Stream 1 of any game, the game is amazing because the tips are good. Then by stream 2 the tips drop to nil again and he hates and despises the game until he either pig-forces to the finish or wage-quits.
the sweet roll man When confronted with intense feelings from hard games, a player can either blame himself for his own failures or blame something else, because for one obstacle less, he would have aced the challenge and just fully remain prideful.
What’s funny is that you basement v 1 r g 1 n s I KNOW can’t beat this game lmfaooooooo. But keep claiming Dsp is bad at games. Projection at its finest
I don't think being able to parry everything would necessarily mean that you don't need to dodge anything, just like how in SF3, the ability to parry any attack does not mean every match ends in a draw.
I feel like it's really hard to find someone like Phil. LowTierGod sure is salty idiot but I don't find him interesting, I love watching this guy live his life, makes me feel better about myself.
21:53: "I'D HATE TO SAY IT, BUT SO FAR THIS GAME SEEMS LIKE LITTLE MORE THAN AN AVERAGE NES PLATFORMER HIDING BEHIND AN OVER-THE-TOP RETRO CARTOON GIMMICK AND SOME NOT-SO-SUBTLE 1900'S SOCIAL SATIRE." k.
@@Jose-en9wu Haven't started on it. The night I said this a friend gifted me Bug Fables and I've been playing hard mode on that. Classes have been getting in my way, and I plan on looking into Cuphead after Bug Fables and possibly after I play Spiral Scouts & Among The Sleep. (This is assuming nobody will gift me Ori 2 during this timestamp) I have the problem where I don't put down a game until I either finish it, or am so fed up & disgusted that I don't enjoy it
@@No_Sleepee ah, I’ve not heard of any of these games you’ve mentioned but I looked into Bug Fables and it seems like something i’d enjoy; so, how’s that been for you? Regardless, that’s fair. I have the opposite problem, i’ll generally play a game until one day I decide I don’t feel like playing it that day, then never touch it again
@@Jose-en9wu Bug Fables is a spiritual successor to the original 2 Paper Mario games (64 and The Thousand Year Door), and it feels completely natural by comparison. It is both the biggest love letter to fans of the Paper Mario RPGs, and a slap in the face to Nintendo that the big N simply refuses to indulge and free-dive into the creative chasm that is the Paper Mario Series, and instead keep making the same platform spinoff-type games. The writing is on par, if not better, than the humor and character you see with the Party Members and NPCs in TTYD. It's fun, but the bosses can get a little ridiculous when playing on Hard Mode. I'm stuck on the Chapter 3 Boss and genuinely contemplating on throwing in the towel just to beat it and progress, or if I should continue to tough it out and try to go for perfect optimization. Also, if you're at least a little bit interested, I highly reccommend you check the soundtrack to the game. "His friends call him Spuder" "This one's stronger" and "Lost Sands" are incredible
I love how whenever Phil learns a new gaming term he's never heard of, he uses it non-stop. In this case it's RNG. Remember when he learned "beginner's trap"? Or how about "net code" for when he gets his ass kicked playing fighting games online?
So I was watching this and was thinking. "Wow phil isn't blaming the game. This is actually better than usual" Then he got to the dragon boss and it went back to Classic Phil
Mysticide Then he got better, with the exception of the robot and the octopus. He was tolerable until he fought the devil. His fight with Armstrong is less pathetic than his fight with the devil.
Honestly, Phil performed better than I did at several of these bosses. He made it to Inkwell Isle 2 with only 16 deaths? That's pretty good. I want to give him credit where it's due.
This is true - however the reason this game might’ve gone easier for him was because he didn’t really need to use his brain - struggles unreasonably with puzzles in games, and the second he has to use even a morsel of thought in a given situation he shuts down completely. When he got the homing shooter he only had to think about dodging at the end and even with that I would argue he’s still crap at it. It’s not even entirely a skill issue. Notice how the second an element of a boss requires him to think at all he starts blaming other things more like “glitches”.
Oh man, this TIHYDP is great. I think it would be perfect to have an epilogue showing his Twitter rant from earlier today about how he was good at the game and wasn't bad like everyone thought.
I don't know what Phils death counter in this game was but he was definitely 'bad' at this game. Phil used the easy mode homing shot half the time. This is some Dark Souls level of utter failure right here. Does Phil break 200 deaths? Just imagine if the homing shot didn't exist and Phil actually had to aim.
I didn't watch the whole thing but It's painful to know that not counting the 20-25 deaths caused by lag (the laptop I have to use these days is really bad but I only really lagged in the Devil fight), Phil died only a bit less than 100 times compared to me. I didn't use the homing shot at all in the entire game but I did use the triple shot a lot in the last parts of the game (almost all of world 3 and Hell). I secretly hope that his 186 deaths counter thing isn't legit and that he got more that weren't counted.
