A very old metal rock head here saw Pink Floyd live 3 times. I can only say , You don’t listen to Pink Floyd music you emotionally experienced them. I suggest you do any song from the Pulse concert to start your journey, High Hopes, Sorrow, Learning to Fly or Run Like Hell. You mentioned you were 24 in your video, I would like to suggest Echo’s live in Pompeii 1972 most of the band members were around that age and they were creating incredible music and sounds. I think you’ll see that Pink Floyd is its own genre and way ahead of their time and are generational because younger people are discovering this incredible music. I'm happy to be at the beginning of your Pink Floyd experience. I subscribed after watching your genuine reax to Wish You Were and now this one. One thing that you'll hear a lot about listening to PF music is to listen to full albums. The starter pack is Dark Side of the Moon, WIsh You Were Here (album), and The Wall. All 3 are complete concept albums. Comfortably Numb is from The Wall and WYWH is from that album. When you hear them in context of the entire album, along with some backstory on former bandmate Syd Barrett, it'll take on a whole new meaning and appreciation for you. Keep it up. EDIT TO ADD: also listening to the albums with headphones is a must for immersion.

The Floyd put a lot of effort into their live performances. Their light shows in particular have used the best technology of the time. When watching them in a live setting have some appreciation of the whole performance.

I flew from Australia just for this concert, life altering concert. i'm 69 and have been a Floydy for 50 yrs now. i play this in my 12 string guitar most nights. i taught myself to play after hearing wish You Were Here, another brilliant song from this concert !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also it is a sin to pause Pink Floyd for any reason

I wasn’t at that concert tour but did see them in the mid 70’s and in the 80’s. One of my favorite bands started with them in 69. You will enjoy “Time” especially at your age, you might think of life differently. Great Gig in the Sky should follow immediately. The whole Dark Side of the Moon full thru.😎

Hi bud, I know a lot of folk are suggesting to react to certain other songs from this same concert, and I can't argue that they're great songs also & well worth a watch... But, before you do, I'd suggest listening to Shine On You Crazy Diamond, official video version. It's from the same album Wish You Were here is on, & is one of their biggest & best tracks. It's a tribute to a founding main member Syd Barrett, who had to leave due to mental illness brought on by the use of psychedelics. He had been out the band for a lot of years when they decided to write this song, they hadn't kept in touch, because his family didn't think it would be a good idea. But on the day the band went to record this song, there was a large man in the studios, none of them knew who he was. After a short while it was pointed out to them it was Syd, but he looked totally different. So for whatever strange reason after years of not being in touch, the guy they wrote the tribute about just turned up at the studio on the day of recording.

I saw this concert at the Rose Bowl in '94 when I was 18. I had been listening to Floyd for 3 years before that but that night changed my life and hopefully seeing this will change yours. To this day Pink Floyd is my absolute favorite band and believe it or not, this is not even my favorite song from the band. They have so many "life changing" tracks but I would recommend you take the time to listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond. You need to experience it.

I grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Stones, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Hendrix, all the greatest music bands in the greatest era of music. Floyd & Zepplin were my 2 favourites!

I went to one of the PULSE shows at Earl’s Court. It was every bit as good as you would imagine. ‘One Of These Days’, ‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘Astronomy Dominé’ from that show were just a few of my favourites. So glad you enjoyed it. 🤘🏻

My late father was at that concert in 1994 (two years before I was born). I remember him telling me what a jaw dropping experience it was and that he was totally mesmerised throughout the entire show. He had seen Pink Floyd a number of times before, including 1980 at Earls Court, during their amlor tour and at Knebworth in 1990, I think he also saw David Gilmour solo in the early 80's. I'm extremely jealous of him.

I was fortunate enough to see this concert twice, and it's still the best. Shine on was great but I recommend listening to the original off the album Wish You Were Here. Its a masterpiece, one of many. They can't do full song in concert, its about a half hour long itself! You will appreciate the genius and insane talent of these guys!

Old geezer here… 66 and a rocker my whole life… pink Floyd was always one of my favorite bands, because sonically everything they did was just so intently woven and interesting. I have nothing against today’s music, but a lot of it is overdubs and auto tune, and basically getting into the notes and just moving things around a bit. Still today’s music can evoke emotions and feelings and that’s what it’s all about isn’t it?❤

There is one thing that few people speak about when reacting to Pink Floyd Live concert videos that, I think, deserves mention: the amazing camera work! While the music of this band has ALWAYS spoken for itself, the lighting effects in combination with the cameras are also a major part of their undying heart-stirring music. When the cameras zoom in on Gilmour when he is in a fantastic guitar solo is mesmerizing to me, especially when the lights on stage go completely dark except for a single spot on David as he makes magic with that guitar (10:00). It's saying, like "this man is a singular phenomenon", as he stirs the heart and takes you to another plane, another place you did not expect to go. Amazing!! Thank you for this reaction video.

