And the reason why is actually quite funny, because uncorroborated by data. It is said that shoes must be worn for ‘hygiene’ and ‘safety’, but both are unsubstantiated. Moreover, the first ‘hygiene’ is used as a sort of blanket synonym for ‘anything the average person person thinks has to do with cleanliness’ but that is easily refuted by logic. A gym would be better off if it were mandatory to remove shoes upon entering the building and washing feet prior to entering the gym.
FYI : you can get socks too so your not barefoot inside the shoe so they don’t become stinky!! 😮Be aware of the size! I got a pair and they are so tight and difficult to get on and off so if possible go to a store and try them on first before you order on line. Also, if you have long toes it’s not so comfortable 😢 You almost have to have the perfect foot! 😂
I wanted to thank you for your revolutionary content. I really started to improve my feet because of you. Thank you so much man and keep them coming! ❤
@@karljiks Just search for "Tabi Steel Toe". Tabi is the style those split toe shoes are. That being said you'll have limited options since those Japanese companies don't see the benefit of selling then on foreign platforms due to the hegemony of the foot coffins.
@@stevewood5631 I have been wearing the insulated Vibram Five Finger shoes every day except in the rain. If it’s freezing cold I wear Injinji toe socks and that’s warm enough for me even for as cold as 10 Fahrenheit.
I'll wear toe shoes when I get the money for them, but currently, regular barefoot shoes are just more affordable. They're still foot-shaped, zero drop, with a thin and flexible sole, just no individual toe compartments.
Yes they are healthy for you "BUT BE CAREFULL YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR FEET IF YOU DO NOT TRANSITION PROPERLY" so please be careful I know we all love success but you still want to be able to walk to enjoy the benefits.
I just ordered a pair of five finger shoes!! I can’t wait to get them in! Honestly don’t care what people think I will wear these bad boys everywhere! lol I have been wearing barefoot shoes.
So do you wear toe socks with those or do they not really chafe somehow? (Genuine question) Also can you like throw them in the washer or something? Something tells me a shoe that goes between my toes will get stanky
instagram.com/reel/Cp8w6zbpvqS/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Toe socks all day!! The socks help prevent the smell like they would for any other shoe. I’m sure you could wash them if you need to, I haven’t had to yet!
One problem. They SMELL. The 5 fingers are the champion at trapping your sweat and gunks and cook them up. They're not drying up too quick either so frequent washing can be annoying.
@@Tatusiek_1 did you even think before typing? Of course I put them on with clean feet, but then I sweat and the 5 fingers trap.... you know what, I'm not gonna even bother lol Damn clown.
Hey man i've been walking and standing slightly intoed the past few months ever since i saw your video on how to walk properly. This also happened naturally as i started improving my mobility. I noticed my balance improving, and running and jumping becoming so much more efficient i feel like a feather now when i run lol. My feet feel so much stronger now. I can squat deeper as well. The first few days i made this change it felt like i was on steroids tbh.
No, not necessary to worry about the toes unless you have particularly unusual toes. But the sizing is slightly different to conventional shoes. Once you've tried on a pair, you'll know the sizing needs for all of that brand. The Euro sizing increments are quite small (as in half sizes for UK).
I have one the thing is when I get sore after a lifting day I use cushiony running shoe OR I’ll get more sore and unrecovered for the rest of the week! Yes barefoot is ideal BUT on a natural surface not concrete or rough surface that could have issues on its own!!
Fortunately there are plenty other barefoot shoes that don’t have individual spaces for your toes. I think one of the best alternatives might be something from Wildling, but there are many options so use what suits you! I can grab a link to a RU-vid video with more suggestions.
I bought exactly these yesterday as my first shoes after 8 year barefoot without shoes. They're a bit weird getting used to, and found out too late how import it is that this model should rather be too short than too large for toe grip
I've been going to the gym for several years and despite the common perception on the internet, I've always found them to be very positive environments where people are welcome, no one is made fun of, and actually everyone there will always encourage you to do your best and respect you for your will to improve yourself Despite all of that, if you show up with those shoes you will get made fun of If you want to be barefoot, I've never seen a gym that has any problem with people just wearing socks. And generally, a 10$ fabric shoe with a flat rubber sole will be perfect for most people and will add virtually no cushioning And at any rate, this is such a minimal impact thing no beginner to intermediate lifter should bother. Just wear whatever shoe you have, and take it off while doing squat/deadlift if it has a cushion. Let's not overcomplicate working out / convince people they need this or that specific piece of equipment in order to be working out "the right way"?
Well, sure but I have problems with my sciatic nerve so doing anything without foamy support on my heel will result in incredible pain that will last for days.
I LOVE my 5 fingers. I've worn them for more than 10 years. Walking, to work- they are great conversation starters, in the gym. Best thing I've ever done for my body putside of nutrition, of course.
Mejoré mucho mi técnica de carrera con sus enseñanzas. No entiendo bien el inglés pero tomo las ideas que comprendo. Muchas gracias por el contenido, de calidad 🌟
How do they hold up though? I would imagine the material is thinner and with all the flexing it breaks down faster. I don’t know though. I live in Florida where all my shoes basically melt after a couple of months. I've gone through so many shoes here that I keep 3-4 pair of cheap ones on hand in case the soles fall off the ones I'm wearing.
