I have been to Newfoundland once in my life, and while there I fell in love with the people, their way of living, and the land there....and when I want to wander back there in my mind, I listen to a Harry Martin song, like this one, and it gives me peace and rest. Only been there once, but in my mind I go back often. Newfoundland will never leave my mind, heart, and soul.
Sitting here 9am came across this song again, crying my eyes out. I remember being 12 and at my grandpas funeral, and this was the song they played during the slideshow
Harry, your songs make me home sick for the big land, each song is an anthum and brings back memories of my many canoe and fishing trips with the Goudies, Michelins and Pikes just to mention a few of my many friends in the big land
A great description of where your heart lives Harry Martin and your home. I thoroughly enjoy your music and your incredible lyrics on your cd's I purchased when I had visited Newfoundland and Labrador in 2008. The people and the scenery are as beautiful as you portray them in your song lyrics.
This Is My Home Harry Martin I have no silver No diamonds or gold But i am far richer By the visions i've hold 'Cause i've seen the mountains and I've seen the sea i've Seen all that beauty And lived a life that was free When the cool autumn moonlight Shines down through the trees No place under heaven Would i rather be Where the wild birds are flying And the caribou roam Many places i've rambled But this is my home And when i am weary And its time to rest Please take this old body To the place i love best Some where on that mountain Turn my face to the sea (c) And let the wind in the treetops Sing me to sleep 'Cause i've seen those mountains I've been to the sea And all of that beauty Is like heaven to me Where the wild birds are flying And the caribou roam Many places i've rambled But this is my home Where the wild birds are flying And the caribou roam Many places i've rambled But this is my home
A very BEAUTIFUL song!! My DREAM is to go to NFLD someday!!! hey you are allowed to dream , This song has so much meaning in it WOW!!! awesome lyrics 💖👏⭐
Beautiful song….it was sung (by Richard Neville) in February at my sister’s funeral! Hope all is going well!! I just saw that you released a new song!! I’ll go there next!! Cheers!
My Father Harry Bradley was born in Labrador. He was one of 9 children. 8 boys and 1 girl. Sadly he passed away some time ago but I went to Labrador in 2014 This music is so redolent of the island. I cannot begin to even imagine the trials and tribulations of the families years ago.
I find this song to be the most home felt song I've ever heard, It sounds so lonesome, I likenet it to Johnny Hortins "Wispering Pines song' . love it dearly. I used the first two lines as a Gospel song. I have no silver, no diamonds or Gold / But I am far richer by the treasure I know.. ...
This may be a Labrador Classic.....but this is what I fell in love with while in Newfoundland......Harry Martin, singing "This Is My Home." The people of Newfoundland think a lot of the Harry Martin, songs.
Labrador is Nfld..Nfld is Labrador... it is Both a Nfld n Labrador Classic .. We are not separate We are ONE!!!! It is a Great song of Nfld and Labrador
Walter Fillier YOU ARE SO SO SADLY MISTAKEN.
