IVE HAD ALOT OF REQUESTS FOR DEPOPULATING VIDEOS . IVE ALREADY SHOWN HOW I DO MY BOARDS WITH A HEAT GUN SO THIS TIME I SHOW HOW I SCRAP POWER SUPPLIES THIS VIDEO WAS MADE BY EWASTE RECYCLER #ewaste recycler #ewasterecycler
Great video. Good to know what to go after for recovering precious metals. I didn't know that the mosfets(?) have gold. Have torn down a couple power supplies before, mainly for the copper and the heatsinks, so now I'll have to go back and pull those mosfets (left them on the board) and check to see if I left anything else like transistors and fuses. I'm pretty sure I still have the boards yet, at least I hope so! I am learning so much and greatly appreciate you taking the time and effort to teach us. Thank you!
Going back to the basics, love it...... I amagen there is alot of people that don't realize how long it takes to scrap down ewaist to get enough of something to refine. Another great video, thank you
The mosfets are indeed transistors. Gold, silver, and a lot of copper. The black cylinders with gray / silver stripe are diodes. Think of a one-way check valve for current. They have gold and silver. I reckon you can burn the mosfets, 3 legged transistors, diodes, and IC chips all together. Then, pull out the copper after washing the ash and before gravity separation of the bond wires. Maybe you have a better method to share regarding the mosfets... Have you processed any of the glass / solid cylindrical fuses yet? Interested in what to do about them... Yep, there's a lot of copper in a PC power supply.
yeah thats what i do , i process things like mosfits , transistors , ic chips etc all together . and yeah i get alot of copper from the mosfits and transistors . i havent done glass fuses yet because im still trying to collect enough for a video
@prospectorpete I am looking forward to seeing that one. There's the glass and end caps to contend with. Many have leads soldered to the caps, which I cut off.
The wire is zinc coated copper. I've stripped it for years. Takes a bunch to fill a bucket though. I cut them in 6" pieces strip one end then pull the wire with pliers.
thanks for the video, was wondering have you ever estimated how much value you get from the stripped down PS, as oppose to selling the whole thing to the scrap yard?
yeah i did a video a while back , actually i did two . one on how much gold is in a computer and one on how much gold is in a laptop . but its only an estimate because its so hard to do tiny batches. i find it much easier to atleast have a couple of hundred grams of each item
