My number one tip is...When you get out of bed, do your morning stuff, then get dressed. Even if you're just going to lay down again. Living in pajamas is freaking depressing, IMO.

That’s a good idea but I can’t imagine ever doing that. I get dressed 5 min before leaving the house and as soon as I get home my comfy clothes go back on. I don’t want to dirty or wear out my good clothes. I guess that’s not normal. lol but I have huge dogs that shed and drool and they will ruin all my clothes.

When I moved out, I waited waaay too long to have people over. Don't do that! I kept putting it off because the place wasn't "ready" yet but you will be surprised what a few candles, lovely drinks in cute glasses, and the laughter of your friends will do for your space. And the feeling lingers!

@@JojoboxVlogs Verse to those who think and see human life on earth as daily mating/dating: 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: 33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. 34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. Know it: LOVE = SPIRIT, LUST = CARNAL. What do we want? - being daily lusted after and to keep living ourselves and keeping everyone else also in the sin of fornication? Or do we want and ask for to BE LOVED ON DAILY BASES? We are all commanded to LOVE one another, not lust after one another neither to abuse one another. 1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John 4:20 - If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments. 1 John 4:8 - He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 3:18 - My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. Proverbs 10:12 - Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. Matthew 6:24 - No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Ephesians 4:2 - With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 1 John 4:10 - Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. BIBLE speaks of LOVE, not of lust. In our brokenness have we transformed LOVE into lust and live daily confused, broken, hurt, blind, deaf, proud = all this is our doing, GOD is not to blame, we are. Souls, remember: GHOSTS = DEMONS. you and your loved ones ain´t demons. You and your loved ones are ADAM = mankind, created in the image of GOD. you and your loved ones stay not around to "ghost", we return back to dust and back to GOD. Genesis 5:2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

I am a huge fan of “little surprises” around the house-I’ve been doing this since I was a kid. Tiny objects loaded with calming/happy memories go into spaces I visit most often, like the space over light switches, inside closet doors, inside well-trafficked kitchen cupboards. I always smilie when guests open a cupboard to get a tea mug and momentarily puzzle over a little framed drawing or a silly tiny toy. I tuck small cherished objects in dresser drawers-so good to “discover” when I’m rushing around in the morning. I have struggled with anxiety throughout my life and I swear, these bits of self-therapy have saved my life.

I’m thankful to my Mom for talking about and experiencing rain in a very positive light. So now when it rains I’m happy, and I soak it in. I think it has to do with living in CA, because we don’t get a ton of rain. When it would rain as a kid she praised it. sometimes when it would start raining at 10 or 11:00 at night she would drag me from bed to dance or go for a walk in the rain. And she was excited that “the earth is getting fed” lol such a hippy. But anyone that’s sad when it rains, maybe think about it differently and channel a random strangers energy: my mom. Haha

When I'm going through a depressive episode, I usually can't find the motivation to cook for myself, so I stock up on the healthiest/tastiest frozen meals I can find. After they're done microwaving, I make an effort to plate them nicely, get a cute napkin, and throw on a quick garnish, like some fresh cilantro/basil, or toasted sesame seeds. I would add another thing: have some nice clothes you only wear inside your home. I have some lounge pants, a great sweater, a housecoat I love..houseclothes that match the vibe inside. I agree about having someone come over and help. I'm doing a suprise kitchen refresh for my sibling on vacay, painted, fixed some issues, thrifted some decor..but one thing I noticed were little annoyances that she has become accustomed to, like the screen door that whacks me when I enter. I adjusted the tension so it slow closes now. Repositioning things so they are ergonomic and flow nicely in the kitchen workspace, and so on. I'm planning on painting my apt and redoing stuff based on what I did for my sis. Its a win-win.

Love this! My tip is that for every project that you HAVE to do around your home (e.g. plumbing repairs, or even washing the dishes in the sink), also do something you WANT to do that will affect your comfort in the house (e.g. paint the bathroom, swap out the window blinds, etc.). I bought a house a couple of years ago that needs a lot of work. For the two years I was constantly doing necessary projects, but in a lot of ways it still didn't feel like home. I've been a lot happier working more aesthetic projects into my schedule along with the necessary ones!

