2:50 that line of “it shouldn’t take a sickness or airplanes falling out the sky” is very literal to blink’s situation. Mark was diagnosed with cancer during their breakup, he called up Tom and at that moment Tom and the boys said forget everything man, this friendship we have should mean more to us than a simple disagreement. And the airplane line is about Travis’ accident where half of his body was literally burnt from some years ago. This is the boys saying “I love you, I’m sorry and I’m maturing” all at the same time to each other. Also having all of them sing the words “I miss you” is another blink reference to one of their most iconic songs. Another thing, Travis actually mixed and produced this song, and I’ve heard rumors (don’t quote me on this) but I heard that he produced this entire upcoming album. That’s something I really like about Travis, and something he’s worked on throughout these past couple of years. He’s produced for Avril Lavigne, KennyHoopla, nothing nowhere, Machine Gun Kelly, Jxdn, Escape The Fate, Girlfriends and Mod Sun, just to name a few. Travis is arguably one of my favorite musicians ever, up there with Mike Shinoda and Eminem.

Unfortunately he’s not one of the best producers. He over produced the vocals too much on this and edging. Too robotic but it’s still a good song but would have been a 10/10 if they let someone else produce.

This song was a look for us to see their healing, the words are extremely powerful because it hits you in the feels. Everyone knows about Mark having cancer, everyone knows about Travis, almost dying in a plane crash. It shouldn’t have to take those tragedies to have these guys realize that they love each other that they’re friends and that they are bonded by the magic that has always been this band. Unexpectedly beautiful, I love this song and I can’t wait to hear the new album 🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻

Well I think this song also wouldn’t quite exist and have such impact if not for the fans dogging the fuck out of Tom and Mark to pull their shit together and make music again-not that it wasn’t warranted because it was. These guys belong together in the studio and on stage. This song was 100% fan service as much as therapy and recommitment from the guys.

@@UndeadLavender my dude what is it that you think you know about Tom’s “addictions” ? I watched Tom like a hawk, I’m a super fan, and I used to do heroin. Tom was able to cold turkey the pain killers, which is the only real ‘dependency’ that he openly talked about ever, and it doesn’t speak to an addiction that he was able to just quit. Addicts cannot *just quit* that’s why it’s an addiction. He was dependent. He up and quit because he realized he had withdrawals without them. That’s all. There was no major addiction thing going on there to public knowledge. He just blew it out of proportion in a few interviews like he does with most things. He was pretty high on his own farts for the better end of a decade. That’s just this super fan’s perception that pays a lot of attention and knows something about drugs.

What many don't know is Tom himself was on the road to death by addiction to opiate painkillers in the early 2000s, which is what prompted the darker music with Boxcar Racer and subsequent Blink album. The whole BCR thing only widened the rift that was already growing. So they all have had to overcome tremendous adversity on their own just for this to happen and I couldn't be more pleased with this album. Feels like 2003 all over again & I'm stoked to be here for it

For many genX or millennials this is a crazy song. I think Blink was a huge influence on many kids late 90s/ early 00s. It’s rare a band around that long will split, regroup, split and regroup and put out a new track that literally kills. That is for the fans and for the band, how many legacy acts drop a new song and only the diehard fans care. Yet Blink regroups sells out tours and festivals and puts out a damn emotional sad happy song that takes over. It’s so rare for any band with that mileage behind them to put out something like this and get such a great response (ironically Rolling Stones age 50 also did this recently) but man this was great I don’t think anyone can say otherwise. It’s like being transported into 1999, but you know it isn’t and it’s 2023 and everything is different but it isn’t too

I am absolutely in love with this song. Being online for the drop yesterday and seeing the amount of people in the live chat waiting for this was just amazing. I was crying by the end of the video yesterday. Blink 182 got me through some shit in my preteen and adolescent years, so they will always have a place in my heart. Another reactor (their name escapes me ATM) said yesterday this is like a love letter to themselves and all their fans and that really hit me. Just in case you didn't know: the song is about them getting back together, realizing what is most important. That is also why Mark is singing about a sickness and planes falling from the sky. He is referring to the plane crash Travis was in and the battle Mark himself had with cancer. The latter made Tom realize that all he wanted was to be with those guys again and make music together. There is much more to it of course, the made a video of it on their official channel. Be sure to check it out! Gives so much more meaning to this song.

