Why we sleep by Matthew Walker…I NEVER take my sleep for granted EVER…laugh at me if you want but lights out by 9…cold room, no blue light, stop eating by 4pm…sleep at least 8 hours..fall into deep sleep within 20 minutes…and I LOVE the early morning hours and watching the sun rise!
You forget that most people only get home by 6pm and still have to cook dinner for the family. Some people also are more alert in the late hours of the evening than in the morning. What works for you, won't necessarily work for others. Especially if they work shifts.
@@acer4237have you started HRT? I have(45) the progesterone is AMAZING! I use it cyclically. I didn’t realize just how horrible my sleep was-it was bad and I had a hard time falling asleep, but I thought I was “ok” NNNOOOOOO. My sleep was jacked up! This is my second month with the patch and cycling the progesterone 🎉it’s life changing ❤
I’ll be 39 in Aug, I was 258lbs in Jan 2024, I’ve lost 70lbs since Jan following Dr. Mindy and applying her advice of fasting, sleeping, and completely changing my food lifestyle. It was really hard but now I am so in love w my worth and accomplishment. All thanks to Dr. Mindy sharing what she knows about health. Thank you😊
The more I fast, the more I stay in ketosis, the better I sleep. I have been falling asleep so quickly and waking up wondering what planet I'm on. I am regularly getting about 8 hours of sleep! This is after years of struggling to get sleep because of stressed adrenals and hormonal / menopausal changes. I feel human again!
This is so great to hear! You are inspiring me. I have lived with stressed adrenals for over 10 years and tried so many ways to heal them without avail. I will check this out! I’m encouraging my husband to fast too for his diabetes. He’s been doing keto, and getting good results with his labs, but I believe this would get him to the next level to completely reverse it.
The fact that nobody talks about censored book called The 23 Former Doctor Truths by Lauren Clarkreally gets to me. Always loved doctors like Rachel and Mindy, they open our eyes
This is a well-rounded video and well thought out. Thank you! One thing I can add to hopefully help the comment section regarding sleep is: (and I can't remember where I heard it, but it works) when you wake up in the middle of the night or wake up to go to the bathroom, "Don't ask yourself a question". I heard that asking yourself a question engages a certain part of the brain that causes wakefulness. So I try to steer clear of questioning if I'm awakened. It's hard at first to catch yourself but when you become aware of this idea, you will start to notice. I hope this helps. Be Blessed Everyone!
Great teaching!. I often talk to menopausal women in my work and talk about sleep as your 'super power'. I agreed with my husband to try sleeping in separate rooms - game changer!! I am often fast asleep by 9pm and solidly asleep until 5:50 - 6 am. Effect on my brain energy/focus is transformational.
I have found i'm sleeping better after changing my fast. I used to eat 8am to 1pm. I found going to bed feeling a bit hungry, and only having green tea for hours before hand affected my sleep. It would take ages for me to fall asleep even though I felt really tired, and when I did I would wake up several times during the night to pee. Now I eat 4pm to 9pm and sleep much better. I'm not hungry and pee less because my body has solid food to process and not just liquid.
“Having green tea for hours” is likely a big problem for sleep. A cup has about half the caffeine of coffee apparently. That’s way too much if you want to sleep.
One thing I know for sure is that when I'm sick or don't feel well, the more I sleep, the faster I feel better. But now I'm really going to focus on making this a nightly habit!
I love sleeping. I used to be able to sleep 7-7.5 hrs straight. Since post menopause, I can't barely sleep 7 hrs anymore, the best probably 6hrs, average 5hrs. And I can feel that I'm gaining weight. (I was very active. avid cyclist and brisk walk every morning). I tried everything to make me stay sleep. I kept waking up at 3 am or 2 am. I tried to sleep early at 9.30, still wake up at 2/3am. And I can't get back to sleep. I was just tossing and turning until 5.30, and when I get up I was really sleepy. I'm on day 5 this new intermittent fasting (after I found Dr Mindy video). As far my sleep, nothing changes yet. I've been trying to sleep at the same time (early 9.30-10), and wake up the same time. And I follow the suggestion Dr Mindy to see the sun rise and sunset light to help with my circadian. I found it works, because when I tried to see the red line of sunset, I started to get sleepy around 9pm. So I'm going to keep trying that. Working from home makes you coupe at home all the time. I'll report back how it goes.
