EVO magazine started in 1998. In 2010, EVO named the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 their car of the year. EVO magazine had a special edition in October, 2014 for their 200th issue. They picked 20 cars over their 16 years of publication to represent the best of what EVO stands for, including CGT, GT2, LFA… Numerous journalist spent days, driving many miles in these cars…. In the end they picked the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 as THE car, the best among the best of the prior 16 years. Chris Harris is a motorsports journalist and an incredible driver. In a recent video named “The future of the Porsche 911”, the hosts asks Chris if he could only pick ONE 911 to have/drive, only one, what would it be? His response, the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8. I prefer the looks of the 997.1, especially the non-RS version with that weird wing... 😍 The 997.2 had better sounding engines in the whole lineup (very noticeable in the Turbo).

The period when I really dreamed of cars... The ultimate decade. Megane r26r, focus rs mk2, golf r32, 997 gt3 rs and gt2 rs, f430 scuderia, Nissan gtr, m3 e92 .... Design was crisp, feeling was still there, many different layouts, proper personality between each brand...

God damn, I had a day in one of these, slinging it around the back roads, hearing the engine hit redline before stomping on the heavy clutch and finessing the gear one ratio higher is a memory I will NEVER forget. Need to get one of these onto my channel ASAP. Great video!

I've played NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 a lot and the 997 is always the one that pops in my mind whenever I think about a GT3 RS.

The 991 GT3 RS had a 4.0 liter not a 3,6. The regular GT3 of the 991.1 had a 3,8. The last 3,6 was the 997.1 GT3/RS

Dad has a 997.2 4S in brown from december 2011. Awsome awsome car.

Had a C2S 997.2 a couple of years ago and my god do you need to be on top when that tail kicks out, had some scary moments for sure. It was some getting used to when i had only driven modern cars with systems that saves you a** all the time. Fun time tho!

Peak Porsche. The RS is almost a pure track car (RIP Sabine), whereas the GT3 is more suitable for road and track. Both are super raw. A world away from the approachable, VW owned 991s and supersized GT 992s. The 997.2 GT cars were the last of the true, great Porsches. As we transition to electric, there's an argument for these being the best ICE sports cars ever. A bargain considering the price of modern kit.