That powerful final bell sound at 3:21 in the mv is like a death knell or funeral toll. You can hear it in the background, starting at 2:03 coinciding with "Do I have to die to hear you miss me?" It grows louder and harder to ignore, as if to highlight the reflecting on our remaining time moving ever closer toward death (For whom the bell tolls...it tolls for thee.). Damn.

So idk if a lot of people know but the line “it shouldn’t take a sickness or a plane falling out the sky” mark the bass player had cancer like a year or 2 ago (Thankfully he’s cancer free) and Travis the drummer nearly died to a plane crash, so that’s the symbolization of the lyrics to the band for anyone who never caught that

I think they're probably my favourite band of all time to be honest, and I'm so happy there back. I did stop listening to music for a while but I'm back to listening to them to everyday. My reaction to this video was the same as Kyle's, and there so many throwbacks to different songs like, first date, always, Adam's Song. Ive listened/watched this video so many times already. As a kid they were my absolute favorite and I never stopped loving their music and listening to it. Now fast forward and I'm 33. This song really hits home hard and brings up the greatest memories of best friends that I have had loss of contact with. I think the amount of emotion this song produces is exactly what we needed, and the facial expressions of Kyle while he was listening explain it all.

If you know the backstory of this song, it makes much different emotions. I was on their concert 4 days ago in Prague and it was one of my biggest life experience! 🔥 I was jumping, screaming, singing and crying by joy! It brings me back 16 years ago when i was riding bmx, skinny jeans from ladies store, swedish shirt and blinks in my ears. So happy that they're alive and together again. 🙏

Me and my best friend that was basically my brother used to listen to blink religiously. We both grew up with each other from the age of 5 up until 17 when I found him hanging in his backyard he took his own life. It’s nostalgic. Showing their memories, it also opens up some very deep wounds I have still hearing them talk about the years of friendship missed but it also brings back all of the good memories I had with him. That was 14 years ago and it still fucking hurts. Hearing the “do I have to die to hear you miss me? Do I have to die to hear you say goodbye” broke me. I held it together somewhat before but that floored me

we relate to this song because we all have those friendships where we were close as brothers or sisters and eventually for whatever reason we grew apart from each other … don’t wait one more day to rekindle those friendships because you never know that one day could be your last , and we don’t want that day to be the time that we say goodbye or that we miss you or say that we love you … Mark Travis and Tom have realised this and we all relate to their story

I never considered myself to be a Blink 182 fan, but now watching this video, I realize that I am! I recognized all the previous videos backgrounds. This band was present during most of my military career missions in the mid 90s, and I remember them giving us great music to play during our cookouts and gatherings...this is a great track!!!

So many mixed emotions resurfacing after watching 182’s new single. MANY individuals can relate to their song. My friend I served with in the Army never gave up reaching out to his friends including myself. One day I come home and my wife is in tears. She looked at me with that type of look that someone died close to us. I dropped to my knees and all I felt was agony and pain . It had taken me some time to accept this. This song is nostalgic and it hurt watching it however, it made me remember the good moments. The message I perceived was to never waste time and hold those close to you even closer and always stay in touch. Love you Jake rest in peace my brother.

Comletely agree. And even though it's not one of their singles with an actual video accompanying it, their new song "Fell In Love" has been stuck in my head all day. I really think if it was released 15 years ago when punk/pop-punk was at the height of its popularity, it'd have been a huge hit running nonstop on radios all over the world. The only difference is even with the catchiness, it still has that more mature, post-2003 self-titled Blink sound.

"Strangers, from strangers into brothers From brothers into strangers once again" They formed the band (strangers>brothers) and then Tom left the band abruptly to do him own thing (brothers>strangers) "I wish they told us, it shouldn't take a sickness or airplanes falling out the sky" Mark was diagnosed with cancer (now cancer free) and that's what brought them back together and in 2008 Travis (and DJ AM) survived a plane crash that killed 4 others on board.
