The band was so happy when they did the final take of the video, because Freddie was exausted and needed a rest. But he demanded to do a retake of the "I still love you" because he realized this would be his last time infrot of a camera ever, so he wanted to do it better ... and he did
The first time I heard this it was my go to when I was down love you Freddie., Brian, John and Roger. Thank you for the music you wrote it reaches many people.
When Freddie got real sick, the doctor advised everyone that Freddie may not see Christmas 1990. But Freddie still continued as best he could. Such a brave man wanting to keep singing even though he faced his own mortality, not knowing if he had weeks or months left. In May 1991, Freddie sang his last lyrics ever to their last song called Mother Love. Use the lyrics video. Freddie said he would come back when he felt up to it, he never came back, dying in November 1991. Brian and the boys revisited it much later after his death where Brian sung the last verse. It was released in 1995. Freddie was so ill here as he could barely stand... he would sit at the mixing desk to sing. Also check The Show Must go on... as his voice, at his dying days is outstanding...Brian didn't think Freddie would be able to sing it.. but Freddie said "I'll fu**ing do it darling" and downed a vodka and slayed that hard part in the song. Freddie still while dying produced better singing than some singers today in full health. It's awful to see this, but very brave of Freddie at the same time. Shot in black and white due to his ailing condition. Brian said it was Freddie's last goodbye to his fans.
Freddie adored his cats and someone made the fabric for his vest with the images of his own cats. It is fitting that he should wear this vest in his last video as a tribute to his cats who laid beside him until the very end. I read that Freddie's last physical movement was him stroking one of his cats and then he passed. This song was written by Roger and was actually written about his kids but it took on a whole different life and meaning during and after this video. This video always makes me cry and smile. I smile because you can see that no matter how sick Freddie was, he still wanted to sing and I cry because he is physically a shadow of the man we all watched for 20 years. Thank you for reacting to this song.
Never knew that. As a woman who loves her cats to a ridiculous level, I can imagine how soothing this was to him. My heart breaks for what he went through.
Freddie's last physical movement was lifting his leg up while being changed after he had peed on himself. Then he just passed.😞 If that seems way to personal and intrusive blame Jim Hutton it is from his book.
@@joeblow2069 Phoebe (Peter) and others have told a different story. They said that they changed Freddie after he died, knowing that it would have been his wish to be presentable, even in death. Urination and defecation are both normal consequences of death.
Band members later said in interviews how difficult this was to film. Freddie feverishly told Brian to write him anything in the last days and he would sing it & told them they could do with it whatever they chose after he was gone. The band closed ranks in the end and did everything they could to protect Freddie.
Just lost my darling mum 2 weeks ago. She adored Queen. They were her absolute favorite. This fab song has taken on a whole new meaning these last 2 weeks. Brian's solo piece on this song is incredible.
I’m so sorry for your deep loss. I lost my mother from England just over 3 years ago. She adored Adam Lambert so in her 80’s she was introduced to Queen music since he fronted the band. I went to a concert with her in Vancouver, BC. She ADORED Queen music. Freddie was a genius and an angel. Sending love! 💞
Bless you A Dogg, you can tell the sadness in your eyes was so real, Freddie was indeed one in a zillion and still missed so so much by the world over and as you say, always will be, he was, the “ Greatest showman” xxxxxx
They had to play this song piece by piece because Freddie couldn't stand for long, and singing exhausted him. This goodbye song stands as a testament to his inner strength, and the love he had for his fans.
Yes this was the very last video he recorded and to this day, I still can't watch it without crying. However, the very last song he recorded was Mother Love. He was very ill at his time and could only record part of it. He told Brian, Roger and John that he needed to go rest and he would come back and finish it. He never did. Brian finished the last verse almost 2 years after Freddie's death.
I cried seeing this for the first time. Freddy had a way to pull you in and feel the lyrics. Brian May's guitar playing helped tell this songs story, amazing. This song just touches your heart. There never has or never will be another Freddy Mercury!
I've said before, if I could go back in time and go to one concert, it would be to see Queen, because the entire band is amazing, but Freddie's voice was like none other. He owned a stage the moment he stepped on it. This being his final song makes me cry every time I hear it.
Such a beautiful song.It always makes me cry seeing Freddie sing like he always did ,yet knowing it was his last video/tune.Freddie was a true showman ,right until the end.R.I.P Freddie ,and thankyou for the memories.
