Although the 50, 60, 70 had some of the all time great musicians, w😅😅e loved Bobby most. But listen to Eric Clampton Tears in heaven and Holy Mother; and Al Greene sing How do you mend a broken heart; and kd Lang on “All I Need Is the air that I breathe” and Crying. So so many greats in those 3 decades. Oh, yes, Roberta Flack - The first time ever I saw your face!
Kudo's young man, for having an open enough mind to give this music a listen in the first place. The Righteous Brothers have to be the greatest male vocal duo ever.
Bobby wasn't given the lead often enough IMO but he always gave his all when it was his turn to come in. Thankfully they both did solos. Happy to see this awesome music we boomers grew up listening to appreciated by younger generations. Nice thoughtful reaction. Thank you.
Specter certainly didn't give Bobby enough that's for sure - and of course most of their big hits were with him. That's why I like their earlier stuff... when Bill and Bobby worked together, they both got the leads as well as solos and duets where they were equal. 'The Moonglow Years' is a wonderful album...😁
In the 20th Century. This song by the Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Loving Feeling (1965)." Was the most listened to and most requested song on the radio throughout America. It's in the Guinness Books of World Records. Bill Medley a Baritone takes the lead here. Together they were one of Rock & Rolls greatest singing Dous. Great reaction to a music genre that was known as "Blue Eye Soul." White Men and Women who can sing and sound black with lots of soul. I consider the music of the 60's as the greatest decade in Rock & Roll history.
@@2Cambourne I was 14. It was a wonderful time for music. Everything was new, rock n roll, British Invasion, Motown, rock operas and Acid Rock. Just amazing.
@@kathyutica You are correct. The 60's had the birth of R&B record labels like Motown and Philadelphia International Records. We had Genres like: Blue Eye Soul, Folk Rock, British Invasion, Singer/Songwriters, Rock Opera's and Symphony Rock. yes! We had the best decade ever in the many Genres of Rock & Roll music. Thanks for your comments and insightful replies.
It’s awesome and a great pleasure to see a young man like yourself to have wisdom beyond your years. I am a 51 yr old woman that is old school. I so love the music from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Back in those days there was no auto tune, you needed talent to get thru. I really enjoy seeing our young people getting to know the music from our past and enjoying it. Thank you for your reaction young man. And keep doing what you are doing. God bless you!
Great reaction. If you like harmonies check out The Everly Brothers. Real brothers perfectly in tune with each other, even though they could hardly stand one another. Lol. Wake up little Susie live is a good start. You won't be sorry. Keep doing what you do.
Hatfield and Medley had extraordinary vocal ranges. A natural baritone who could reach bass-baritone depth and a natural tenor who could effortlessly reach the heights of counter-tenor. Simply beautiful.
I grew up listening to the Righteous Brothers. I watched Bobby in 1965 sing on the Andy Williams show in 1965 Unchained Melody! I'm 75 yrs and I every vinyl record they made. I still play their greatest hits CD in my car. ❤❤❤❤
The follow up to this song is their "(You're My) Soul & Inspiration". Then you absolutely have to check out Bill singing "I Just Wanna Make Love to You".
Honey. I feel like you could be one of my sons. My youngest is 23. You have so much empathy and appreciation for the music and lyrics of "the past". I just wish others could "listen". Really listen, like you have. You have my utmost admiration to take the time to appreciate past talents.
Another great reaction, your appreciation of the talent I grew up listening to makes an old(er) man very happy. Keep it going. Interesting snippet, one of the backing singers is a young lady called Cher.
The only word I can use to describe Bill Medley's bass baritone voice is "Magnificent". He could go low enough to vibrate your body for a minute then sound so mellow in the next verse and together with Bobby Hatfield's unique talent they are unparalleled to this day.
I was there then. When I was 14 we went to the local dance every Saturday night. I do not remember one week this song wasn’t played for me. I loved it that much. This song tells you why they were called Blue eyed Soul and I refuse to listen to the remake. No one did it better than these two and their music is still timeless. Listen to them singing You’ll Never Walk Alone. Thank you.
Now that you've heard them both, give a listen to "I Just Want To Make Love To You", which features Bill. This one is seriously righteous. Thank you for keeping "my" music alive - so happy you enjoy it!