@@lnunn2273 Still working progress. Now, I started adding a red light in my room, and stop working at 8PM (if I have dateline). I changed my work desk lighting to more amber color so I don't use the blue bright color if I need to work late. Also I spent time now reading book in amber light. Also start sleeping early. Like before 10pm. It's been cloudy in my area, so I can't see the sunset LOL. Few days, I can't fall asleep as I easy. Went to be at 10.30, still wide awake at 12.
SLEEP!!! This is so true! I finally started to lose weight once I healed from sexual trauma that was causing my night terrors. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) helped tremendously and now I sleep soundly. This reversed multiple health issues I was struggling with for years. I 💜 to sleep and have made it a rewarding part of my lifestyle. Great video!:-)
So glad that you have healed from such terrible trauma. I'm still striving towards healing. It's now 3:30 am and my sleep is so dysregulated. You give me hope.
YES sleep has changed my life. I took over tbe care of my special needs brother 15 years ago from my parenys. Then we went thru the loss of both of them 5 years apart. I've been under stress basically since 1973. But I could always sleep at night 7 or 8 hours. Several years ago after having a huge spinal surgery I could no longer sleep all night. I do not take any type of medications and I finally heard about Circadian Rythem. I started practicing that and fasting for 16 to 20 hours from watching your videos. I've lost nearly 10 lbs and I can sleep for 7 hours straight again. Hallelujah!! Routine. You have to commit to daily routines. Don't deviate and you will see results. Wake up with the sun and stare at it for 10 minutes. It's made all the difference for me. 😊❤😊
You mean staring at the sun had given you sleep. What are your fasting timings like. struggling with sleep after menopause. Please help. I'm exhausted through the day because of lack of sleep
Regarding alcohol, that's why if I have a glass of wine, I drink it with my big lunch meal. I have a Sleep Number bed and even when I have a glass of wine early, my heartrate measures always in the low 50's. I think that's good? Also, I heard somewhere, and it could have been YOU, ( I watch tooo many spiritual videos!), that saying a positive affirmation before you go to sleep and upon waking, before you get out of bed, say it again, helps to reinforce that affirmation. I also fall sleep thanking Prime Creator for my life and my day.
I used to have a glass of red wine before sleep. It worked really well for many years. Unfortunately, eventually, I developed a fatty liver (not because of drinking wine,) mostly due to all the junk food I used to eat. So, I stopped wine for good to ease the pressure on my liver.
I had heard that there are healing chemicals in our bodies that release from 10pm - 2am, and so I started going to bed at 10 while in nursing school and still do to this day. And yes, around 4:30 every morning, I have to get up and go to the bathroom.
Yes! One of those hormones is Human Growth Hormone and it starts to release at its peak between 10pm-2am❤! I always strive to get to bed at the same time (around 9:30pm.) As a nurse myself, this can be a challenge but I definitely make it happen at least 90% of the time😊 Good luck 🍀 to you on your journey to becoming an amazing nurse ❤🕊❤️

Your work has changed my life! Thank you! I am down 54 pounds as of right now and am still letting go of more weight. I feel amazing am so grateful for the information you put out and can’t wait for your cook book!
THIS. I love cannabis. It changed my life, spiritually, mentally, everything. I became kinder, more intuitive, meditative, so many wonderful things. However, cannabis is not entirely perfect, there is always a cost and for some people it’s amazing and some people react poorly or become mentally dependent. I’ve been dependent for some periods of life and I’ve also had a healthy relationship with it at times. A wonderful plant and we need more research.
@7ShadowMaiden7 I have done some experimenting with how it affects my hormones when I started having weird cycles that I thought were perimenopause. Turns out the issues I'm having are directly linked to edibles (vaping/smoking it doesn't seem to be a contributing factor). I went 6 months without a period while using edibles a few times a week. 2 months in I was having severe hot flashes every 20 mins or so 24/7. At around 5.5 months I decided to stop to see if edibles were the culprit. 3 weeks off of them my period returned and I was back to a 28 day cycle for a few months. So I decided to test it again to be sure (for science hahaha) and sure enough, my period got pushed back by almost a month (was just surprised by it this morning but it is abnormally light) and I'm willing to bet if I keep going with the edibles I won't have a period at all next month and likely hot flashes will start again. And my recommendation for the hot flashes and heightened anxiety is magnesium bisglycinate. Worked wonders!