Something I have found helpful, especially in seasons when I have been living alone, is setting a goal of making sure the dishes are done every night. It makes a huge difference to wake up to a clean kitchen versus a sink full of dirty plates and cups with food from the day before. It also helps me in that, no matter how unproductive I’ve been all day, I can say I’ve completed one task. If I’m unable to do it the night before, I’ll do the dishes first thing in the morning as part of “opening shop” so I can have some peace of mind the rest of the day😊

Cleaning, organizing and decorating is such a good way to show gratitude and be mindful about the things you own. It can show that you're aware of your surroundings, that everything is meant to be there, even if it's as simple as cleaning the mirror or putting soap into a nicer dispenser. It's a simple way to accomplish something, and if you do it correctly, you make your home feel orderly and purposeful, and you get rid of things that are getting in the way, which is a win-win. If your environment is cared for, then you can be cared for

Thank you to you and your friends for sharing. I’m staying in the family home for now after divorce (I instigated) and started to decorate immediately (during depression) so it’s taking a long time between sleep days. Painting walls by hand has heavily reduced rumination, not as much healing using the roller. Decluttered before separation. Photoshopped art and framing it leading up to separation as I wasn’t allowed to have art on the walls. Am obsessed with it. Yay! Taken out shelving in wardrobe, changed out knobs for handles on all cupboards, changed up colour schemes and painted and bleached furniture. Hung black curtain rods near ceiling to add about 1ft of height, am going to make neutral curtains now I’m replacing old cream blinds. Painting bathroom, changed out trim that would hurt you if you got close to it, organising spaces now the hoarder has gone and set up a workshop and new craft/storage room. House is starting to feel like my home for the first time in 16yrs. Don’t like being in main bedroom at the moment so am moving down stairs to the smaller room that I’ve painted. Rearranged furniture. People didn’t understand that taking on new home projects has been the right thing for me and they kept telling me to sew instead. I needed to get rid of the old colour scheme of everything and not much had been done in my 25yr old home anyway. Making the garden easier to manage. It’s giving me confidence, no one is telling me off or restricting me and it’s all on the tiniest budget. Repurposing a lot of stuff. Am walking around the main yard late afternoon and reminding myself this home is mine and it’s going to be okay. Usually do one job at a time but having many projects on the go instead as if I make a list but don’t want to do it, I’ll end up in bed all day. Not making a list and just randomly doing 5mins-3hrs on any job is making progress with sleeps between jobs. Hang in there everyone, it takes time and therapy and doing what’s right for you. ❤

For about a year prior, your videos would pop up in my recommendations, but it wasn't until after my trauma, when rebuilding a home became the biggest part of my healing journey, that I started watching them. Paige, your videos have been such a helpful resource for me in this process. Thank you for sharing your story and creating these videos! It's only now that I'm 2.5 years into “home making” that I’ve found that having a home base is so important for your mental health, but you’ve taught me that filling that home with beautiful, fun things or moments is key. As a friend told me when I was in the thick of things “home is wherever you’re creating.” So, I wish everyone who reads this continued healing and a safe place for living and creating. 💛

I love this! I'm curious to hear other people's rituals. Here's what's been working for me lately: In the morning, I set a calming tone with a short Buddhist prayer. I recite it for myself, then dedicate it to one other person and finally, a group of people. In the shower, I like to use essential oils to help me wake up. Back in my room, I throw open the blinds and windows, welcoming the sunlight and fresh air. Unloading the dishwasher and making the bed are my final acts, both leaving a sense of order and allowing the room to air out. For a quick errand and some fresh air, I stroll to the nearby co-op, often picking up a pastry, coffee, piece of fruit, or even my lunch. Weather permitting, I savor my lunch or coffee on the porch, a moment of peaceful solitude even if I'm alone. Logging off work at the same time each day has become a ritual, and lately, my Sonos has been a game-changer. Podcasts, music, and new recipes fill my evenings, with me trying something fresh in the kitchen at least twice a week. Now that I'm back in my hometown I like to invite one of my parents or a friend for dinner at least twice a week as well. To beautify my space, I visit my favorite florist every other week for a fresh arrangements. And to end the day, a quick swipe with all my surfaces down with my favorite Mrs. Meyer's scent which greets me in the morning. My love for little moments extends to collecting antique wares I use daily, like an antique teapot and silver bowls for snacks. It's all part of my ongoing effort to infuse everyday life with beauty and meaning. Lately, though, the best purchase has been my Noguchi pendant lamp. Its soft glow bathes the room in magic at night, a final touch of serenity before sleep.

