It's weird how Phil uses the nitro mechanic without overheating normally, yet the moment he explodes, he seems to forget about the mechanic entirely. Really weird how he does that.

whats sad about this is that 5 minutes into the video phil was right at the end of the last lap in 1st but blew up due to his constant boosting and came in 4th. he would spend the next 50 minutes paying for this mistake.

Phil just can't grasp that the Motorstorm tracks are designed so that fast fragile vehicles (like the rally car) don't have to go near the big heavy ones (like that monster truck) if the player uses their brain. Also it's fascinating how much better he plays on the first attempt than after he loses his temper.

I'll admit that this race was easily the hardest one in all Motorstorm Apocalypse's campaign but man, after a while you should realize that if you use the nitro too much your car explodes. It's how the game works and not a fault of it, you're the only one to blame for not letting go of the nitro before it does.

Because Phil is supposed to be the representative of all the average gamers. The average gamer has a little bit of collective skill from all the games he's played in his life so he can handle normal difficulty for the most part on any game with traditional difficulty curves. He cannot comes to terms with the fact that he is NOT an average joe gamer; he needs to play on beginner level difficulties on every game he plays.

I think his complaint about the trigger being accelerator is rather weak. I find it easier to play racing games with an adjustable toggle instead of a set button, and I find it easier to to drifts that way using the opposite trigger. Then again, I can actually remember hazards in racing games, so...

This was in the time when he was okay. I subscribed to him. Not sure if this was the time where he made money of RU-vid, but I remember this playthought being fun to watch cause it was so funny seeing him playing wrong and not actually taking it seriously (for the most part). But then came the money and the necessity to play all games and just make money.. that's when he dropped the balls. Good thing I left his channel way back.

We're not in the PS2 days anymore where the gas and the brakes were the face buttons. Also, I love Motorstorm and the fact that he says his hands hurt from holding R2 all the time is baffling because that doesn't happen to me. I played Crash Team Racing as a kid and literally ran through two controllers from the x button dying from being held down or pressed too much. But some fat fuck with fully developed adult hands can't hold down a trigger for more then two hours. Hell i do that playing DOOM on the xbla version. Just sad.

It's not huge, but it's definitely still alive and occasionally you'll manage to get into a near-full game (max = 16 players). I only got back into this game a few days ago.

If you saw some of his "origin" videos (where he explains his stories and such), his previous job got him so busy and was originally so wrapped us in SF, he missed a whole generation of games like Kingdom Hearts and MGS3(!) If I missed out on a bunch of games in my job, I'd be out of touch too.
