Great to hear from you and the crew....Happy New Year on behalf of the Air France and KLM crews !!!!Great spirit comes from your great country ....thank you for keeping me posted in 2022😉
Man, one thing I have learned from this channel is that there is a lot more , actually an awfully lot more that goes on aboard such a ship than I could have ever imagined. I guess I always figured it was kind of like trucking where they pick up a load and deliver it and job done , but it is far from that. Thank You for sharing these videos and enlightening the rest of Us about Life and work aboard a ship. God Bless You & Your crew , here s to a safe , happy , and productive 2022.
It's a bit like flying cargo internationally. You stay on the aircraft for sometimes a day or more, depending on the cargo, destination, time of flight, and the aircraft configuration. It's just... waaaay longer on a ship.
Cheers to all the seafarers, all around the world, for making things go, no matter what goes on 👍🏽👍🏽 and many thanks to you Chief for bringing all of this to the world🙏🏽🙏🏽 🎉Happy New Year 🎉
Hi Chief, My name is Dariusz from Poland. I was seamen for several years, now working for Scanship AS supplies the cruise industry with waste treatment systems all over the world, still related to ships. Watching Your channel I miss the seamen's life, especially when working with the Philippino crew, the best in the world. Keep on going Chieff😉😉Hapy New year.
Being married to Filipina for 17 years now and having lived in the Philippines I can totally relate to your celebrations and the energy you guys bring to the party. Happy New Year Chief and to your crew, may the winds be at your back and seas calm this 2022.
Chief Makoi, we as seafarers appreciate yoo for your efforts to show us interrelation among us is very important, hope you continue thia experience and god be with,, salute engineer
Very nice! I cut short my merchant marine career after 2 voyages through big storms along west coast USA and in the gulf of Alaska with old alcoholic grumpy crew mates. Never achieved my dream of smooth voyages with a happy crew ..... till I viewed your RU-vid’s. Thanks Chief
There was something about seeing the crew, so many miles from home, from their loved ones still smiling and singing that warmed my heart, and maybe my ocular lubrication valves leaked a wee bit as I reminisced. As a former sailor and trawlerman I know how much the holidays can bring you down. Really nice video Chief. I hope 2022 is a safe, happy and prosperous new year for you and those brave folk who help make the world go round. Regards from Scotland.
As an old retired marine engineer thank this brought back a lot of great memories. Thank you from Australia and merry christmas and have a great & prosperous 2022 with both you time at home with you family and as sea with you work family.👍🥂
Brings back memories when I used to work with my dad for ILA local 2022 in Houston Tx. I did this work back when I was in high school (1994-98) and it definitely helped keep me out of trouble while traveling and visiting other port cities across the U.S.
Fair Winds,Safe Seas and Safety First..Its often happened in our job.May you and your crew Bless,on your sojourn of duty and journey until finish contract.Mabuhay Sir.
Another great Insight into ship life. The crew looked like they had an excellent time over the festive period. Great food and an all-round great atmosphere in the vlog. Hope you have a great year and get home to your family soon and safe. Looking forward to your excellent vlogs and amazing look at ship life and shipping in general.👍🏴🇳🇱
Sometimes the work is long, hard and seemingly never ending. There's always something else that needs to be done. And it's easy to be a little down, when you're so far from home, and family, especially during the holiday season. But what I see in your videos that really makes me happy, is to see that the crew is, for all their differences or where they're from, they ARE a family!
Being away from family on the holiday is tough, particularly if you have young children, and no amount of pay can make up for that. My wife and I are both paramedics and have missed more holidays than we've had together as a family. The sacrifices you and your fellow crew members make keep the our modern world running. Thank you for that.
not only that if you are on a east or westbound run you have a timeshift about every 2 days, now imagine all those people ashore complaining every year when winter or summertime is adapted and how 'it messes up their bioritme'....
@@jawadad802 Absolutely! In a regular service between the US west coast and Japan, Korea, HongKong and Taiwan; each day one hour and nobody complaining.
I briefly served as a ship physician in an interisland shipping here in the Philippines and i celebrated a christmas while at sea. It was a memorable experience.
I absolutely love seeing the happy, smiling faces of the crew members ! It speaks volumes about Chief MAOKi 's ability to ensure the well-being of his crew in spite of schedule uncertainties. It also speaks very highly of the professionalism of crew and their work ethic. Happy New Year to each and every one of those crew members and to you, Chief MAOKi !
Thanks' Chief. Having grown up with Philippines [I am an Army brat] I have always felt the Philippines were the happiest people I have ever known , no matter where they are. Please keep up the good work and you are welcome in Florida any time. Happy New Year my friend.
Very nice Chief. When I was in college I had an instructor that was in the US Merchant Marine. Of course we studied boilers, diesels, Transformers, pumps, etc. Watching your videos brings me back lots of memories those are great times. Thank you for all your great videos keep them coming.
Great video, Chief! Retired Bosun here, a veteran of probably 50 at-sea Christmas and New Years parties. Now, I will never have to celebrate at sea again, cause I get to be home with wife and family and friends. Do I miss celebrating at sea? NOT A BIT! Although, sometimes, yeah, there are some good memories, I have to admit. Love your videos! Keep them coming! I really feel for you guys with all the covid crap these days. I had to go to my union hall a few months ago to let them know I am still alive and please keep sending my pension check every month... A lot of our guys are stuck on ships, cant get relief, and a lot of our guys stuck ashore, can't get on a ship to make some money. It's rough times we live in, and bad times for us all usually means worse times for the guys who are still going to sea. Best to you, your family, and your shipmates in these difficult times.