I'm probably moving to Chicago this fall. I've never lived in a big city and one of the things I'm most excited for is *real* thrift shops that have things I can actually see decorating my home with. Occasionally I've found some nice things in the small-town thrift shops I've lived near but overwhelmingly they just seem to have overpriced junk. I loved this video and the ideas within, especially the validation that it's ok for me to burn my candles all day long (for some reason I always feel guilty doing this).

Really enjoyed this video, I too am obsessed with the warm glow of candles for lighting! I would only add 2 things. 1) gardening, even if you only have a balcony or a tiny patio like me- garden in pots. This has been the best thing for my mental health HANDS DOWN. If you have no outdoor space, garden indoors with houseplants. Studies have shown the colour green improves mood. 2) think about creating art for your space rather than buying things. The act of making is healing in itself, I've made lots of quirky ceramics that are unique and bring me joy everyday, as well as art works to put in a (secondhand) frame

I took a film camera home for the holidays and took photos of everyone who I loved. I captured hugs between family members, my siblings giving me funny faces, etc. I keep those photos in a gallery on rotate on my phone to help me feel closer to them when I am living abroad. But recently I also found some colourful frames and printed off those photos and hung them in my highest traffic areas around my home. I might even add some quotes or funny things they have said to go along with. It makes me feel surrounded by love, and helps me feel grateful for them every day, especially when I feel extremely lonely living in a new city. Thank you for this video! A lot of great ideas I also use, and some new ones as well.

Spending like 5-10 mins doing some basic reset tasks before you go to sleep, like folding up any blankets on the couch, either getting the dishes done or at least containing them to a pile, taking obvious things back to where they go so when you wake up things are a little tidier can really help. The best part of this channel is not just the interior decor. It is you, Paige, because you are a truly genuine person, or what I call, “the real deal“ I think when I’ve gone Thrifting, I enjoy finding a cool lamp from a different era with a very good price. Sometimes if I go to estate sale shopping, I love finding 60s patterns for sheets with pillowcases. I also like to buy linen cloth napkins. I think the best deals at a estate sales are linens because they’re very inexpensive but high in quality. Love your channel and think you are very worth my time every week. I think you gave me an important piece of advice today and it’s to put music on while opening my curtains. This is really a good idea for me 🎉

This isn't necessarily an aesthetic thing but bonus points if you can make it aesthetic too! I love creating less barriers to doing the things I enjoy (aka things not involving screens) so I'll leave all my notepads where I doodle and draw on the second layer of my coffee table for easy access so if I have any sort of spare time it's almost as easy as choosing that as my phone. It also creates a nice talking point when people see it too

I love love love this. My tip is hang little disco balls and prisms in the windows for rainbows. Thrifting can be tough- I became addicted to thrifting for the dopamine boost and a replacement for relationships. Then my place got hoarder-y and cluttered and my shame over that made me more depressed. Now I do a little thrift but I have to keep it under control! Cleaning my home- on a 20 minute timer - makes me feel better, and having youtube videos on like yours in the background is like having a friend there while I do it. Thank you.

I really enjoyed this peek into Paige video! Thank you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable! And, my home decorating tip is the stuff on your walls and bookcases should be shit you want to look at. Never buy art because it matches the couch. Never put books on your shelves because the spine colour matches your carpet, and don't put "decor" items next to them. Put stuff on shelves that, when you look at them you think, "oh yeah! This was from that time/that dumb gift/that thoughtful gesture/that fun trip". Stuff you want to look at, not what design magazines or Pinterest say your home should look like. It should feel like your favourite cardigan. It should feel like the you that you love being even when you're sad. It all helps. Again, thanks, Paige.

