I feel Project Zanaris worlds will live or die by the player caps. If only 10 people can log in then it's always going to be niche, but if a server is allowed to thrive (100+?) then communities would begin to emerge. Honestly, if a private world opened that was exactly the same as OSRS but with drop rate protection for basically anything 1/1000+, I would swap in a heartbeat. I want to play runescape, not gamble my time away.

39:25 Speaking from my own weird tendencies, I would love roleplaying servers to be up and running. I spend a decent amount of time on a skiller account just kind of playing dress up somedays. Between that and falling head first into DnD within the last few years, I've enjoyed roleplaying as a character and would love to see RP servers come about.

True Tile is on mobile, along with ground items. Tile markers coming in a few weeks is HUGE! I don't have a PC so having these features on mobile is going to be amazing! Clue helper is already in, quest helper would be nice but not necessary.

For the custom servers, the most popular ones will likely basically be the ability to change your levels at will and get whatever gear possible for free. To either play in pvp or practice pvm bosses without real consequence.

I go in the wilderness because there's usually no one there. I rarely run into any PKers outside of hotspots, pretty few and far between. It's a really neat area lore wise, I hope they manage to make it more appealing to casual players.

11:50 Uh J1mmy, they do have heal spells. You can be a healer, and share potion boosts, prayer pots, cure poison, etc... just with the lunar book. But it's not really that useful since there isn't a dedicated tank to heal. Maybe it will be better now

More on PVP world boss: We saw alot in the Last Man Standing tournaments, Clans are a huge issue for PVP. Most people aren't in a clan and if they want to experience that content they'd have to find a clan or just ignore it.

I am *SO* excited for the idea of custom servers for OSRS. I love the game, but I just don't have the time anymore to make meaningful progress. If I can play on a community server with exp and drop rates similar to Leagues, even if there's no content like Leagues, I'll be over the moon.

The clothes shop being the exact same just makes me feel like they dont care about the little things to make the game just fun again, its all content content content, boss boss boss... They forgot how to just have fun, such a shame.

Fun fact about those blender trailers, if you turn on flat shading in 117hd you can make your game look just like them. So uh, I guess in their blender they need to use smooth shading.

The thing about project Zanaris is that it’s been done before. Fallout 76 (I know low player count anyways) launched custom servers and besides RPers the custom servers were dead on arrival

Every single issue that people cried about in regards to Wrathmaw is present in every other mass-scale boss. "Waah, I might not get a drop because it's limited to X amount of players" Go to a Bandos mass, go to a Nex mass, go to a literally any type of mass... if you aren't amongst the most prepared and skilled for that specific content, then you're poop outta luck. Same here... the ones prepared and knowledgeable of the Wilderness will have a better chance at loot. "I don't wanna be forced to do X content for uniques/GP" Yea, well I don't wanna be "forced" to do the inferno for the literal BIS melee cape.... yet here we are. I don't wanna be forced to get 175 QP for the BIS gloves for PVP... yet here we are. It's absolutely unreal how they allow professional victims to decide the fate of thousands of others

the osrs trailers should look like 2000s cgi trailers not actual runescape models slapped into blender

I actually like the way they changed the wildy in RS3 where you can opt out of PVP. It’s made the wildy a lot better (imo) and the wildly events are actually really fun. I wish they’d do something similar on OSRS

one thing to keep in mind is although the wilderness boss failed, it was still a 50/50 split, meaning it's not even the majority of players that dislike the wilderness there's a quite clear 50/50 split and those players can't be discounted, we can't be acting as if "the majority" of players don't like or avoid the wilderness. It's often the loud minority that makes us feel this way which is absolutely the case with the wilderness.

If Jagex can give players genuinly powerful tools to create new experiences in OSRS, it'll be successful. I feel like that's going to be the crux of the success of Project Zanaris. Hopefully the UI/capability for doing so wont be limited by OSRS's outdated UI, as Jagex is notorious for having bad UI.

The most crucial plugins are Region Locker and Region Locker GPU for that sweet sweet chunk content.

I watched the videos after the fact. Even though I knew private servers were announced, the name of Project Zanaris still made me think it was a zone refresh or something.

I don't mind the wilderness boss. My argument would be ultimate content in ffxiv. Less then 1% of people will ever try that content let alone clear it, but it's existence is still welcomed. because it makes the world more active and diverse. always catering to the majority can sometimes be catering to none.

Where I see the community servers having a big impact is roleplay. If you could rewrite some of OSRS’s rules and add in some custom content, a roleplay server about the god wars or playing as the Myerque, or the white knights etc. would make roleplaying a lot more viable in OSRS.

I want to play on a community server where you can be something other than human. I would love to play as one of the other races we all know and love. Also a survival based community server would be amazing, food and drink mechanics, temperature, sleep. I would never stop playing

If the official client supports plugins in using it. They promise to increase performance. That's my main gripe with Runelite. Its amazing, but its such an old engine. The fact that my Ryzen 7 5700x and RTX 4070 gets 70fps at the GE is so bad. HDOS has significantly better FPS across the board, but its still a work in progress with a lot of missing plugins and models/textures.

Agree with your point about OSRS original quests. If you're going to do While Guthix Sleeps, I'd rather we get it done as a total re-imagining of what that quest should look like in OSRS. When Silicon Knights was tasked with remaking MGS for the Gamecube, Hideo Kojima wanted them to tell the story their way, because why would he ask them to do a remake just to have them do it the same way he did it? And even if you think Twin Snakes is inferior or better than the original, it is undeniably different and has its own unique vision for what the game should be, and I love that.