As sick as Freddie was, his voice continued to be incredible. About this time, he had lost part of his foot to complications from AIDS. At some point, he was also suffering from some blindness in one eye. Yet, he sang his heart out until he literally couldn't sing the last verse of his last recorded song. Freddie represents more then music. He is the living embodiment of the greatest part of the Human Spirit. Another song that I cannot listen to without crying. Great reaction.
Sad indeed...we’re sad because we lost Freddie, but worldwide how many others fell from the same? How many families and friends have lost a loved one?The only redeeming quality of Freddie dying, is we have recordings to listen to, and opportunities to remember him. RIP Freddie Mercury!
Roy Moore - Another "redeeming quality" of his death was since he was beloved by so many people they realized that those who got AIDS were not all horrible people who deserved to die. That's what some people thought back then.
@@susieq9801 You’re so right! The social reaction was schizophrenic at worst, a collective society in utter denial at best...and in America, a superstar athlete suddenly & without any preparation, retired from the NBA, and would end his career immediately? Magic Johnson had acquired the HIV. As Freddie sang about it being time to go and face the truth, Magic did exactly that. His employer, the L.A. Lakers & the NBA, refused to permit him to play in the league. Period! Another complication, was an upcoming Olympic Games. They permitted Magic to play. The result, first time professional players were allowed to participate. The USA called its team, The Dream Team. They routinely won with margins of 40 or more points. Ultimately there were no problems from that decision to allow Magic to play. If good came of his situation, it was the development of more medicines that addressed the disease in other ways.
@@susieq9801 Exactly. It's sad that only 6months to a year later, drugs that meant AIDS was not a death sentence started to make a difference to life expectancy.
It wasn't intended as a Freddie song, Roger Taylor on drums wrote this about his own life with his children, but it took on new meaning, and all four can sing and play different instruments, and they all wrote different songs for the group and solo careers they had during and after Freddie passed away, which will actually be 30 years next month, Dr Brian May Lead Guitar John Deacon Bass
When I first saw this video, I couldn’t believe it could be Freddie. The band's manager arranged an animated video because of Freddie's seriously bad condition, but Freddie didn't want to say goodbye to the world as a pencil drawing. He wore cashmere underwear because he was always very cold due to the high weight loss. Freddie had an extremely strong personality, he was never regretted anything, he was never complaining about anything, he was living for the music. His illness could only break him very late, he gave up the fight only when he could no longer sing, after Mother Love which he couldn't finish. Don't forget to check it out.
This video makes Queen fans sad but interestingly the band's previous video "I'm Going Slightly Mad", despite the fact that Freddie looks almost as ill and the song was written about one of the effects of AIDS, usually brings a smile.
Freddie’s favorite cat waistcoat was made by friend, Donald McKenzie and given to Freddie at Christmas 1990. Freddie’s former fiancé & longtime friend was the first to bring home a pair of cats who the couple named Tom & Jerry! 😺😸 I love this video but saddened when I watch it. Freddie who lived life to the fullest is seen weakened by the effects of his illness! “I still love you” 🙂
I absolutely love Queen, and this song always amazes, and humbles me. This was truly the swan song of the most incredible voice in the history of music. I, absolutely loved Freddie Mercury's talent, and the silence of his absence in music today is heartbreaking.
What can one say, the lyrics speak to us all of our childhood and teenage years when the world was our oyster and the days were all golden and we'd fight and never lose. And when Freddie speaks his final words ... I'm in bits here, crying my eyes out. Not just for Freddie, for us all. Adogg, I could see you were moved, your beautiful smile was missing. Blessed be, all people.
This video always makes me cry. You can see how sick and frail he is but he keeps pushing through to finish it. Also the last words he says to his fans are I still love you.
Brian always plays his solos as tho he’s continuing the singers solo… his guitar is a ‘voice’… And, yes, this was Freddie’s ‘goodbye’! He continued to record music for a while longer, but did not appear in any further videos. The music he recorded was all released after he died.. the album is “Made in Heaven”!
Love your emotion dude, it always comes through. Could tell this one was heavy for you. Keep your head up and your heart inspired, and love that little girl of yours.
Freddie sang up until the day he died. His last song was Mother Love. Brian had to sing the last part as Freddie was so ill he had to go home. He died the next day. 😢 miss him. What a legend.