I am not sure about menstrual cycles and weight management, but I had a friend tell me that when she recently went in for a breast exam, some metastasis markers that were there in a previous exam were no longer there after she alternated days taking CBD and homemade cannabutter. The tech and doctor were both in shock and thought something was wrong with the machine when they couldn't' detect said marker as it had completely disappeared. Her husband, who also partakes in the CBD/cannabutter routine, found that the metastasis he had in his lungs had shrunk and his doctor was amazed. Organically grown cannabis, at least in my small sample size, does help in fighting cancer when ingested. I'm about to try out it on my cousin who currently has stage 4 cancer and is in chemo to see if it can help save his life. If it worked for two people I know, I hope it can work for others I do and don't know to help save people from that dastardly disease.
Heat Shock Proteins are sorely underrated & have plethora of health benefits. Especially cardiovascular repair. During summer, I don winter clothing & walk myself into sweat for 60 minutes. Returning home, I sit down in my clothing to relax for another 30 minutes as a cool down. This procedure is done 4x per week for 1 hour. I feel utterly fantastic.
_And sauna? I love dr. Berry's suggestion of a redneck-sauna...on sunny days, park your car in the sun with windows closed...after enough time it becomes a SAUNA inside...if you can stand the puzzled stares of your neighbours watching you sweat it out sitting in your car...LOL!_
I’m a 61 year old woman- I’ve used many of your principles the past year and have seen tremendous results. Almost 80lbs of weight loss, my labs, BP all improved- BUT this is a challenging one for me. I’m a night shift worker- I work as a nurse 3-4 nights a week. 12 hour shifts. High stress job. I have successfully lost weight- but do want benefits of cellular repair and worry that sleeping day time hours does not give the same level of detoxification and repair. I know my sleep suffers even though I have completely blacked out bedroom. I switch back and forth. Sleeping nights on my nights off. Any suggestions for night shifters?
Just a thought... can you switch to days? I know many that work in the medical field and it seems there is a shortage in this field. l kindly suggest you ask for days or seek another employer. I'm sure your field has a demand and you can leverage your experience to get what you want. Good luck😊
I am the same. I have had trouble sleeping my entire life and have tried every sleep aid, bought blue light blocking glasses to wear in the evening, set my phone to no blue light after 7pm, etc. I still wake every 1-2 hours and after waking around 3 or 4am, it's a 50/50 toss up as to whether or not I will be able to get back to sleep or not. So frustrating and really debilitating. Doctors in the past have just given me sleeping pills that make me a zombie for 12 hours. I wish I could find an answer. Best wishes to you!
I really think it's high cortisol or anxiety. I sleep the same way. Every 2 hrs. Very frustrating! Have you tried guided sleep hypnosis. It works sometimes for me@@pennypetersen6922
@@rachelroslund I had insomnia my whole life and thought it was just something I had to live with. Things have been turning around for about a year now, where I can stop worrying about whether I'll sleep. The biggest factor has been stimulating melatonin production through early sun exposure and late sun exposure, and (this is big) I use a red light in the living room before bed and a red light in my bedroom while I read a bit before going to sleep. Just a cheap red light works. I never have an overhead or bright light near me after 6-7 pm
Oh my goodness, this is so helpful! I went through my Oura ring data and sure enough, the nights that I get at least eight hours sleep, my HRV is much healthier! I finally have the connection! I thought it was my physical activity, but clearly it’s my sleep. Wow! 🔥🤯🤯🤯🔥
I started sleepng 8- hours yesterday. Taking a cold shower made a big difference for me. My new lifestyle change is to add sleeping 8-hours even nine. I learned to let everything go and just sleep. It is a majoe change for me. I look forward to buying your book soon.
You don't always have control of how long you sleep. Even with super perfect sleep hygiene. You can't just say...oh, I'll go to bed early and sleep all night.