I use to do cross country trucking in the U.S, which sometimes kept me out over Christmas. One thing I learned is that the important thing isn't WHEN you celebrate, but THAT you celebrate (regardless of whatever holidays you participate in).
That was awesome. We would have never known what goes on, the challenges, restrictions, fixes and celebrations. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year to you, your family and ship mates.
Yes those holiday parties are extremely important for crew morale. Otherwise you are dragging your mood around on the deck behind you. Well done chief. Have a good watch.
Happy new year to you all. My father was 20 odd years in the Merchant Navy in the 50s and 60s. In the days of no internet and long distance messages got passed from ship to ship by the sparky. Father was in the pacific when my twin and I were born in Scotland.
All the best Chief for this year, nice to have the ladies come on board and sell items, we had a dear lady who did the same where we live years ago, she would go out of her way to obtain goods for the sailors .
“a loy of seafarers tend to be more homesick during this times ( Holiday Season)”. - as a seafarer before, i felt these words. Longing for our love ones is the most painful situation we felt on board but we will endure this trying times. Godbless sir. Salute and keep safe to all seafarer around the world, Fighting for your family. - 3e Ramirez
Nah...it wouldn't taste the same. You're wondering? I know because I'm a Filipino and having the cultural ritual (manual turning spit, basting by hand, etc) makes you "feel" the lechon will taste original just as if it were cooked in the Philippines.
As a 7th child, youngest and only girl in my family the holidays were awesome. With most gone now holidays have just become lonely and sad. I have a beautiful 16yo and seeing her smile opening her presents and decorating the tree is what I live for. Thank you for this video, you show that even away from home, you guys are the family you need! God Bless!
Growing up in Vancouver, seeing all the cargo ships waiting at anchor in English Bay, I always wondered what was the life of the people onboard, your channel is answering all these questions. Thanks for sharing!
Not the best, long hours, low pay, and the people hiring you can treat you like shit and get away with it. I suggest you look up exactly how the cruise lines treat heir below deck workers and be prepared to have your eyes opened.... it's a rabbit hole of abuse and neglect and most people don't even bother learning about it or realize what's going on when they take their nice holiday Cruise...
Thanks for all you and your crew (and those of other ships) do. If it wasn't for you guys working hard schlepping stuff all over the world, we'd not have what we need. I can't even keep my stovetop clean and here you are cleaning out giant bowls with coal dust. Woof.
a very happy HNY to you and all the crew Chief - I miss my time at sea (ex Royal Navy submariner here) - was great comradery and a sense of one team - fair winds and a safe passage team - all the best
I spent the 1980s on submarines. On patrol there really wasn't much we could do for celebrating Christmas. But the cooks always made sure our Christmas dinner was the best meal of the year. Fair winds & following seas to you & your crew.
Thanks for this video Sir Makoi. This will encouarge more to those who are taking maritime course. Buti pa dyan sa barko masaya kayo while dito nkakaboring lalo na pag airborne ng 14hrs. Thanks for uploading more videos sir. I love your vids related to the engine room and aux. mach. onboard your vessel, very educational. Nakaka-relate lang po, I was taken BSMAR-E before pero dko tinapos, aviation pinili ko. More power to your channel Sir Chief... Ingat at safe sailing always👍
I knew this was a great video from title and rep. but when I saw the great inventory from the Visiting Store, I was enchanted. Everything in the store was high-quality, top-of-the-line merchandise AND exactly what you want too, packed together. I've only seen few stores like it. Whatta concept - instant Christmas shopping for everybody, one stop. I'd buy their whole stock for a good price. Plus what a joy year round ta see what that top buyer can scour up shoreside and pick up for everybody since last time, next time. Sea life MUST rival living on land with different and delightful surprises like the Visting Store(s). Thanks for showing me/us one of the finer things of sea life.
That was awesome! I used to wonder how things were doing aboard a ship that's in the middle of the ocean. I thank you for the presentation of life aboard ship.
Chief, again, thank you very much for your posting. You know that I spent many years at sea myself before “swallowing the anchor “ so I honestly feel that I can honestly comment about your vlogs! For people that watch them with some attention, they probably give the best view of life at sea that I have seen. No matter what department you are in. Please keep them coming, take a break if you need to, don’t forget your family, but, don’t forget us, your other family. All the very best to you !
Thank you for the insight where few get to go. It makes me grateful for what I have here on land. Belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your crewmates.
I have spent a lot of time on varied international cargo ships doing radar and other technical installations while under way. They consisted of various crews from all over the world. By far the nicest people I have met and worked with were the Philippine crews.
Thanks for sharing the life of a Mariner. I will never live it but I love to know about what its like. Thanks for sharing and Thanks for doing what you do-we couldnt have what we do with out you.
Gotta agree with all the other viewers...this was just wonderful to watch!! All the best in 2022 Chief for you, your crew, and all your families!! Here's to hoping for a better year ahead!
