FOR COFFEE LOVERS, the day doesn't just begin with a good, hot cup of coffee-it seems almost impossible without it. It's not only the dose of caffeine that does the trick, although that does help. It's also the ritual that surrounds it-the smell, the sound, even the wait are all a part of how coffee gets the day started right.

I typically travel about 6 months each year and live out of my truck equipped with a topper. I carry and use several methods of making coffee on the road but recently have determined that the Aeropress is my go to method. I like the simplicity and quality of coffee I get with the Aeropress. I use a small teapot from GSI to heat the water. its very light and pours an accurate stream so also good for a pour over. I often make my coffee in the cab of my truck while I am sitting in the drivers seat. I have a desk I made that covers the passenger seat and that gives me a flat location to work. I heat the water on my one burner and can have fresh coffee very quickly, and the Aeropress is very easy to clean on the road. It's also nice to not have to get out in the winter or when real windy. I also carry a Bialeti moka pot, a pour over filter and a small percolator. I sometimes enjoy the sound and smell of coffee being brewed in the percolator if I am cooking a full breakfast outdoors. I carry a pretty complete cook kit in the truck with a couple of nice cast iron skillets and a Partner Steel 4 burner stove.

That's awesome Hardy, good to hear from seasoned travelers. I also love my Aeropress for traveling, although I am fairly new at brewing on the go. I am familiar with Aeropress enough that I don't need scales anymore and get within 5-10mLs of water weight, just by eyeballing the water level. Would you recommend getting the Aeropress Go? Seem like a more compact package, but I'm not a fan of its smaller brew chamber (I drink 225mL cups and that's already at the top of the standard Aeropress, when brewing the inverted method).

If you do your deadlifts properly, you can carry a Victoria Arduino Black Eagle on your back to make 3 espresso at a time.

Anyone heard of a Brewspoon? Kind of like a teabag that submerses in the water. I'd love to hear some feedback on it. It seems super easy and convenient.

The tiny devices are cool, but not everybody is looking for the smallest thing to stick into a backpack. Lots of people are taking road trips and it would be nice to give advice on the best traveling kit for that. Recommended portable grinders, and good kettles to take on a trip!

(in europe) every vacation house i been to had a moka pot. because its coded into ROM to make a moka (vacation houses rather have a moka than a fancy espresso machine), it is cheap in case someone breaks it (somehow...) or takes it home, and even in some hotels i been to they had a hotplate and a moka pot in rooms so you could make your own

I also primarily use an Aeropress when I travel, but I have yet to find a method of heating water that I've stuck with. Anyone have any very small packable travel kettles they would recommend? For anyone interested, I use a comandante c40 as my grinder of choice, both at home and while travelling. It's not as small or light as the one recommended in this video but I love the look and solid feel it has and it's portable enough for me.

what's the problem with instant, just the taste? I'm a new coffee drinker and I enjoy the taste. I care mainly about the health aspects and the energy providing and athletic enhancing aspects of coffee.

Is there anything similar to a hot cup of water/teabag? It seems so easy but I never hear about it so there must be a big downside I’m unaware of lol planning a Disney trip in a couple months and I need something for just me (I’m the only one that drinks coffee, usually just 1 cup or 2 cups max)

Yes, check out Steeped products! They have their own brand and also work with some roasters across the country.