Also research sleep hygiene, prepping yourself for sleep. One way is to watch the sunrise, which is when your body makes melatonin for that nights sleep. Also, watch the sun set, that regulates the cortisol for the next day and sun exposure during the day aids sleeping. Turning off artificial light at night, including the phone and not picking it up first thing in the morning, before sunrise light exposure. The circadian rhythm is real. Very true about our bodies sometimes not wanting to sleep, but it's usually things we are doing to ourselves. I have heard about kava, a not great tasting drink that helps people with anxiety, depression and sleeping better. I'm trying that next and will also get some blue blocking glasses that help block the artificial light. Castor oil packs also. Hope this helps
So true!! I have made all the changes recommended. Have no problem falling asleep....just cannot stay asleep.past 4-5 hrs. My for tells me I have to s of REM but very little deep sleep 😴
@@lynnecobb9399 Have you tried EFT (Tapping) when you get into bed? That might really help a lot. I like to use the Tapping Solution app as there's lots of different guided Tapping meditations... there's a number of ones specific for sleep. 😊
I am often super sleepy around 9.30 - 10.00 and keep telling myself that I can't go to bed yet, I will wake up at 5. The other day, almost falling asleep in front of the TV, I ended up in bed at 9.45 and stayed there until 08 the next morning. There was a periode of abut 90 minutes during the night were I could not sleep, but some stress reducing tricks eventually "knocked me out" again. I use sleep mediation videos that I find on here on youtube to be very helpful because they seem to distract my overworking brain enough to fall asleep that much quicker. If only one simply could go to bed and fall sleep on cue for the needed amount of time.... Perhaps it is? Perhaps our modern lifestyle has made us forget that this is how it should be? You have so many great videos dr. Mindy and this one is perhaps one of the more important ones
Hey Dr Mindy, I’m so grateful for you 🩷 I have struggled with getting a good nights sleep since I was 17. I’m now 69. I want to share with you and your gorgeous tribe, that ever since I started taking Lions Mane( and sometimes with magnesium), I have been sleeping like a baby!!
I wish I could sleep 7-9 hours. I am lucky I sleep 4 1/2 hours. I wake up completely awake and there is no way I can go back to sleep. I sleep with my bedroom window open all the way even in the winter. I love a cold room. I do seem to sleep deeply and fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow, I wish I could just sleep longer.
🌟 Just a thought, and perhaps this may help... I don't think we do sleep constantly over several hours. It's more like repeating 90-minute cycles, through deep sleep and REM. Is it possible therefore that there is a positive feedback loop? so that each time you come into light sleep, there is anxiety that you are awake, that further wakes you and makes you more anxious. In other words, perhaps when you come into light sleep, just chill, and say, ok there's a cycle, and soon I'll go back into another cycle. Hope that may help. 💙
I am going to do this! I have been sleep deprived my entire 64 years due to living in an alcoholic environment my entire life. The result of this is pretty terrible. As I approach my 65th birthday I had a crisis moment where no matter what the cost I need to get more sleep and heal: heart, mind, body and soul. To that end I have begun a 20 hour daily fast. I have always been active and exercise which has not done anything for my weight other than I do feel much better when I exercise. I enjoy it. I do 10 minutes a few times a week on the cellerciser rebounder. I do a few days a week of a walk at home program and the Oxycise program. I enjoy the variety. I just might be the least sedentary person I know. I will make a much more concerted effort to get more sleep on a daily basis. Thank you so much for this particular video. I am grateful for it.
Would so, so, so love to sleep. I've tried all the ways, all the protocols. It almost makes me angry when health experts chidingly say, "be sure to get enough sleep." Then they don't tell you how.
I'm 57, 5 yrs into menopause...started menopause hormone therapy, entry level dose...within 3 weeks, September like baby. Before that...up 3-5x every night.
I’ve had insomnia since I was a baby. My parents had my crib in their bedroom until they added another bedroom to our house, and my father hated it. He would often wail at my mom, Doesn’t that kid ever sleep!? It was a nightmare - a waking nightmare - to be a child and the only person awake in a dark house. I’m 65 and still struggle with sleep. It’s hard when people say just go to sleep, like it’s as easy as that. And it’s never been easy for me. I’ve had a little more success by putting magnesium cream on and taking 25 mg trazodone. I also have to have socks on my feet, no matter the season. I have a chronic illness that hit me when I was 25, and I feel like I’ve been a geriatric for the last 40 years.
THIS! I was also the baby that never "slept though the night" and I have struggled with insomnia my entire life. Honestly, I had begun to believe I was the only one. I have been on many medications and seen multiple specialists, all of whom eventually threw up their hands and, basically, said, "Sucks to be you..." Yes. It is a waking nightmare. For me, intermittent fasting really helps with my insomnia. I NEVER eat after 4:00 p.m., and it helps -- a little. It's still a struggle, though.
