This is another original poem with an original soundtrack. The narrator in this production is the talented Melissa, and you should check out her work. This poem is about separation that could be interpreted as a separation of lovers but it could be friends or family. As always you can ignore my comments and interpret it in any way you like. If I was in the library of your mind for a while,
I would place the smell of coffee next to the memory of you learning how to ride the bicycle
So you would remember that you have to start in order to find your balance
I would erase the feeling of sunlight on your skin
So you would experience it again for the first time
I would help you blur the mental image of your self-imposed imperfections
Because feeling beautiful is a decision.
Maybe tamper with the spelling of your name,
Just to mess with you.
I realized that our existence can only be mirrored in the minds of others
And my favorite reflection was in yours.
So I won't touch your memory of me.
But I would selfishly hide a tiny piece of my laugh into your favorite song,
So you would remember my stupid jokes
And maybe laugh alone like the weirdo you are.
I won't read any of the things you didn't tell me about you,
I promise
This is goodbye, oh beautiful human
But before I disappear from your head,
Ι would immerse myself into the deepest shadows of your unconscious mind.

There is more going on than you can probably imagine. It's a trap, life on Earth is not the real thing. So basing "others" memories of your life on this is a mistake in general. I know I'm a bit weird to interpret this beautiful poem in this way but for me when I read the title the first thing that came to my mind was goodbyes in the literal sense. Like losing someone to death. And throughout the video, I felt like someone who has died has left a note for their loved ones to stop missing them and start living again, happily, with their memories and telling them how much they've loved and cared for them despite all their imperfections. Idk, but for me this poem revolved around this specific phase.

I'm in the same situation, I had someone in my life, i had feelings for him and at the same time we were really close friends. I had to cut him out because the closer we got the more I turned blue, our relationship was hurting me. And when i kicked him out of my life i didn't only lose someone that i loved, but i also lost one of my closest friends. Someone that i would send voice messages crying in the middle of the night, and who would console me, we had such a different connection. Bc of that this poem really hit different. Yet i want to leave you all with another poem, a poem about letting go. I hope you like it and i hope it helps

I’d like you to know that I return to this poem every so often, the way I do to my favorite poems. It hurts so much because it resonates so specifically-for past experiences I’ve had, and also very current ones. And I can’t revisit too often because of how much it hurts, but that is also a testament to this poem’s power. The mixture of specificity and ambiguity that makes it so vivid while also vague enough to resonate in a personal, profound way. Not to mention the gorgeous reading that walks the line between objective and just emotional enough, so it’s neither flat nor overly done. Bravo. I can’t thank you enough.

I just watched this poem and I’m so touched. Hearing this reminds me with every beat of how much I miss my ex girlfriend who killed herself 3 months and 6 days ago out of the blue for me. I miss her every single day since then so much, and I’m not even sure how I should get my last year of school over without her. By the time she killed herself we were broken up for the good months ago, but she was also my smartest, dearest, and purest best friend I ever had. I… this entire poem reminds me of her and of how that words could be her words to me. The last line made me tear up so much, because she was always my rock between my demons (school) and now she is gone and I still can’t believe any of it… how didn’t I notice that you were depressed and in danger? How could I let you go so easily? I’m so so sorry and I miss u so incredibly much…

Thank you for making this poem, it’s beautiful. This year I lost a very close friend to suicide, he was so caring and he taught me so much of what it felt like to be loved by someone selflessly. This felt like wine to the intellect and the eyes and the ears. You have weaved all of it so elegantly and intricately together. There's so much detail behind this. Like at 1:08 "my favorite reflection was in yours" the prison bars showcase how sometimes, it's a beautiful thing to be imprisoned as an image inside someone else. I would like to think about this as a message from a person that appeared in my dreams. I didn't know him - I think. That ending was hard hitting - "so the next time you face your demons you might think that someone loved you." 😔 I think its easy to forget that especially when you are in the dark and your mind is in a bad place - I find during those moments its very easy to feel as if you're alone and not worthy of love and you may even doubt whether those whom you were once very close to even loved you at all- but of course they did and those moments in the past were very real. Another line I found very sad was: "I realise our existence can only be mirrored in the minds of others and my favourite reflection was in yours" I interpreted that as how the other person views you- for me this is a separation from a person who knew you the most and understood you and loved you for who you are. It is poignant. ❤️