Freddie was so sick when they made this song and video. The sores from AIDS had eaten through the bottoms of his feet so that he could hardly stand. He was close to the end of his life. Yet that beautiful voice never ever failed him. He left this beautiful song to enjoy forever. He’s the bravest person. I think I’ve ever seen. Keep flying high Freddie. We miss you.
Freddie is considered the greatest front man ever and for good reason. As for Brian May is considered one of the best and one of the best examples of his skill with a guitar is the song Bijou. Other song you should check out Sheer Heart Attack, Dragon Attack,Save Me,Great King Rat,March of the Black Queen,Ogre Battle which was the inspiration for the Ogre Battle video game series. Other songs The Millionaire Waltz,Man On The Prowl,Is This The World We Created. I'll stop there for now but I will say that you should listen to the studio version of there songs first. Queen is amazing live but they used a lot of layering in there music and I think it's better to hear what they intended first then watch the live later to see how they make work without the layering it just shows you that much more on how great they as a band. On a side note how awesome would it have been to hear Freddie and Barry Gibb sing together.
I remember seeing the video at 12 years old and knowing that he was saying goodbye to his fans. Everytime I see the video or hear the song I cry. He was so weak but pushed through for this video. The makeup is so heavy to cover up the Kaposi sarcoma lesions. My Aunt was a hospice nurse for AIDS patients in the 80s and 90s. Most of these men and women were disowned and abandoned by their own family. She not only gave them comfort in their final days but she treated them with love and dignity. She also volunteered at a clinic that treated patients with HIV/AIDS. I named my daughter, my only child after her.
Show Must Go On is another that makes me cry. The band did the studio mixing for these tracks after Freddie died. I can't imagine how emotional that must have been.
Thankyou dear! Love Queen….Freddie was so special, he kept on going until the end. That’s what makes him my g.o.a.t. So much respect for him and the guys. Queen 4ever. Much bless and love to you youngman.
This was the last video Freddie made...he could barely walk, the illness was deteriorating his body...MOTHER LOVE was the last song Freddie recorded, he felt very ill, told Brian he'd come back to finish it, but passed away before he could, Brian sang the last verse of the song....
This is really soo sad - I cry every time I see or hear this beautiful song - and Freddie... 😭💔 Beautiful lyrics, the crying guitar, Freddie's voice - hardly to stand...
i loved queen when i didn't know it. i love his music just didn't know it was queen. i saw the movie and was shocked. since then i have delved into everything about them. brian may is incredible on the guitar, roger taylor on drums one of the very best, john deacon on bass is great. Freddie is the ultimate front man and showman and singer. i grew up on Elvis, adore him. i love music. if you are just starting to get into Queen you are about to go into an incredible journey. They are beyond awesome
i have cried so many times watching this. i grew up in the 70's, as a kid (1964), prob like freddie. these lyrics resonate. i am sure they do/did for millions. the last 2 1/2 years hammer home how much i/we enjoyed those days.
Freddie didn't live long enough to see this video but it was his goodbye to his fans 😥😥😥he was in so much pain during the filming of this...RIP Freddie we still love you
After No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) this one is a direct punch to the heart I don't wanna imagine the pain Freddie was in since he was seriously ill and he looked super thin I admire Freddie's willingness to not mourn and whine and keep working and producing until he could no longer take the pain anymore this song alongside the tribute made for him years later songs that will bring the tears out of you
70 year old country woman from the south here. Yes this beautiful pure soul had so many lesions covering his body, and he was in such extreme pain. Myself and others like me believe that really and truly the only reason that Freddie Mercury lived as long as he did was because of his love of music and his fans. Freddy could always feel the waves of love coming from his fans is he sang for them. The music and the love from his fans help bolster his strength. Needless to say though music was his life. That's why he was still able to compose and sing music even when he couldn't physically get up.😢😢😢 I've said it before and I'll say it again. Yes my God can be a God a vengeance, BUT he is a most loving God.❤❤❤ My God does not judge you on what you look like or who you are. My God looks into the heart and soul of people and he sees the spirit of the person that he looks at. 🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢💔💔💔. R.I.P. 🌠🌠🌠🎵🎼🎵🥀🌹. Freddie Mercury was a pure beautiful spirit, God's own shooting star 🌠🌠 . The beauty and brilliance of that star makes us gaze up with Wonder, unfortunately as with all shooting stars they don't last long. Although in our memories they will last forever. May you fly on the wings of a dove, we miss you truly Freddy😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤. Thank you sir for playing Freddie Mercury's music that way not only is his memory kept alive but the young people learn about this wonderful musician and singer but he was also a great performer. Let the younger's learn about giving 💯 % . For a great talent such as Freddie Mercury only comes once in a lifetime ;"" IF "" they're lucky enough. Thank you sir for your reactions and keep on keeping on what you're doing. 🙏🙏 God bless you and yours may all stay safe and healthy. Sending much love ❤❤❤❤❤ to everyone and God Bless 🙏🙏🙏
Sad, poignant and oh how beautiful. Can't listen to it without welling up. Thank you for such a lovely, affectionate, heartfelt, respectful reaction. Take care 💐💐
Mother love, was the last song that Freddie recorded, but he could not finishing the lyrics, the last part of the song Brian May sung it. That song is heartbreaking, and of course the very last song from Queen, their tribute song to Freddie.. No one but you.. those songs .. shivers and goosebumps..