I an a retired lady and have found I can't function properly if I miss a good night's sleep! It's more difficult to think, move or to fast properly. I just kind of stumble through the day. That being said, I have 3 cats that have to be in the house at night due to the coyotes lurking about. Sometimes they are sweeties and sleep until dawn. But other times they seem demon possessed and determined to disrupt my sleep! If they've awakened me at 2 or 3 a.m. I get up and deal with them. Then let them out at dawn and go back to sleep for another REM. It's weird but it works. I just try to schedule any appointments later in the day. 😊
The Menopause Reset has a chapter that helped me deal with my perimenopause insomnia. Between doing those recommendations and intermittent fasting, I lost the weight I had gained from having to take tamoxifen. Thank you, Dr. Mindy! ❤
Great video. After reading a lot of the comments - no sleep cannot be commanded, but it can be nurtured. Try to find ways to enhance your sleep. Me, I’m going to invest in cooling sheets. Thanks for 5he great video.
I'm 81 yrs old and have severe insomnia. I can go to sleep when I go to bed but only sleep 2 to 3 hours and then wake up and toss and turn sleeping 15 to 30 minutes the rest of the night. I have sleep medication that is prescribed but hesitate to use it because it messes with my kidneys. I used to work from five in the evening.Till three in the morning and I would go to bed about five thirty. I think perhaps my internal clock is lockdown to going to sleep at five thirty in the morning and sleeping till twelve one o'clock in the afternoon. I have tried everything to get my internal clock to switch.I can't find the right tool. Is there anything that I can do that?Might help me sleep at least five or six hours. During the day, my brain will not shut off for me to even take a nap. Thank you, doctor mindy, for any help or any help that can come from those out there that are living a fasted life. I try not to watch TV. Use my phone et cetera before I go to bed. I've run out of options. Please help if you can. Thank you Janice (rabbimama@gmail.com)
I have the same problem. I wake up after about three or four hours, go to the bathroom and get back to sleep after a couple of hours. I used to work shifts. That was years ago but I think your body gets mixed up..
I did fasting about 3 years ago and introduced fasting to my friends. We all had success with weight loss and any time we struggled I suggested go to bed early without eating. It always helped.
Sleep being the state of repair makes sense, because we do seem to lose our appetite when we're really unwell, so that's our body automatically going into repair itself.. Which means then, the lack of sleep creates stress, which would cause the release of cortisol and ultimately cause us to be insulin resistant. Lack of consistent movement, (not necessarily intense excercise) must be the obvious contributing factor in all of this. What also makes sense is when we develop a fever, our body goes into fighting the bugs using heat as the weapon...and of course sweating to cool us down again. We really are so amazing ! 🙌

I used to think that sleeping in made me fatter - I’d wake up at 4:15 for years going going going going - my adrenals got worse menopause kicked in and my body was completely off Weight gain, exhaustion, anxiety I now make sleep my priority I never eat past 5pm Eat Keto No sweets Take 10x Sleep (natural supplement) Sleeping 7 to 9 hours Brain fog is lifted, more relaxed and definitely feeling better ! We need to remember that we have caused damage for a while so we need to allow our body time to heal and reverse that damage Thank you ❤for your passion in helping us all do just that
It’s FREE! WOW love this statement. So true and so rewarding. Started to take control of my glucose intake and awareness THANK YOU GLUCOSE GODDESS, decreased alcohol to almost nil, observed when I stopped eating and when I broke my fast ; 12 hours seems comfortable for me so far, and increased my sleep. Actually slept!!! Wow do I feel better AND that annoying post menopausal belly pooch is slowly melting away. I do exercise, but not like a mad woman and eat plant based 95% of the time. What you have to say Mindy is priceless! Oh right it’s free! 😂😂Love you!
Sleeping is not under my control right now. I breastfeed my 15 month old and it’s a 50/50 chance whether she sleeps through the night or wakes me up. Just the same as fasting - haven’t been able to try fasting because I’ve been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for almost 4 years straight.
I know the importance of sleep, but even though I fall asleep quickly, my body still wakes me up after like 6 hours (like from 12 midnight to 6 am). I don't feel fully refreshed, but can't get back to sleep. If I go to bed a little earlier, I wake up earlier. I wish I knew how to get a solid 8 hours sleep!
I’ve just posted a reply to someone who, like me, can only sleep for a maximum of 2 hours at a time. After reading your post I remembered I actually slept for 6 continuous hours a few weeks ago and I felt amazing the next morning!! It’s strange how human bodies can differ so much in sleeping patterns….