Luckily I found this when I least expected. My boyfriend passed away 2 years ago from a stroke and I didn't have a chance to say goodbye or heard his last words. This feels like exactly what he'd have told me if he had that chance. I need this. Thanks a lot

I lost my beautiful dogs over a year now. It has been a very difficult time of mourning, trying to find resignation, especially because of the circumstances. Your video has helped me to assimilate the pain, and emotional trauma this episode has in my life. I know how my guys loved me, as I did love them in return; they were lifesavers in a dark time of my life. Thank you; your video and words have found purpose in this digital age… at least for me.

It is insane how many feelings came up in me while watching this several times. It is like finally someone is putting feelings in the corners of my heart in words and images. This is the most beautiful Goodbye I ever heard. I wish I could have said something similar to a very special person in my life. This cut and hurt...on many levels. To mourn someone still alive...the death of oneself...the realization at the end of a life that love was all there really was, and it was traded for something else. To the writer, I hope you are still young. I'm glad you didn't have to die like me to gain that knowledge. It's a hard way to learn. This is a learning experience in how to Love. How to accept love. To understand how precious it is. It's all there is and it's all we are. When we go home, there's nothing BUT LOVE...so we take it for granted. Here we get hurt. Here we hurt others. I was allowed to take all the Love I received with me to keep. I watched it...my life unfold before my eyes, and when it came time, I also had to take all the pain I ever gave away. I stood in the heart of everyone I ever hurt with an ego that was violently murdered and I was stripped raw in front of God and the universe and everyone I ever loved. That pain is multiplied by thousands because there's no justifying it. It's not ours to measure. Then I was given back all the Love I GAVE in life and it was weighed against the pain. God's Love was infinite and ultimately unwavering the whole time and I was consumed with it. After that I was left with what was left. I'm glad I loved more than I hurt people because we have to Love with whatever is left. I spend every day trying to love others. I only have a hard time with myself❤

to me it was absolutely a goodbye. a heartbreaking one. that's the beauty, for me, of good poetry. It affects the individual reading it in a different way as their own opinions, life experiences and especially fears and heart aches play more of a role in what you read in it than what is written.

i get close to people and then slowly push them away again and repeat the cycle so if they ever decided to say goodbye it won’t hurt as badly. it’s very lonely in my head.

I have a habit of imagining such poems never in the context of me. I always place myself in other's shoes and think whom of all the people I know would ever be thinking like this about me. I know I have hurt them all but it was for their own good, I don't deserve such good people. I know someday they will be hating me so much that they even will not think anymore about me and that's what I want....

Okay so this will never be seen but this poem helped me so much, its impossible to explain how many times I have sobbed listening to it. So I made this poem inspired by it: If I could wander in the lines of your mind for a while, I would whisper my favorite song into the blank songbooks, so you would would never feel empty and sob harmoniously in your darkest corners, so you would never feel alone, because your pain is worth my despair. I would sew the sound of my breathing into the seams of your self-critical musings, because you are worth my breath, and I would scribble motivation into the margins of your doubts, And paste over ink blots left behind by others, with paper that feels like moonlight because you are worth my care. I would leave the ugly chapters alone for now, Definitions are not found mid-page, But around them I would leave your memories of fresh winter air, to remind you that even strongest protagonist faces the seasons of life and that the finest paper is rough around the edges. this is hello, oh beautiful human, but before my touch fades into future deja vu, I would weave bits of my stories into the heaviness of your brow Unopened love letters to bid you adieu and I would read your stories and laugh and miss you, oh love I have yet to know Thank you Illneas.
