I was diagnosed with ADHD last year at the age of 36 years old. Between medication and therapy I don’t have words for how at peace and quiet my brain is now. I can have less now and thrive with less. I am so proud of how quiet my life is now. ❤

I’ve been thinking about getting tested for this. But I keep talking myself out of it by saying “I would have known/been diagnosed when I was a kid” I’m 31. My thoughts and just literally everything in my head is so so chaotic. And I feel I can’t ever get them in order. And because of this, I feel I cant accomplish things I know I CAN do, I just can’t. I don’t even know how to describe it. You have me really feeling like I should go get tested. Not even sure where to start or what to ask but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this! “The quiet in your brain” is what I would love to experience one day.

@@gabbiemartin3091 if you are able I think you should look into it and gather as much information and details possible! I suffered a head injury 🤕 and something about that exacerbated my ADHD symptoms like major. After a few years of trying to navigate post head injury life I realized a lot of it felt like a mosh posh of anxiety, hyperactivity, impulsivity, excitement etc and I was struggling to know what was what. In this journey which was not easy I had to fight and advocate for myself and find loop holes in ways to get referrals etc but it was totally worth it. Wishing you the best! It was one heck of a journey that I have ZERO regrets about 🤍

@@gabbiemartin3091 I can so relate to what you’re saying here! May i ask if you are struggling with any gut issues? I’m on a healing journey with IBS-C. And i do believe there is a connection between our minds and our gut.

Never thought about decluttering my brain, but this presentation was so helpful. Thanks so much Ron, you are such a huge help to so many of us, and very much appreciated.

My journal is titled the road never travelled. Quite fitting. The format allows me to unclutter emotionally. I place no limit on how much I write daily and like to write small. Something about writing small in a journal when describing how I am tweaking things.

When minimalism became a go-to method for everything in my life, I was able to find some positive and negative benefits because not everything in life is fixable... my emotions, I know, are temporary. They don't define who I am, but whenever I find myself stuck in them at a moment's notice, it's not always easy to build that momentum or resistance into letting them pass. All of this is to say that while this whole video is greatly appreciated and gave me a different perspective on mental health, the process of letting go and not holding onto negative or toxic emotions needs to be flexible since not everybody thinks and feels the same way. Thank you for sharing your own thoughts and insights on the matter, Ronald! ❤️

Are there books for emotional vocabulary expansion that anyone can recommend?
@kirkdahl6912
@kirkdahl6912 Год назад
Yes, Atlas of the Heart by Brené Brown. She identifies and describes 87 emotions commonly experienced. She makes a convincing case on why we should practice naming our experiences with a wider emotional vocabulary instead of defaulting to the three most common words, which are happy, mad, and sad. She also has an accompanying HBO special specific to this book where she talks through some of the emotions with an audience and provides example clips from popular movies.
