Today I'm going to show you how to make an amazing, simple, easy, 2-ingredient body butter bar. It’s a hard stick that melts as soon as it makes contact with skin. The butter absorbs into skin immediately and it doesn’t leave a greasy residue afterwards. Stick or bar moisturizers are the best in my opinion. They're easy, convenient, and perfect for quick applications. I use self-tanner and it dries my skin out, especially on my legs so this stuff really came in handy. I also love how precise it is; I can apply the exact amount, exactly where I want it (I'm not left rubbing a big blob of moisturizer all over until it's finally absorbed into my skin like other moisturizers).
You'll need murumuru butter, which is a hard brittle butter, and raw coconut oil.
RECIPE: 100 grams murumuru butter, 100 grams expeller pressed raw coconut oil (solid at room temperature), and 10 grams fragrance oil [OPTIONAL].
The coconut oil makes the butter bar softer, more moisturizing, & makes the bar melt more readily on skin. You can add more or less depending on your preference. I would not substitute the murumuru butter because it's perfect for this recipe; it's a hard/brittle butter (perfect for bar/stick moisturizers) that melts easily on skin. But if you have to substitute murumuru butter, try a different hard/brittle butter like cupuacu or cocoa. Illipe is also a hard butter, but it did not work well for this (not for me anyways). I didn't add a preservative as this recipe doesn't contain water, however, you may add it if you wish.
Chop the butter into small flakes first so it melts faster. Melt the butter (I used a microwave) then blend in the coconut and fragrance oil - I do it this way to cool it faster. But you can melt everything together, let it cool, then add fragrance. Either way, make sure everything is mixed well and let it cool a bit before packaging. You'll know it has cooled when it goes from clear to an opaque white. This reduces chances of the butter leaking out of certain twist up containers - which I recommend for this project. Pour the butter into a container then cure the bars for 24 hours before using.