I believe Dr.Michael Mosley worked out that people like him and yourself benefit from light treatment in the evening, and others who can’t get to sleep for hours need it in the morning. It might be worth looking up his program on sleep. Good luck.
I share a similar situation. Sometimes my body thinks it's only taking a nap. So even if I fall asleep at 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. I may be up at 1:00 and my alarm goes off at 4:00 a.m. a good night's sleep is truly a struggle

After I do all the sleep hygene, closing my eyes is not enough to fall a sleep. And it doesn'tmatter how much I want deep sleep, it's not voluntary. I wake up at 3am. Drink some water, close my eyes again. Some times the alarm sounds at 6.30 and I was still with my eyes closed but awake. Some times I manage to fall asleep and I have to drag myself out of bed. Repeating to myself "I need to sleep" does absolutely nothing at all.

When I saw the Title , I had no idea the answer would be" SLEEP"( points well brought out) I truly believe in what your saying , I will take on the CHALLENG, struggling with the weight so I will increase my hours of rest , I usually get between 6-7hrs. and I sleep very well through the whole night, (61 yrs old) but I need to start my sleep earlier so I can get 8hrs. I'll have to chance some bad habits and create new ones. Thanks
Sleep more. Yeh, I’d sprout wings and fly first. How to make sleep happen is what I need to know. I’ve done all the recommended stuff-dark room, lower temp, warm bath, yadda, yadda…..it just doesn’t make a difference. I wake up every two hours. Melatonin and diphenhydramine make me bounce off the walls, valerian tea helps some, but then that extra water has consequences, too. Akkk….also, I have refractory RLS.
My Oura ring says my HRV is always off, even when I'm getting enough sleep. Maybe I need to be more consistent with sleep. I'll try the month consistency of sleep and see if my HRV improves. Thanks so much Mindy!!
I go to bed every night in a room so cool I'm almost cold. However, also every night I am sweating myself awake. Very frustrating and I have no idea what to do about it. I put a lot of effort into sleep hygiene but feel I'm being thwarted! 😢
I wish i could try that so easily😞 i do not drink alcohol, i can fall asleap so easily but always wake up between 4-5 or and i have a good sleep hygiene (the only thing i wanna quit is smoking) i have a fasting lifestyle (according to your book) i even went to therapie to improve sleep. I am exhausted every day😢
Watch the sunrise in the morning it helps make the melatonin for that night and magnesium helps 1 hour before bed, one with multiple kinds like bio optimizers magnesium

Thanks for the information. How to combat if sleep is disturbed by night time urination. Even though with 12 hours dry fasting, I have to get up minimum two times to urinate.
Does it matter what time you sleep or just the amount of time that you sleep? My daughter sleeps after work from 5pm-8pm, wakes up to work some more and goes to bed at 1am, and wakes up at 7am.
I am postmenopausal at 64. I have gained 30 pounds since starting menopause. I cannot lose this weight I sleep regularly I fast regularly. I have not lost 1 pound as a matter fact I’ve gained weight I have never not slept regularly. Go to bed at 9:30. I get up at seven every morning like clockwork. I do not eat untilnoon, I have one cup of coffee in the morning after I eat at lunch I wait until 6 o’clock to eat again I don’t snack. I have two dogs I work outside. I mow my grass. I still cannot lose weight so please explain it to me and explain to me how I lose weight if I’m doing all these things every single damn day and still cannot lose the 30 pounds I have gained on menopause.
I feel ya’. I’m 63 and share your symptoms. 8 years post menopausal and I look 30 years older. First time in my life I’ve been fat. 50 pounds overweight. Fasting, healthy food choices, doesn’t matter. Still fat.
I go to sleep ridiculously early these days. I used to watch TV until 10- 11pm, but nothing on tv is interesting to me anymore, sleep and dreams are much more interesting. I'm in bed by 8 and hopefully asleep by 9, which is the bare minimum I need since I get up at 5:00am on work days.

Hi Dr Mindy Pelz. I am 50 yrs and dying to sleep well at night. After menopause which was 4 yrs back. I have not had a single night of good sleep. What should I do I'm really tired
I tried everything to get better sleep. I went four years on two hours of sleep a night during menopause. I'm sure that helped my body develop cancer. I increased my vitamin D to 30000 IU and magnesium glycinate at night and now I have no problem with sleep. Amazing how our health care system doesn't help us test our bodies for deficiencies.