Didn’t Vibram settle their lawsuit for making these same statements and ended up changing these claims and even added a caution for those attempting to make the switch?
There is a process on how to build up the appropriate strength to transition from a Hoka style shoe to these. I have a bunch of videos on how to do so safely. It is not an overnight process. If you can’t wear shoes like these or be barefoot regularly, your lower legs are not as strong as they should be. And if that is case - the shoes you’re wearing are only hiding a problem!
@@thebarefootsprinter interesting, thanks for responding. This may seem like a weird question, but, are there differences in hard surface walking and beach(in sand) walking when it comes to building/maintaining these leg-to-foot muscles? (This is asked before I visit your vids previously mentioned)
Yes, the type of surface you’re training on matters. Especially when transitioning from a Hoka sized shoe to something more minimalist. If you’re on concrete, the extra padding in the shoe would be good to have. If you’re on a track, turf field, well maintained grass field, etc… more minimalist options here (or barefoot)!
I remember when Fuma (right?) First came out, but they only had 4 toes. I forget where, but I heard they had to combine the pinky and neighboring toe because it was causing damage by splitting them apart with that amount of material. Genuine question, but is that not a concern? Or is that not much of a factor?
10 years ago i broke both of my ankles 6 months a part from each other. I brought a pair of five fingers and they help tremendously with my recovery. Just walking in these will do wonders. I think I’ll buy another pair soon
I wish people took their shoes of to go in my gym. It's currently our rainy season and no one wipes their shoes as they come in from the dirt carpark. Brown dirt looks great on all the black rubber mats and treadmills.
What if im currently going through some minor plantar fasciitis in my left heel? I’ve never worn barefoot shoes and currently am wearing Hokas to minimize the pain. How does one transition? Should I wait until it goes it away completely? Should I downgrade slowly? Please reply
Wow this guy has amazing feet/toes. Glad to see Vibram FiveFingers making a comeback in the gym. Great when guys are using these vs. walking around in thru socks.
Nice for a walk outside. At my gym, I train with socks, much more feel when doing squats, split-squats, deadlifts etc. Seams like I set the example, bcs many people are doing it now 😅
Labeling shoe width should be mandatory by law. Even Vibram doesn't do it for these Fivefingers (I have a pair that is 4.5 inches wide and perfect. Then I got another pair and they were only 4 inches. Vibram does not want the public to know that the majority of their business is selling shoes and soles for shoes that do not fit, leading people to buy more shoes in search of eventually finding a single pair that actually fits.) This is corr_ption. That is not hyperbole.
Trust me , I warm up and do all my squats with good crocs . I check for the grip and I am using them, they are great and awesome . For running I change to running shoes . Crocs are affordable than these shoes , if you can afford then Whatver he is showing are the best !!!
"Oh I can’t imagine wearing toe shoes in public." while wearing sweats, shorts, or t shirts. Those were considered undergarments. Wear what you want and don't let vague, changeable societal rules stop you
I’ve owned many pairs of these and I had to give up on them due to their lack of durability. They are unrepairable and they are expensive especially when it comes to getting a new pair every few months due to the previous pair prematurely wearing out.
It would be wonderful if those fit my feet better. The bottom of my toe webbing isn’t straight across it goes back back back towards my little toe towards my heel. My little toe hardly fits in that at all and it’s very difficult. If they’re going to be like that it would be better to have single space for my fourth and fifth toe. Just saying, my brothers and sisters who have a prominent first toe might see that the supplies to them. I love my feet they’re just not like the Donatello statues.
I get the point but still disagree. Shoes force your feet into an unnatural state that is more efficient and effective. Hardcore powerlifters also fall into this trap when the muscle tonicity goes up so high they physically cannot squat their own bodyweight because their muscles have overadapted to squatting with heavy weights. The solution is to have recovery periods but not to ditch the entire sport or way of life altogether. Getting rid of foot dexterity so you can turb your foot into one giant spring at the cost of the inability to move in uneven terrain is good for most sports and everyday life. How many of you ever need the foot dexterity to step on radically uneven terrain???? Just rehab it every so often and then let it go back to being taped together by ligaments and tendons into one spring.
This is gym shoes and also called barefoot shoes after using modern shoes our toes are slightly getting out of place but these help out toes stay in place snd gives you a better grip than normal shoes its ideal to wear these shoes rather than normal shoes
These look awesome, but honestly if I feel like I need more stability or better traction with my feet on an exercise, just take off your shoes for a sec, barefoot is supreme
Totally Wrong. Most of the Gym shoes have flexible front toe box part which can modulate changes in pressure and foot position comfortably. Also, if anything falls on the foot, they get saved. No exercise in Gym requires all toes to be separated from each other and in different directions. So this is total bullshit😊
Don't be ridiculous. How is any gym shoe going to save your foot from a heavy falling object? Who said toe spread is 'required'? Sure, most exercises could be completed by forcing the toes to remain together, but that's not quite the same is it.