"This guy says this game sucks. No, this game does not suck, you're wrong. it's just difficult." wow, DSP saying that. This is probably one of his 'best' playthroughs, even if the commentary is still bland. Only because he acknowledges his mistakes and doesn't blame the game for his fuck ups.
I'm genuinely impressed by that - baroness is the first boss in the game that truly feels ass numbinlgy hard. She took me forever too, though it was super fun. But in classic Phil fashion, he's then struggling super hard with the Clown, who really wasn't all THAT difficult IMO, especially compared to Baroness and Djimmi
You did way better than me haha. Overall I have the most trouble with the flying stages, especially in worlds 2 and 3 when they introduce shmup elements.
Dude, im surprised he actually PARRIES stuff. He is actually better than a lot of the youtubers out there that just scream at the screen for no reason.
"I don't want to be one of those people that yells into the camera and pretends to be scared". He said as he screamed at the camera yelling about condiments.
I watched a bit of his stream, I know people hate on Phil for nothing, but he's actually not THAT bad at this game. He beat some of the bosses kind of easily as well. His commentary is still cancer, but he finished it at least.
I feel like any playthrough he does will get a "How you don't play" even if he isn't totally shit at it. That's why the ones for fighters, puzzles and platformers like Crash are my favorite.
The moment DSP acquired the homing shot gun, he basically used it for the rest of the game. And double health bonus. Every game he plays he need to play it the safest way possible, probably because he's afraid people will make fun of him if he dies to much.
@@pantheman2842 True, but the homing gun is nice if you are shit at this game, like me! At least I didn't need to aim on top of dodging all the stuff the game throws at you. Of course, if you can get consistant shots during certain phases like Rumor 3rd, Grim 3rd or Pirate 2/3 then you probably don't need this, but I did
@@Ziel23987 I would say "at least you admit it", but Phil did show some spine in this game when it came to admitting his faults. Except for his atrocious performance in the final battle.
Lol, I completed the game with around 75 deaths. I think Phil's insistence on using weak weapons combined with the health powerups that lower your damage made things much harder on himself. The charge shot absolutely destroys most bosses. If the boss fights in this game are lasting over four minutes you are doing something wrong.
@kollie79 It's the thing I love about this game, each weapon and most powerups have a trade off. Chaser can work as a secondary if you need it's super (Mega Man shield), but I personally prefer spreadshot over it (better super for ad clearing). Dave cheese the King Dice fight and it was boring
Phil vs. Grim Matchstick is such classic DSP. Atrocious reaction speed, every excuse under the sun, blaming the game for his own mistakes, sheer befuddlement in the face of video game mechanics that have existed throughout his entire life -- it's just fucking wonderful. It's like watching someone who's never played a game in his life, yet claims to be amazing at them, get exposed by the most trivial shit. Actually, it's even better than that: sometimes it's almost as if the person playing the game one second isn't the person complaining the next, because they exhibit such a detached understanding of what just happened, giving their fellow man the benefit of the doubt, they surely must be a disinterested bystander, or perhaps a lobotomy patient who no longer possesses spatial reasoning. 27:06 "This one's tough" after he jumped right to his death, zero attempt to clear the gap with an air dash 28:36 This one's interesting. Is he saying he can't dodge the fireballs unless he can tell they'll be jumpers the moment they walk on screen or does he not notice the massive stop, squat and grunt tell? I'm not sure which is worse. Could even be both. 29:08 I guess once a cloud goes past him, it becomes invisible to him. Does he have left side ataxia? He doesn't appear to when he gets a donation. 29:16 Tried to jump over the meteor before he processed where it was -- that's the game's fault, by the way. 31:31 Yeah, getting shot point blank sure is ridiculous when you're the one who controls how close you are to him, as he doesn't move... 33:45 It did not fire two at once. 33:57 "Okay, he tracks me before I'm even there." Proceeds to dodge all the others without even trying to...because they don't really track. 34:26 Jumps over the platform; blames the platform for not catching him. 34:52 Lets everyone know he STILL doesn't understand how the marching fireballs work after 15 deaths. Darn it, game, stop deceiving him! 35:51 After spending 20 seconds not shooting the boss at all, he watches dispassionately as his character collides with the boss's body. He dies, but you see, that's really the game's fault because the boss SHOULD have died in those 2 seconds he stood there immobile while shooting at him. Why didn't the boss die? Because the Moldenhauers are hacks, obviously. Learn 'em, Phil! Wait. Who did you boys consult for this game, Phil SPENCER? Maybe next time you'll ask a real professional. You can't just Google how many hit points Grim Matchsticks are supposed to have, you need the big guns; you need Dr. Phil. Not that one. This one. I mean DSP. A lot of people are named Phil, I'm just realizing. 37:00 This is ridiculous, but they are not. 37:15 I fucking love this moment. He's in the middle of the screen. The tail comes up mid-right. HE RUSHES PAST IT TO GET HIMSELF TRAPPED BETWEEN THE BOSS AND THE TAIL! "Where was I supposed to go," he says. How has he not gotten hit by a car? 37:31 "Random hit." No. Predictable hat. What a spectacle to behold.
