We check out the coolest Toyota ever made. The top of the line luxury model that is of the level of a Rolls Royce or a Bentley. And it also comes with Toyota's one and only V12 Engine!
The Toyota Century. A swan song of everything Japanese. A very cool luxury car that initially won't wow you or really bring your attention until you start looking at the finer details.
It has always been my belief that the Toyota Century is a moving work of art. We take a look at a beautiful 1997 Toyota Century V12.
Even though this is a 25 year old car, that V12 is very much a Toyota engine. Whisper quiet and smooth.
Special thanks to the owner Tim who brought us this special car and allowed us to film and share the car with you.

Daylin, Unless parts availability become an issue. Even if you are lucky enough to source from Japan, there's still the time (ship) and/or cost (jet) to get them here. It's surprising/discouraging that Ahmed mentioned the difficulty getting an oil filter for it. That's a key part. I hope he does another video as he attends to the oil leaks it's there to be fixed. It's a special car for sure. Probably not the best choice as a daily driver. Maybe reserve it as a daily driver for 3 seasons so it's not exposed to our salt. Great video though! Ahmed, I suspect you may get to own this very car in the future.👍🙏

If you get the copper historic license plate, you will not need ADEQ inspection. Look up Hagerty. Do not go to MVD "services" subcontracting agencies. go directly to a MVD/ADOT Government operated office. Before you buy Hagerty Historic vehicle insurance, you must visit an MVD/ADOT Government operated office FIRST. I have the Az copper historic plate on my 4Runner 32 years old. See my other comment explaining what the rear microphone in the rear center console is used for. Those forward sideview mirrors on each fender totally eliminate blind spots. Excellent excellent presentation. I have never heard of this car and just love hearing about unique automobiles like this. Parts service would be a nightmare but I suppose if you had this car you could afford it. I’m sure mechanics can’t stand those fender mounted mirrors because it looks like it’s in the way when you’re trying to get to the engine bay. Excellent educational video. Love it!

It looks like the 2018 Century runs about $180,000, and uses the motor from the Lexus LS600H hybrid. 375Hp gas, plus 50Hp electric. I read that they made a 2018 Left hand drive model just for the Japanese Ambassador to France.

The latest Century runs the same entire drivetrain as the Lexus LS600H hybrid, so it's no longer as special as the previous model with the exclusive V12 engine; they sell for about 150k in Australia, which is 100k USD.

Thank you for showing your dream car. I'm very curious if you would do a segment on RHD JDM Toyotas. Not just the sport cars, but moreso the touch on practical aspects for JDM pros and cons. You know practical driving, maintenance and repair tips.

They have a phone app, that when you view the Japanese writing through your camera it translates it to English. If you're going to do more international car reviews you might want to download it 😉

Its called "Photo Translator" actually. I use it when I look at japanese...drawings. Even if the writing is stylized, simply take a picture and an english translation pops up. I haven't seen that functionality from google translate but it may exist

@@clockhanded Its a part of "google lens" and it does it live no need to take a photo, it super imposes the text on screen. I have had the feature for years but I do have a pixel phone

There are probably a dozen apps by now that do this. The most popular are “Google Translate” (by Google for Android, iPhone & iPad) and just “Translate” (by Apple for iPhone & iPad). They are both free unlike most of the others.

You said something that confirmed what I have believed all my life. I have never owned a car with more than a FOUR speed automatic transmission, They are the BEST. Smooth, reliable and no hunting for gears and not complicated. My 06 Accord has one, my 05 Titan p/u has one and my old 86 Merc Grand Marquis had one. never a breakdown and smooth as butter to drive. This Toyota proves it! Thank you! PS: My old Dodge had a 3 speed TorqueFlite. Maybe the BEST of all!

Ahhhh...the shape.reminds me of the 1969 Toyota CORONA and the Toyota CROWN our family had in Pakistan. The I have never seen a Corona and/or Crown here in the US. The Corona had 4 headlights (two round ones on each side) and was a deep blue color. I loved riding in them both. I was about 6-7 years of age.
