Thank you for always providing detailed ball introductions. I noticed in the DNA Coil video that there seems to be a discrepancy between the displayed and actual layout (e.g., pin-up versus pin-down numbers). While you explain the layout clearly, it would be great if the display could accurately reflect this in the future. I look forward to your continued success.
Great example of when a ball just isn't right for the current conditions. You can really see how early it gets offline and starts hooking and reading the mid-lane at the arrows. Forces you super deep and then can't handle the big angles you need to keep it in the pocket without burning up. I get big Halo Vision vibes from this ball and looks like it could be money with a little lane shine. Feel the same way about the OG Summit, once it shines up it's extremely predictable and gives a better read of the lanes than something right in the middle of the bag like a Phaze II. Ion Pro and Max make a good 1-2 punch, similar to Summit/Hy-Road, and one is always going to look good unless the lanes are absolutely fried.
I throw two handed and had the same problems with the Gem. Just too strong to use especially on house shots just about anywhere. I didnt throw it for a long time. Bowled a few sport shots with it and just let it lane shine and get some oil soaked in...and now its my favorite ball pretty much no matter where I go and I probably have a couple hundred games with that ball and its just money. I am hoping the Ion Max will be the same way.
The more reviews I see on this ball the more I want it😅 you said it’s like a step down from the gem? Hmm might have to pick it up then cause the Gem is one of my favorite balls ever next to the storm Anarchy which I really wish they’d remake 😢
Would this be a good replacement for an eternity pi in your arsenal of? Optimal idol pearl, Ion pro, hustle BRY, phaze 2, eternity pi, attention star. Plus a couple side pieces with iq ruby, and tmt infused. Thanks Darren
I just started bowling 2-handed this is my 3rd or 4th month and I’m averaging like 60 or 70 do you think I’m doing good for just recently starting 2-handed
Thank you. I know you don't like league, but if you were to recommend a bowling ball for house pattern league, would you choose this over X-Cell? thanks
What collar is that on your jersey? I ordered the orange one in your SUMMIT ACCENT video, but when it arrived it wasn’t that particular collar…I thought it was the Polo Zipper collar just flipped up. Is your collar an option to choose from? Thank you

God, I already want one, as a 2 hander, I’m always looking to find the next strongest ball for me to conquer the lanes with, from a new DNA to a Crux Prime, I have done a lot. But this one feels different! Plus it comes out 5 days before my 18th birthday
@@cowleysmobilewelding right on, just found the site with the info. Curious about this $250 tournament ticket. The even page makes it seem like this is an open bowling session.
i feel like a lot of people prefer to choose just bc it's easier to have 1 style that's "tournament ready." Plus, bringing 6 balls is all that's really practical for some bowlers. i couldn't imagine bringing 12 balls around or only having 3 one handed pieces and 3 two-handed pieces. It's not too bad of an idea but, it kinda just comes down to logistics
@@TrashiestSenpai haha was only half serious on that one 😜 though since your comment provoked more thought.....I could certainly imagine a professional being skilled enough to sustain two separate styles optimally or one dominant style with an alternate when absolutely needed. Thinking on how Mark Baker considers Chris via and Kyle Troup "1-handers that happen to keep their left hand on the ball" makes me wonder about the possible overlap in mechanics that could result in a similar-enough approach for one to be able to keep both styles at their peak more efficiently.
Regarding the arsenal: I was thinking more about the tour folks, who all have dozens of bowling balls at their disposal through being on team Storm, Brunswick, or Motiv. Though for a rising competitor, it could be more about catering how many of each goes in your arsenal by the style that plays better for a certain pattern, lane material, or even specific quirks of different houses. Tour guys often talk about a house notoriously hooking more overall or even more specific factors like how strong the backends are or how much the gutters hook at specific alleys. My buddy (thumb-in 1h) typically bowls significantly better than his 2h buddies at one house near them while they're all more on-par at other houses. Now that could be for a number of reasons, but one of which could also be a style advantage. And in a sport like ours, any advantage or extra tool could be the difference between cashing and being cut
@@justinp7200 I get what you're saying. i think the hybrid style idea definitely has its advantages, and having more tools and tricks are great. But i feel like comfortable and consistent shot-making is just as vital. There would need to be a lot of work that goes into your shot, since you're almost building two very different shots. That's a tough adjustment for pros and tour players who have so much mental and physical game cross-wired into each other. Their shot is a product of years of bowling work. But, now that i think about it, probably wouldn't be so different from pros who swap 1-handed to 2-handed. And putting that in practice, it's probably not too different from someome like Osku swapping styles for strikes or spares. But i feel like it ultimately comes down to preference, comfort, and consistency more than anything since it's all about hitting the same target the same way once you've found your line that scores. I totally get that some people like having options of how to attack certain patterns and centers, but i also think it could be easy for some people to overthink the lane when you've got so many options to get to the pocket. But everyone's wired differently and if anyone can make that work i think it's super commendable
Put the pre-order for this ball on Friday. This ball looks like a possible nut candidate despite the lane conditions not showing it! Great review! Its nice showing the time and place of the use of balls as well. Thanks for the content DTang!
As a comparison, I'm gonna try to throw both the Ion Pro and Max at the upcoming demo day to see which is going in my bag first. The Pro did wow me when I tested it back in June, on 3 of the 4 sports shots put out for us that day. Darren, please pin this comment in a couple weeks as a reminder. 😁