I've been listening to Pink Floyd since the early 70's. Pink Floyd is by far the best band to step on stage or a studio. Really the biggest difference is you will experience their music more than just listening to it. To put them into perspective their album Dark Side of the Moon was on the charts for over 18 years. ... Live, Musicians Singing and Playing an Instrument at the same time, No "Auto Tune," simply incredible Talent. Consider too that Pink Floyd began in 1965, so basically 30 years before this concert adds to the phenomenon, which is "Pink Floyd." I got to see them Live in 1973, in San Francisco, while they were promoting their New Album "The Dark Side Of The Moon." Still the very best concert that I've EVER experienced. They are quite unique. There has never been any Band like them before and unfortunately there will never be any Band like them again and I use the word "Unfortunately" because each of the Musicians are in their 70's now, (2024), and soon will be gone from our planet. I was 30 years old when I realized my dream of seeing this concert live by the group that marked, with its music, every day of my adolescence. Today, 30 years later, I discover that many of you young people are rediscovering this music... Guys I really have shivers and I feel a warmth warming my heart. It's a bit unfair to compare today's music with the 70's, 80s and 90's. However, there are several artists in the last decade that take their craft seriously. For instance, Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree fame is a master of his craft (my son got me into his music), and I'm sure there are several others one can speak highly of. But I do feel lucky to have been around when Pink Floyd began, along with all the other great groups of those days. I did watch the Pulse Concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena California in 1994. It was simply an amazing concert. Thank you for spreading your wings, and I hope your channel thrives!

Welcome to the brotherhood, my friend! And I don't think folks of my generation think of current music as garbage. (Well, not all of it.) We just think.....our music was better. (insert smug smile here) And there's a LOT more good music from the 70's and 80's to be reacted to. Regarding "Comfortably Numb", it's from their double-album, "The Wall". It's the story of fictional young man named Pink Floyd, who wants to grow up to be a rock star. Over the course of the album, he achieves his goal, but at a cost. As the song begins, Pink has come to realize that he has turned away everyone who ever cared for him, and who was willing to tell him the truth. Now he's surrounded himself with greedy managers and promoters, yes-men who are only using him to make money. He hates his life, but has no way to escape it. So in his desperation, he turns to self-medication - drug use. As the song begins, it's one night before a concert, and Pink is too stoned to play. The promoter is afraid he'll have to give refunds, which he hates to do. So he calls in a local doctor. The doctor has no idea what's going on, so he begins by trying to assess Pink's condition. The lyrics are a conversation between the doctor, and then Pink. Pink's incredibly soothing music reflects his state of mind; he's blissfully distant from all his troubles ("You are only coming through in waves, Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying") The doctor, still not learning much about what Pink may have taken, throws together Dr. Feelgood's All-Star Top-Drawer Fix-For-What-Ails-Ya Formula, injects Pink with it ("Just a little pinprick") and shoves him out on stage. David Gilmour's first solo is while Pink is still comfortably numb; it soars and dives and rises again. It's pure emotional bliss, set to music. His second solo is after the shot has kicked in, and Pink has been sobered up. He's forced to confront the life he hates - his loneliness, his self-loathing, his depression, his rage....it's all in there. Gilmour is simply brilliant. Bassist and principal songwriter Roger Waters (who had left the band nearly a decade before this performance) wrote the song based on his own personal experience. While touring in 1977, Roger took ill before a concert in Philadelphia. A local doctor was brought in, but apparently in that case there was a diagnosis of hepatitis. Still, the shot Roger was given left him confused on stage, with numb hands for much of the show. I had the privilege of seeing this show at Sun Devil Stadium, with 70, 000 of my closest friends. It was even better than the video can show. Throughout the entire show, the lights were tightly coordinated with the music, to the point where I remember thinking to myself that I have to stop grinning stupidly at the light show, or I was going to miss the music. It was almost like another performer. Couple of other details about the show ~ PF had speakers set up around the perimeter of the stadium, so parts of music, or sometimes just sounds, could come at you from behind, or the other side of the arena, or anywhere. Once the lights went down, you quickly developed a sense that you were a part of Pink Floyd's reality. It's one reason why it was said that seeing Pink Floyd live was a truly unique experience. Another major reason why, on this particular tour (to support their last studio album, "The Division Bell") you felt like you were a visitor to the Floydverse was that MASSIVE stage. Even in an American football stadium, that stage dominated the venue. Enormous and all black, 180 feet across, a 130-foot arch ENCRUSTED with layers upon layers of lights, three days to set it up, two more to take it down, and three of these stages leap-frogging each other around the world. I'm sure others will confirm...the live show was even better than it looks. This turned out to be their last tour together (save for the odd one-off performances here and there) and they may have just decided to blow it all out and end it on top. They surely did that - I've seen a lot of concerts, and I've never seen a better one than PULSE (BTW, the name derives from the original CD release, which came out before the video releases, and which had a red LED in the spine that flashed, or 'pulsed'). Generally speaking, the PULSE versions will be the best ones to review, although you also do need to listen to the album versions at some point. I would suggest "Sorrow", "High Hopes", or "Time". The PULSE version of the last two songs on their EPIC 1973 album, "The Dark Side Of The Moon", (which they performed in it's entirety during one segment of the PULSE concert tour) "Brain Damage / Eclipse" would also be an excellent choice. As far as other artists of this era, one very good choice would be Billy Joel. While he was making music, it seemed every other hit song was his. (He has TWO greatest hits collections) For starters, try "Piano Man" a true story of when he had to live and work undercover, or "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant". When asked what song he was proudest of, his choice was "And So It Goes", an achingly poignant song, very simple and uncomplicated. Thanks for reacting to this, brother! All though Pink Floyd is #2 in sales around the world a lot of their music didn't get played on the radio do to length of time . Not 4 beat 4 minute songs. like you tube do to copyrights. The disco ball is a FU to music critics who said they won't sell because they don't play dance & love songs, Look up 1983 album cover " Pink Floyd collection of dance songs". 200,000 watts of power, 128 wireless speakers, outdoor needed FAA clearance for lasers.

