This is probably the end for Lucic...

This is sad news out of Boston today. Milan Lucic, who has become a household name amongst NHL fans is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the Boston Bruins. While he’s had a reputation, the power forward has been able to carve out a nice career playing over 1300 games in the NHL. Entering his 16th season this year, he’s been generally fairly well respected. At least that’s how I felt about him. I may not have always liked him, but I respected him. Reportedly, late last night Lucic was arrested in Boston for a domestic dispute. At this stage in his career, this is probably the end of the road for his NHL playing days. I cover it in todays NHL video.

*UPDATE* : I-Team sources say Lucic’s wife called 911 and told Boston police her husband attacked and choked her. When officers arrived, sources added that Milan Lucic appeared drunk. x.com/TiffanyWBZ/status/1726025484373274967?s=20

If I'm not mistaken, this is not the the first domestic incident with Lucic; I'm not actually surprised, we're seeing this man for what he is. I never liked or "respected" Lucic for what he was. He is two years older than myself and embodied everything I thought was wrong in hockey. He essentially thugged his way through junior and into the NHL, while other Midget and Bantam players would be thrown out for fighting, or should I say "showing the same emotion in their game as Lucic". That's not to say he doesn't have palpable talent, it's just other physical power forwards had better morals than to take the scrapperella route to the NHL.
@exturkconner
@exturkconner 9 месяцев назад
He had an incident in 2011 but no charges were filed against him. So nothing came of that. Who knows if anything will comes of this. As far as what he was as a hockey player. He was a guy who never had an elite skillset when it came to passing, or scoring, or skating. But what he could do was play a hard physical game, and standup for his teammates. He gave everything he had to get to the nhl, and continued to do so for the first several years of his career while he built a reputation firstly as one of the the more feared enforcers and later as one of the best power forwards in the game. After some fights that didn't go his way, and a few broken noses Lucic's game radically changed for several years. His last year in Boston, and his entire tenure in Edmonton were plagued by him no longer being the force he had been. Part of that was his change in playstyle and part of that was unrealistic expectations. So while I can understand why someone wouldn't like or appreciate him, especially if they didn't get to see him play a lot until his time in Edmonton no one should questions his dedication, determination, and grit. I get that some people prefer the Mike Bossy type of player. The guy who's tough but who doesn't dirty his hands. But that doesn't make Lucic's path any easier or less impressive. And he does deserve respect for it.
@professordogwood8985