You have a good appreciation for music, and since you've played an instrument, you'd enjoy Procol Harum " Whiter Shade of Pale" live in Denmark. Fantastic performance
Back in the day we were leaving their show and I said the applause was deafening and she said that the applause was loud but all the panties hitting the stage was louder lol maybe lol
Man, I enjoyed your reaction to this!! You had the biggest, most genuine smile the whole time. This was before my time as well, but closer than it to you!! Lol
Greetings from Australia. Bobby has a counter tenor voice and Bill has a bass baritone voice. Please check out another of their songs, my favourite, 'Soul and Inspiration' .Do you realise the JOY you bring to we 'oldies' when we see young people like yourself discovering the wonderful genre of popular music from yesteryear !?! . . . And when you are ready there is a whole new field of music from Australia that even older Americans know nothing about.
I have watched so many young people do reaction videos to the music from the '60s and '70s and 80s and so many of them say geez I wish I was born in those days and it's so true because you'll never know how much you really missed cuz today's music is nowhere near anything like it and I always wish there was a time machine that I could take you all back and let you live it all the way it was for us...great reaction by the way
You are right about the state of that relationship, she is already emotionally dethatched, and he is feeling the pain. From long and extremely painful experience, he can bring her back to the relationship, but only for a little while, and then she will drift again, and each time he brings her back it will be at greater cost to his own wellbeing. Ultimately he will have to let her go to save himself, and that will be followed by some horrible long nights. I was 9 years old when this was released and I heard it for the first time, and I have always loved it. But it has a different meaning for me now.
So happy to see younger people appreciate all kinds of music. That's a true love of this art. I really like some of what was going in in my mother's youth too, not just because it was really good, and it was, but because it transported me like time machine to a different time and what was going on then, WWWII, boogie woogie music, young people having good time dancing, they were young. Glad to subscribe, you are thoughtful and it comes through in your reactions.
The Righteous Brothers were ask to sing live on the popular Ed Sullivan Variety TV show. One of the songs they chose to sing was "You'll Never Walk Alone". The duo's talent is amazing. Your reactions are right on point. I subscribed.
BeeGees another great brothers group( BeeGees = Brothers Gibbs. Barry, Robin , and Maurice) from the late 50's through 70's.Can you please react to one of many of their songs: Too Much Heaven. Thanks.
MDreeezy... So glad you're reacting to one of the great songs of the 60s. In case you never heard it before, this is what's known as.... 'BLUE-EYED SOUL'
Try their songs Soul and Inspiration or Rock 'n' Roll Heaven the first was in the same period but the second is from the 70s, Both are great songs. I suggest the videos on these songs.❤
Some of the greatest music ever! Your right this is the Era where groups could actually sing ,not like all the over produced and auto tuned junk they have now. Also another song to listen to is Soul and Inspiration the live version 😊
hey google... what were the top 5 rock songs of 19xx...tons of iconic stuff ... beach boys - good vibrations... ac/dc - shoot to thrill... mamas and the papas - california dreamin... happy trails
The Righteous Brothers are not actually brothers they just pick up the name while performing and a black marine yelled out "That's Righteous Brother" Bill Medley is the Base-Baritone deep voice you are hearing, If you really want to hear Bill's base voice you have to watch "Soul and Inspiration" . Bobby Hatfield is a complete opposite rare Counter Tenor, you hear some of his high notes in this song. You can listen to more of Bobby's high notes in "Unchained Melody" and you can hear Bobby's full range in "Summertime" and a couple of notes he invented too LOL
as you continue your journey into music and the Righteous Brothers I would recommend listening to their song [ Little Latin Lupe Lu ] it's a very fun sound and will make want to get up and dance,Thanks for sharing this tune with all of us.
Completely different vibe but I hope you will check out Steely Dan - insanely talented musicians contributed to all of their songs. Musicians know their work
1964,when singers could sing, no auto tune, no computers, just talent, this wasn't special it was the norm. Skilled musicians. It makes me sad for younger people that have to put up with talentless twerps putting out any old crap for you to buy, you deserve to have real musicians/singers instead of toilet flushings💩
Young man, i think you are doing yourself an injustice listening to this particular version of this song, if you note in the YT title your watching, its an HiQ hybrid Remix, in short it means that its been reprocessed and has autotune etc applied to it post production, you really need to source and listen to artists and songs that are as close to the original as possible, otherwise you are doing yourself out of listening to this music as intended, which by the way is far better than these remixes give justice too. Just so you have context, anything created from 1997 onwards is likely to have autotune applied in production, anything from before that will not, this video was produced in 2015 from the original.
Actually, this video has the studio record replacing the live audio. The real live performance is on yt. I'll post it when I have a minute to locate it.