Honestly, It's kinda wholesome seeing DSP developing a sense of Self Awareness and actually succeeding in a challenging game. I wished he did the same with the other titles he played.
I don't think, that DSP was bad at the game. He is bad at some games, but I don't think, that Cuphead was a bad playthrough of him. I mean, everyone who played the game and is not so much into platformer like I am (last thing I played was Super Meat Boy) knows that this game is hard and for that he wasn't that bad. He didn't even blame the game too much.
About the part of him 'cheesing' the game with homing shot -- he's actually severely gimping himself by using that in the vast majority of fights. He made that last boss WAY harder for himself using that, so actually props for him... Even though he did it inadvertently. Literally any weapon would be better on the last boss over the homing one. It does a lot less damage.
There's also DarthRedavanViking (I think thats how you spell it) and Lord somethingorother (I forgot his name lol) they have wayy too much money and they decide to spend it on DSP lmao
oh my goodness it's the man himself. I ain't gonna say you shouldn't have spent any money at all on DSP (but you probably shouldn#t have) but you must realise that to most people who watch videos like this, or for that matter any stream of DSPs, you guys and your little clique of die hard fans look ever so slightly like a bunch of sugar daddies. either that of indoctrinated sycophants lol
anony mouse Honest question. What was your favorite part of Phil playing Cuphead? Not your favorite part of Cuphead, your favorite thing Phil added to the experience.
Found these recently whilst searching for people failing at RE0, I've been binge watching since, you've eared a well deserved sub my friend. Keep up the great work dude, these are hilarious.
He has to be good at something at least. He's bad at so many games. Then he arrives at a game where he COULD yell Trial and Error but doesn't and he seems to do okay at it. "Okay". Not "great".
He's still bitching about wireless controllers. I couldn't find any tests that didn't result in either no difference or the wireless one actually having less input lag. Bless the 0utsyder for bringing us yet another kwality TIHYDP.
Aside from the fuckery, I just can't get over how good this game is. It's one of those games that will keep being played over and over even when we have perfect life like VR
You know how Phil just sometimes starts going "Huh?... What? ... Wh-- huh? Huh?" I just wanna say to him, "Talk it out, honey. You're a Let's Player. Say what's on your mind."
Phil has been such an inspiration for me. He taught us that no matter how hard we lose, you never rage quit. DSP deserves more views and donations. What?
Not only super quick work on making this, but I'm loving the move to highlight the hilarious cheers and the focus on Phil's 'give me your money' policy on twitch. New Era of tihydp, good work!
Tbh if Phil was like this playing games 100% of the time, he wouldn't be that much of a piece of shit. He didn't die a lot (compared to me, who died a little over 200 times,) and the most bullshit excuse he gave was "I didn't know blah blah blah," which is fair since this game has a lot of trial and error. It's a shame this neanderthal's ego is as big as it is for the other 99% of his content.
God, it was so sweet to se Phil rage against the dragon. For me, it was piss easy because i had the smokebomb (best item in the game) and the homing shot, allowing me to focus on dodging. Too bad Phil wasn't able to realize in later stages homing shot is ineffective because of other enemies on the stage.
Actually, the Lobber is the best weapon for Grim Matchstick because you'll still be able to hit him most of the time and you can actually hit him in his 2nd form
He's actually not bad at the game. He's not blaming the game nearly as much, and i only caught him hand-holding a few times, which is surprising because it's a hard game. Seems like our Philly might be growing up a little bit 😭
I keep hearing about people defending Phil saying he beat this game... So a point I'd like to make, yes he has beaten the game (probably after struggling for a long time) but let's take a blast to the past: Persona 3 Ukbuk The Black(Shadow of Mordor) Ludwig (Bloodborne) bosses and a game other people beat that he couldn't even do. Don't be so quick to make him beating this game some crowning achievement. That's like congratulating someone for beating dark souls.
BloodBorne Assassin Meh, I wouldn't count Ludwig much since he beat the game just not the dlc though it's not hard anyways. But you have to give credit where credit is due, he progressed and beat the game THIS time, it has nothing to do with his past games
"being somewhat decent" YEAH RIGHT ! 186 deaths !!! He beat crash bandicoot trilogy too and he died 200 - 300+ times per each game. Same thing with souls games, hundreds upon hundreds of deaths. He was terrible, he is always fucking terrible.
@Clarence Tuurngait Hey, he didn't throw a tantrum and ragequit it like Dishonored 2: DotO, or delete it like Injustice 2. With how bad Phil is getting lately, the bar has been further lowered, so I consider this trainwreck 'decent'
Man Phil honestly did really well at this game. Beat the robot way faster than I did, and he cleared quite a few bosses in one try on his initial playthrough
He got Phantom Express in one try too. They're not super hard, but there's enough goign on in the fight that it's not unreasonable you'd die a few times figuring it all out.