Once i heard in a guided meditation to think of your body as a safe place to be like it was your home, a safe happy home. Bang. It clicked! I foĺlow you because I am an interior nerd as well, and yes, our homes reflect the kind of person we want to be. The making of the bed is key. I think of my home like it was my psyche so I try (never ending work innprogress) to make it warm, safe, easy to function in, cheerful, organized, peaceful.. My tips would be: try not to get overwelmed by disorganasation even if you don't feel the energy, WATCH THE BAD SMELLS (please please throw away the trash). Today it's monday morning and I am at home instead of office because of flue, and well I try to stay clean and cozy. Love you Paige, I would like to show you my apartment! Love love love to..

So... without getting too longwinded... I went through a hormonal (chemical) and situational depression a year ago... and this channel was a major reference point for me because I too took on interior design as a hobby to help alleviate how sad and tired I was. An additional tip that I did (on top of many similar things that are listed here)... on the days where I was just seriously too low energy to do anything but work and then lie down in my free time... Instead of ruminating, I would spend that time lying in bed to pull out my computer, get on Pinterest, and make boards where I could continue to curate my style and goals with my home improvement projects. It tied into the hobby and for the really, really hard days where you don't even have the energy to go to the thrift store or organize anything practical, I found a way to get my mind off of things in a way that was still very productive to my hobby... just in case anyone needed any additional tips on what to do on the extra tired days. And by the way, I am doing very well a year later. Between medical/ therapeutic help as well as let some of those situations pass... I am doing so well now, so it does pass.

I am a student and my depression hit during my first semester. I had just moved out into my 1 bedroom Student flat With little to no money available for thrifting and interior so I started painting to make my home feel more comfortable and homey. It also really calmed me. Gave me an out. It did not cure me (therapy and my own hard work to get better did) but it definitely helped when I was feeling anxious, stressed and hopeless.

I always feel so much better after clearing a space of clutter, no matter how small, and/or getting rid of stuff that's no longer serving me. It feels like a weight is being lifted off of me when I do this. (Visual clutter makes me feel anxious and it's often a reflection of how tired and/or overwhelmed I feel at the moment.) It also helps me to see the things I already have with new eyes and I might rearrange them in a way that gives them new life.

Great video, Paige! I learned early on how to clean and decorate my way through life's hardships. I remember my Great Grandpa's funeral, relatives from all 4 corners gathered on Grandma and Grandpa's farm ( including my interior designer aunt from SoCal) and in quick order a week of refreshing and decorating began - Grandma had a ton of great old things, there was much laughter, joking, reflections, tears, discoveries, nostalgia and also installing a few new "modern" touches...that was 1974 and I was 15. My sister's and I carry on the tradition. Our homes really do affect how we function, feel, its important to pay attention to the little things. For me, I like a fresh stack of white towels in the bathroom, luxury soaps, candles!, clean bedding, good coffee...doesn't take much to make me feel better! Thanks Paige!

Thrifting/antiquing by myself is definitely a thing, actually going antiquing on my own today and looking forward to it. As far as how my home contributes to my emotions - cleaning an overlooked area works wonders for me, and wearing actual shoes (for some reason) helps me mentally. If I wear slippers all day my brain thinks I am sick and then I feel down. So I wear some sort of shoes.

I'm willing to bet your vulnerability in this video endeared you even more to your subscribers, myself included. Your point about the amount of time we spend in our homes was spot on. Lit candles are a perfect example of a little treat to give oneself. I would also suggest something that saved me at one point: try a creative art or craft. Doing something with your hands allows your brain to focus, and before you know it's happening, the sadness recedes. Thank you.

After my dad died (who was my best friend and who I had been caring for for 3 years) I was a good mess. Told myself I wouldn't do anything drastic for a year and yet 8 months later I bought a house and moved to a town I had never been to before. When the movers came, I told them the living room furniture (rugs, decor and all) needed to be put in place and everything else could be stacked up where ever. I still have that calm, semi-selfie picture of me upon my couch, my feet in front of the fire place and all is calm in the world. To my left and right (just out of the photo) was the utter mayhem, chaos and clutter of boxes, bins n' bags. But I had my living room, organized and welcoming to me... on my 1st night... and it has made all the difference. Great video. Thank you.