you can see them kind of look over at Freddie to see how he was holding up, the disease had taken so much from him by this point, but he still had that voice. First time or hundredth time hearing this, you still get choked up especially when he says I still love you
You can never go wrong with Queen, because there is something for everyone in their music and they are so different in their music genres. Thanks for that great reaction!
He knew he had aids, and he knew it would kill him. He requested of bandmates that he wnted to do music until he couldn't anymore.. . He was so talented an generous. I miss him every day . Can you immagive how those around him felt, knowing he was a 'dead man walking?
Written originally by Rodger for his children - but as you can see it took on a totally different context - The very final words Freddie put in himself for Family, Friends & Fans - to say goodbye & thank you 😢 - Cuts deeply today!
This is a real hard watch because he past away shortly after doing this video and it was such a shock to us all really sad it always brings me to tears we miss Freddie so much Love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴🥰🥰🥰😢🙏💔
I'm so glad that Freddie found the strength and courage to finish all the tracks on the Innuendo album (their best, I think). And Brian May is a beautiful guitarist. His guitar work sounds like no one else's. And now we have these videos where we can re-visit the beautiful music Queen produced. I'm not sure how long it was after the Innuendo album that Freddie finally passed. I hope he knows that we, his fans, still love and miss him. Bless his soul.
This song was written by the drummer Roger Taylor. He said he knew Freddie was very ill and was reflecting on his and life in general. In any case, Roger sings this song very well too and there are videos of him singing it later on RU-vid.
I loved Fred and I remember when I first seen this vid it broke my heart, I think we all knew Fred didn't have long left, plus at that time I remember the press would not leave him alone hanging around his home horrible things been printed about him. It was unjust and so unfair. He truly was a one off and his voice incredible live.❤️
This just hurts. I miss seeing Freddie alive. He didn't live to get the better meds, the ones that messed me up for a while, but which saved my life. One almost killed me at 29. Another cost my my hips at 33. But now, I'm 53, the meds are much less toxic, and I am alive and well. And grateful. And singing with the Knoxville Gay Men's Chorus. But man... There's an old protest sentence that describes me: "All I want is a cure, and my friends back."
This was his last video. He was very sick here. Could barely stand because the horrible condition his foot was in. He spent several hours in the makeup chair to cover up the cancer's on his face. They also put A filter over to hide the condition of his face
Sweetheart it's actually a love letter. That's why it hits your 💙 so hard baby boy. His daddy did maybe wasn't always what he should have been. You are though. Don't ever be weak and give into temptation i implore you. You impress me because you know the the difference between 👉 and wrong. Hold that line, please. I Know i don't know you personally but i do at the same time. There's a song you need to hear. It's called Alone Again Naturally. Be strong and be safe i love you very much.
Roger Taylor wrote this song about his children and it goes perfectly with Freddie's last days and his health condition. What a strong man he was. ❤🤴 Brian is one of the most respected guitarists in the world. Who would know that he is actually Dr Brian May PhD and has a doctorate in astrophysics and was helping NASA with projects.
We often hear the phrase “one of one” overused.. but when it comes to Freddie.. it def holds true!! Him and the music that him and the rest of the band created are timeless!!
Written by Queen. The last video of Freddie. This was filmed in black and white due to AIDS; Queen did not want to show how sick Freddie looked. He was already dying. Tragic! 😭 RIP Freddie Mercury, 30 years this November 🇬🇧
