love and screaming young teenage girls, etc) but then when you actually listen to BTS' music and learn their message, you will realize that BTS is far from a typical boyband indeed. However, most people already wouldn't give them a chance because of the word "Boyband". In fact, BTS 'fan base is so diverse in demography. Let me tell you this, I am a 42 years old with two young kids. I love BTS not just because of their visuals but their music, message, talent, hard working, and how & who they are, their music gives the positive and meaningful message, it is the kind of music that I would like my kids to grow up with (since a lot of music out there these days likes to talk about thug, drug, sex or other bad stuff.) I introduced BTS music to my kids and now we are fans of them. I think it is pretty cool that my kids and I are growing older and closer together listening to the same music. "If you listen to music without prejudice, you will like BTS' music". -- by Suga of BTS. I hope you’ll continue digging into BTS’ music and message. You’ll not be disappointed! PS. Although it IS true that their fanbase‘ age has a very wide range, it is VERY INACCURATE to base their fanbase on the demographics of the ticketsales. Because many KIDS go to those concerts WITH THEIR PARENTS. And their parents‘ age ranges from mid/late 30s up to the 50s. Also, many guys go to those concerts because of their GIRLFRIENDS without necessarily being fans of BTS. Dont get me wrong tho. There are shit tons of male fans and older fans. Theres no doubt about it. Im just saying that the ticketsales demographics dont accurately display their fandoms REAL demographics. Besides, some people, who only know one or two hit singles, seem to just go for the sake of bragging-rights, because theyre the biggest group in the world right now and their concert tickets are an item of big envy for many fans.
