Sachiko (Satoru's mom) in ERASED is clearly the best. She protects Kayo from worst mom and also takes care of Satoru and flexes his limbs while he was in a coma. Followed by Hana (Wolf Children) and Honda Kyoko (Fruits Basket).

ngl, Saitou Miyako is underrated as Mother. Taking care of 2 traumatised kids she adopted while stepping up as the CEO of Strawberry Production. She deserved some recognition.

Miyako in Oshi no Ko is the best mom in that series. I agree. She went from hating the kids to taking them in and loving them.

At the last bit, when the discussion was on kids being kids, I thought of Anya from SpyxFamily. She actually behaves like a kid. She only remembers stuff from her favorite cartoon, can't tell time, forgets or loses interest in things in a flash, and is pretty much just a kid. The mind reading just adds to it.

Actual best anime moms would have to include Hana from Wolf Children and Queen Hilling from The Ranking Of Kings.

I think it's safe to say this was interpreted by the voters as a "Hottest" mums list

Yassan from Toradora. Just thinking about the life she had faced over the 17-18 years of raising an absolute gentleman like Ryuuji, and all on her own warms my heart. One of my favorite moment in the series is seeing her return to her parents. In a moment under her parents’ gaze you can see her melt back into the runaway girl who left almost two decades ago. Then when her mother tells her what a wonderful boy Ryuuji is, she breaks down in a well deserved moment of emotional release of pride and acceptance. It’s the most moving scene in the series not structured around the High school romance, and probably beats all of them too.

When I think of a good mom my immediate thought is Hana from Wolf's Children. She's a great mother, some of those on the list are great mommies.

Honami is actually a high schooler in the game but she gives off huge mom vibes and she takes care of another character (Kanade, who is older than Honami by 1 year). She’s very kind and gentle while taking care of Kanade and Kanade’s friends often say that Honami is like Kanade’s mom now (Kanade’s biological mother died), so Honami is often portrayed as a mother figure in project sekai and some people even call her ‘Honamama’ Honami is also my favourite character why is she always so adorable

I would like to contest the opinion on Ai since she had some similarities to my own mom, which I think made her hit harder for me lol. My own mom was a single teen parent, and so I was often in the care of other relatives while she went through school and worked. I never felt neglected despite this though since anytime she was home, she'd make time for me. I barely noticed her absence bc I knew she cared about me, she was just busy. Ai, in my opinion, seemed to be the same case. Except she had some other set backs. She had no other relatives to rely on and live with, and leaving the industry suddenly would raise suspicion and possibly put the twins at risk. Not to mention she'd be out of a job for a while with two other mouths to feed, plus her own. Honestly, all things considered, I think Ai is a phenomenal mom. You can argue whether she's one of the best, but I don't think she's anywhere near a "bad" mom. Edit: why tf is Honami from project sekai on the list 💀 is there like an in-joke of her being a mom or was that just an error lol. She is indeed in highschool and not a mom lmfao Edit 2: (Oshi no ko spoilers for the 2 people who haven't watched ep 1 yet) Also to heavily clarify my mom is still alive 💀 realized that's probably a good distinction to make lmao. I'm just very grateful for her! And I think my relationship with my mom gave me a clearer(?) perspective on Ai as a parent.

If ever on Oshi no ko Miyako would be the best mom, she never left the twin after all these years.. I know at first she was threatened by the twins but after (*spoiler*) she can leave anytime but she actually stayed and loved the twins like a real mom. I definitely agree with Yor, I absolutely fell in love with her and she’s definitely one of the best anime moms (even though she’s not Anya’s birth mother I still like how much Yor cares about her) and plus she’s cute as hell and just great in general. Gotta love assassin mom, also a mom that I’m surprised wasn’t on here was Dahlia Ketchum from Pokémon because yes she does let Ash leave on a journey that takes the dude like 20+ years but goddamn is she still cute

Maquia from the movie Maquia is one of the strongest mother characters I've seen in anime. She raises an abandoned baby of a race (humans) that pillaged her entire village and left only a handful of her kin alive, the baby the grows up to be one of the most obnoxious kids in anime history, but she still cares for him, revolutionizes his perspective on unconditional love that makes him grow into a complete person, and then visits him at his death bed when he is old living with his descended family. Another example of how underrated that movie is.

Disagree on AI not being a good mom. She's a single parent with the father not providing any support of course she has to compromise. Hell episode 1 even showed her thoughts on money and why she wanted more. Not because she wants to spend for herself, but to give her kids an opportunity for a good future. She may not be the best mom but she's there for her kids when it counted.

Sakura is kind of underrated as a mother, shes basically a single mother (yes Sasuke, fuck you) and even considering her personality, Sarada was raised pretty good, shes smart and polite and can even take care of herself alone which is a plus

I mean... Ai *did* do a fair bit in episode 1, like helping Ruby get over her fears of falling and clearly Aqua saw her as way more than just an idol but as the "light" of his world, in a way. That little moment before her end where she's clutching him and keeping Ruby away in the other room, lamenting that she can't be with them both as much as she wants... it hit hard, fam... it hit hard.

Yea as much i love ai and understand why she went to work, miyako objectively did perform the better role of a mom not only raising the children but also the business at the same time to take care of them financially. Shes underrated

Surprised Mamako Oosuki (from the MILFsekai) wasn't on the list. 2:43 Boruto's sister is named Himawari. And Hinata is one of the few people that actively disciplines Boruto (in the first episodes Boruto states that Hinata is *scary* when she is angry). Also, it's made explicitly clear in the anime that she is the one who wears the pants in the Uzumaki Household.

Yor Forger is probably the best mom. She's very caring and scares away anyone that might harm Anya. Also, Garnt, why is Ai Hoshino crossed out? She actually cared for her children and wanted nothing more than to spend some quality time with them.

Ai Hoshino might not be the best mom in anime but her presence definitely had an enormous impact on Oshi no Ko. Kinda like how Thors shaped the story of Vinland Saga

As someone who watched Katanagatari when it was airing, with its 20 yo 1 hour long episode duration but releasing in around every month (from 2011 to 2012). If they released that way it would have still been better than just a long hiatus in between.

But the more I think about it, I think that may be to some extent because mothers sorta get the short stick in representation in a lot of anime. A lot of the time, they're just background characters or plot devices (or already dead). I mean, I know tons of animes about really good single fathers, but can't think of a single one off hand about a really great single mom. Which seems kinda screwed up, now that I say it. There are a few I can think of which I think do deserve to be on a list like this, and maybe you might want to consider if you're putting together your own: * Sachiko from Erased (I mean, it's really hard to beat "best mom" title against someone who spent _literally years_ taking care of her comatose son all on her own in her tiny apartment while also juggling a job and her own life, even regularly talking to him and playing him his favorite music, etc, and likely would have continued to do so for the rest of her life if she'd needed to) * Shoyo's mom from A Silent Voice (or really, Shoko's mom too, for that matter) * Midoriya's mom from My Hero Academia * Hana from Wolf Children (I just realized that three of the above are actually single-mom stories, so I guess there are at least a couple) Edit: I just thought of a couple of others which I think also deserve to be on a list like this, even though they aren't technically _biologically_ mothers, because really being a mom isn't just about who you gave birth to: * Izumi from Fullmetal Alchemist * Akari from March Comes in Like a Lion * Touko from Natsume's Book of Friends
