For as long I've been reviewing football boots, I've always stressed the importance of using the proper stud pattern for whichever playing surface you regularly play on. In 2022, artificial grass is extremely common, where as AG specific boots and stud patterns are not. While I can't make them more readily available, I can tell you which ones you should be looking at.
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 15 Elite with the AG-Pro stud pattern! It brings pack the slightly longer hollowed out AG stud design famously worn by Neymar a few years ago, and combines it with the new Air Zoom tech of the latest Mercurial, making for what I would argue is the BEST AG soleplate and stud pattern ever made! It's a bold statement, I know, but let me explain why I think it's so good.

Tore my ACL my freshmen year of college. Used a pair of FGs on a natural grass field, in a cold 45’F day. Ever since, I’ve worn exclusively AG boots no matter the field type. My ankles hurt less after playing, my knees are healthier than ever and I actually feel lighter on my feet when I wear these on AG fields. Buy AG Boots

I bought these, my only complain is that the insole seems to move in the boots. Feels like it’s shifting left and right when I do quick cuts. Other than that it feels good (after breaking it in). Best for narrow feet but also a bit forgiving

I do not understand why Nike don’t sell the AG stud pattern in the US. Virtually every pitch is synthetic here. Meanwhile the UK and Europe have plenty of grass pitches and they get the AG sole pattern…

Definitely buy ag boots for artificial grass. I am a goalkeeper and always injure my ankle when diving in fg boots on sg pitches. They lock the ground too much and refuse to let go when I dive suddenly.

My only worry with the speed portals is the shape of the studs on the AG variant. They've kept a more bladed shape, not as agressive as the Pred Edge design, but I question why they would deviate from the design they had standardized on a few years ago. The carbitex insert is amazing to see added, but I don't understand the stud shape change they made.

@@Leftycpe the actual Adidas HG soleplate (only available in Japan) and previous AG soleplate were conical studs low tech 0 work from Adidas. The actual Adidas AG soleplate has the same new tech than the FG one, with more studs and shorter than the FG ones. Really a great improvment

I got the post world cup white/blue pair and within 10 sessions, I started getting visible cracks on the side of the cleat below the ball of foot. The AG pitches I've played on are just not as soft and a bit older. So if the AG you play on is grass like and FG could work, then these AG pro are top notch. I'll be trying out the Vapor 14 AG specific model to see how it holds up next.

got the same problem mate i boughts vapor 15 ag and the just hold for 1 and a half month the literally cracked the sole. i just bought the ag vapor 14 and gave the vapor 15 back. can you say are the vapor 14 much better ? did they still hold on you and are trustworthy ?

I wore the hypervenom 2 fg with chronicle studs on turf otherwise known as ag and tore my acl in a match. I was depressed during the healing process. Wish I should had gotten an ag boot during that time lol because I had the hypervenom 1 and superfly 5 as well. 🙃

Josh you recommend the vapor 15 elite AG for both ag and fg. My question is what about the extra weight that the shoe will add when the fg is a bit wet and there is a little mud? The ag sole is rounded and hollow and will carry more mud than the fg sole.

Just ordered my pair today from Unisport! I've noticed I'm a bit more sensitive to the impact on turf since turning 30 and while some of that can be down to footwork and training being less regular, I think some of it just comes with the miles my body has on it playing on turf most night of the week every winter for over a decade here in the US. Very excited to see how they do, and the bar is set very high by this review. As stated in other comments if Nike would sell AG in the US they would absolutely clean up in the market when it comes to AG.

if they break, you can send them back in to Nike and get a voucher for the retail price of the cleats. I think you have 2 years from the manufacture date on the inside of the cleat to send it in.

I tested them for the first time for practice and the field was wet. Now looking at the air zoom it looks like water has got inside of the pod of that makes sense. Is that normal ?

Mine just arrived today. Heel feels too wide for a Merc and there’s too much material on the lateral side towards the rear of the boot- something I’ve never had with previous generations of Merc. Zoom unit feels great though so I’m hopeful that over time I’ll wear them in rather than develop blisters.

Absolutely love them mate. Much more comfortable than the Vapor 13s or even 14s. The excess material thing disappeared after a few wears and the Zoom unit still feels ace. Crisp touch as you’d expect from a Mercurial. Feet don’t feel unpleasantly squeezed.

yes bro, make sure you always play in conical studs from now on whether it's an FG boot or an AG boot. but you can defo use AG boots on natural grass but just won't be as much traction as an FG boot will offer you

Any conical pattern is gonna be safer on ag or grass for you . Blades are overrated I feel faster and more agile in my hypervenom 1s than my vapor 13s