17:15 - The most important RuneLite plugin that I use is the Key Remapping Plugin. My keyboard doesn't have F Keys or arrow keys, so by remapping the keys to 1-5 and WASD Im able to use my keyboard. Hopefully they add some sort of way to change your keybinds in-game

I'm glad Wrathmaw didn't pass. We don't need FOMO bosses regardless if in wildy or not. Edit: I thought Project Zanaris was a rework to fairy rings and Zanaris in general. :( Edit 2: The enrage bosses should probably stop giving actual sellable loot after a certain amount of kills and give unique cosmetics instead that you can show off to others. I feel like if the rewards keep scaling infinitely it will probably be hard to balance? But not sure on that. I just wish very high mechanically challenging content gave more cool cosmetics and not BiS items that your average player couldn't get for years to come. I feel like having unique cosmetics is more rewarding in a game where people love to show off their accomplishments to others. Also the thing you said about the boss getting new mechanics and not just health and damage increases is so true too. A lot of games try doing difficulty by just upping the stats of the boss and it's just not that interesting. Edit 3: I love the Wise Old Man, I love seeing him appear in quests here and there.

If they change absolutely everything about Curse of Arrav. The one thing they cannot touch is Zemorigal's notes about the Majaraat. Specifically what he says about himself. If you know you know, literally the best fucking line in the game.

I hardly if ever play OSRS but I think they are really shooting themselves in the foot with private servers. Currently we have 2 vastly different games. OSRS and RS3. They split the community releasing OSRS and now both games have an active but reduced player base. By releasing OSRS private servers will only serve to split the community even more. I do not play OSRS but I still would hate to see their player numbers hurt by seeing a group of players leave the game behind for their own servers... Hopefully it never happens to RS3.

My big complaint is the lack of darkness in an update called rise of darkness, hype for a dark evil environment and they gave 🏳️‍🌈 ? Please tell me how this makes sense for world building and storytelling.

I have always said that it is impossible for any developer to keep up with the content and updates a community will want, even if osrs had wow's budget it would still not be enough. HOWEVER a community CAN keep up.

Jim brought up a good point about dying anywhere else in the game vs dying in the wildy. Back in the day in RS2, dying somewhere non-wildy was almost as threatening as in the wildy. Nowadays with 15 minute graves and Death’s Office, its pretty trivial to die outside the wildy

One of the few times i disagree with jimmy and I disagree fucking hard. the trailers are amazing. I would watch a show of that and wish the cinematics were done the same way. Lets get this game some what modernized. im tired of the stay the same mindset everyone has. this game could be so much more but we limit it. Mobile needs a better option for movement. Screen is way to small for a game like this. Mobile as of right now is really only used for skilling in a small location. I would quit the game if the only way I could play is mobile. The movement is that bad. My main use for it is at motherlode but even that back forth and fixing the wheels annoys the fuck out of me. World boss would of been tight to but no we can't have anything actually fun in this game to do as a group. We also need a lock to tile option for our char if were safespotting. I just feel like Jagex has lost alot of uniqueness and cool shit cause the playerbase limits them so they don't get to think outside the box cause they know the community will shut it down. We are the reason for all this. I would love to see more stuff like Varlamore added as well. That shit feels more like osrs then Varrock. Im just tired of this doesnt feel old school enough it's really hurting the game. I really wish we would move past that and let this game become something truly special. 100% agree on the Varlamore clothes shop. I really like the lunar isle, priff, and slepe clothing shops because it feels like it's part of that region. The NPCs there have so many cool new outfits- I think they should absolutely include those in the shops.

It depends. If they end up letting them build worlds, people might go to those servers because they're better than normal OSRS. Also those servers wouldn't be infested with bots.

OSRS players confuse me. I remember when the wildy was first banned. Everyone hated it… and yet they don’t go there nowadays. They don’t care for the wildy. I went to do some wildy agility course and I got a couple of pkers hopping worlds, but for the most part the wildy was empty of players. If osrs players keep this mindset and don’t allow for new content, they’ll end up getting rs3 where the wildy is harmless.

Yes on the frog idea, don't make a direct sequel. But it would be funny to see them reappear, sort of how the goblin generals keep appearing in various random quests.

Love your suggestion for incorporating the frogs in future varlamore quests. It's very niche but I think you would do amazing writing game quests/lore

Jagex should stitch you up and change the clothes shop in varlamore to “exotic clothes shop” and keep the items the same as the varrock clothes shop because to citizens of varlamore that would be exotic :P

you mention the idea of dedicated tanking. I hope more than anything jagex look at the ACTUAL targeting system before trying to impliment something, imagine someone tryna tank only to watch a bunch of ads kill a mage cuz he hit them first.

The Zanaris servers might be amusing to see for things like challenge runs where everyone is running on a shared set of unique rules like chunkman. Everyone starting from a chunk and spreading out from there with the chunk restrictions being hardcoded for everyone and running with people supporting each other as they all unlock different paths from the core chunk. Or maybe everyone having a shared questlist, with people running through quest chains and working to clear the entire questlist as fast as possible

@42:10 Is my exact thoughts. I don't care about someone doing something unique on a custom server. I care about unique accomplishments in the main game. It's so much more unique to see them out in the wild and be able to interact with them or knowing that the account for most part has a certain integrity to it (I know some can be faked).

39:10 I can guarantee you community servers will be a paid feature and new players will not drop the new increased membership price to try them, just play f2p I'd love to be proven wrong, but there's no way in hell they'll let a custom server have members content in it for people to play for free

bruh, get a private server, find a way to turn off all respawns, and then have a series going around killing everything in the game until there are no killable mobs or npcs left.

I feel like a world boss would do amazing if it was able to have the same spawn rate and mechanics, but instead have it be all over the world and give some sort of bonus or incentive for a spawn in the wilderness.