Not sure it has been mentioned yet but here goes, Pink Floyd album's are like a book and each song is a chapter in that book. So to get the full understanding of the story it should be listened to from first chapter to last chapter. Shine on you Crazy Diamond I-V and VI-IX should be on your list of songs for sure. I would suggest when you get to "The Great Gig in the Sky" that you first listen to the studio version before hearing a live version. As far as other bands...so many to mention from that era of music. Led Zeppelin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cream, Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat & Tears, Chicago, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Steely Dan, Queen, Robin Trower, Peter Frampton, Supertramp...and on and on. You could try anyone of those bands for some great real music.

If you enjoyed the guitar solo by David Gilmour, try the group Wishbone Ash. They were the originators of using dual lead guitars. On their first album titled simply Wishbone Ash, listen to Phoenix and Handy. I'm sure you will enjoy them. Also another Wishbone Ash song that is all instrumental is F.U.B.B. The guitar work is simply amazing!

I subscribed to your channel after watching your two Pink Floyd reactions. Pretty much any track from the 94 Earl's Court P.U.L.S.E. concert will get you familiarised with their bigger hits. David Gilmour has his own music out which is very similar in sound but is definitely his own personal music. Enjoy!

Great reaction. Have to mention one important thing though. The version you just watched/listened to is the EDITTED version, and has over one MINUTE of the guitar finale cut out. The reason is that David Gilmour (guitarist) thought he heard an 'iffy' note or two, so edited it out. I think even if there is an iffy note, it only lasts a second, and the other minute and change is still David Gilmour playing. I was born in 1960, and the biggest difference between music now and then is that when I was growing up, bands had talent. They played all kinds of instruments, nothing pre-recorded, did not push a button for this effect, another for that effect. NO AUTOTUNE!! And then watch a live show, they did this night after night for months a time LIVE ON STAGE in different city every couple of nights!!! They used the events of their times and lives to write their songs, and collaborated amongst the band members. And most songs had meaning, and messages for the youth. They were not just to make money. For instance, some groups could take up to 1 or 2 years between albums.

You should check out Great Gig in the Sky for the best example of emotions expressed without words. Definitely start with the studio version, then maybe check out a live performance.

You should check out the entire 'Pulse' concert. One of the finest live performances captured. You are watching the band at the apex of their musical skills. The stage/lighting show cost 25 million--in 1994. The band was always cutting edge musically and visually. They never considered themselves 'rock stars'; they are/were musicians. I did not see the Pulse tour, but was lucky to see them live 2x back in the day. One never sees live performance the same after having a PF experience.

I'm biased as I was at earls court in 94, but you can't go wrong with any of the live songs at the Pulse Concert. Sorrow and the turning away were probably my fav from that concert. Shine on you crazy diamond (all Parts) will always be my favourite music to listen to.

I read somewhere recently that when asked about this solo David Gilmour commented that 'there weren't too many lyrics' in the song so he had to 'fill it out' somehow - haha holy shit Davey boy - nice little filler there son!!

I'm a 64-year old man, and this is just some of the music that has been a part of my life since I was a teenager a half-century ago. I had just turned 20 when the studio version was released in 1979. I don't mind that you, or anyone else, pause during a song. You're giving a reaction to a song, and something grabs you about it at a particular moment ...you feel compelled to comment! It makes me smile seeing a younger generation enjoy the music those of us in their 50's and older grew up with.
