@@Derals1 honestly I've never met an owner with such explanation (russia and mid-asia). They usually do it to keep an image of powerful guard dog. In real conditions, dogs like Alabai fight bears, so their ears and tails cut short to prevent bear grabbing it. So, some ppl in cities still want their dog look like bear-fighter, not a giant bear cub :)
@@jbmiami9010 it's just meaningless when done for simple "look-like-badass". Not that it doesn't gives me live and breathe. But interesting that in some breeds who really has overgrown ears, ppl doesn't do that procedure. For example, basset-hounds: their heavy ears could pull down lower eyelid so low, that cornea will be teared. But I've never seen those pathetic guys with short ears.
