I am trying to help with the latter. Maybe ask your supporters to share the video with friends. At the time of me watching this and subscribing to your channel, you have 5.6K subscribers. If each of them shares your channel with just one friend, that can make a HUGE difference in the number of subscribers. Please don't give up. I know they are a lot of work but you have already beaten the odds. You just have to keep trying to make this a viable income.

Hi Chloe and Ludvig, what caught my attention with your videos was the train travel videos. Thanks for this! It's really helpful and interesting for those of us who are growing our channels! For me, I started off just like you during the pandemic and wanted to get all my travel pictures together in video format to remember them and share my adventures with friends and family. We are going through exactly the same thing as you guys did, we have over 6K hours of watch time but not enough subs yet to get monetized. We also have day jobs, so we can not commit to traveling full time, hopefully one day 🙂. It's pretty cool to hear that someone else had the same experience. Thank you for sharing!

Aw so happy to hear you can relate! I’ve not heard of too many people hitting their watch time far before subs - it’s all a waiting game haha. And yes working Sy job’s definitely slows things down a little - fingers crossed RU-vid becomes the main job for us both one day! It’s honestly so much more fun than we could’ve ever imagined to finally be monetised! Hang in there!!!

RU-vid is quite the roller-coaster! Everyone's journeys are so vastly different- but at the same time, totally relatable. We actually managed to get monetized in only three months. We then went on to subsequently grow at a freakin' snails pace from then on, and haven't even managed to get another 1000 subs in the next half year. 😂🐌 We have also only earned between $50-70 each month from the beginning- so you guys have done a lot better than us! No 40K income over here. There are just SO many factors that determine income, having your videos actualy pushed and making any sort of success. People who have never done RU-vid- or those who have never taken the time to teach themselves how to film and edit from scratch, have no idea the amount of work that goes into making content. Although we certainly didn't cry, we can 100% relate to getting those first dislikes and rude comments. So much work, jusr to have someone 💩 all over it. People can be jerks. Haha.

Aw thanks for the comment guys! We love hearing about others' RU-vid journeys. It's so interesting that everyone's experiences differs in such extremes! Very cool you were able to monetise quickly, but yes, the views and subscribers are hard to maintain or grow. We have recently had a influx of views dues to one video - which we've been told by many RU-vidrs that's the key... to get the 'one' video to catch on in the 'algorithm' and everything else will follow, so we shall see! Haha, I'm a super emotional person. I'm sure most people don't cry at a thumbs down. But happy report, this no longer happens haha. People have no idea how much effort these videos take - so again, it's great to connect with others who do! :D Just subscribed to your chan! Will check out your vids!

@@chloeandludvig We noticed that! That's freakin' amazing for you guys. An almost 500K video is INSANE! Congrats! You're right though. All it takes is one. We've watched RU-vid for over a decade, and are always trying to study it, and see what works well for others! We're currently unable to full time travel, but once we do, we have a few ideas to try and give ourselves that push. Hopefully it happens for us one day as well! 🤞 And thanks, guys! 🍻

I want to say my guess is they made around $800. Edit: wow that’s amazing! I loved how the currency was looked at in terms of how many coffees they could buy 😂😂. 2000+ watch hours on a month is freaking insane. Would be interesting to see a 1 year update. Would like to think that with more and more videos uploaded, the amount of views continues to compound upwards. So in a way, making content is like making an investment. Anyway that was cool. this is interesting. So, one of the people I watch on RU-vid, has had 107,000 views in the last 21 hours so the is $816,410??? and in just 21 hours? Oh wait that is views, not watch time so it is significantly less, most likely but still a lot of dollars.

woo, my guess is not even close to the actual answer. XD This brings back memories of my very first job during high school as a paperboy. I remember my first paid was NZD$4 for the entire month (about 5 deliveries) Then I carried on with the job for a year and I started earning approximately NZD$150 for every 5 deliveries. Anyways, keep up the good work and you shall earn more than just a coffee in no time~

Yeah, but it's early days. Kara and Nate have 3.2 million subscribers, so you can make a living from it if you get your numbers up. However, RU-vid stardom and an endless holiday might come at the expense of having kids.
