Coming into the 2021-2022 season, PSG was thought to be the most fearsome club in the world. But now, this superteam looked more and more like a disappointment. Do they have what it takes to become the world's best club, or are they a failure? Here's why I think they were a failed superteam last season.

So everyone knows I’m not hating on Mbappe or PSG, it’s just what I see and some constructive points. It would be incredibly fun to see them at their full potential next season even as someone who isn’t a supporter. Also don’t mind the title and thumbnail, just had to make it a little controversial you know how it is on RU-vid 💀 love yall ❤️

They might have the best front three on paper, but it's clear that they have yet to truly mesh. In Barcelona, the team was designed to function for Messi, but in PSG it's for Mbappe. Not to mention, while they have great players, their defenders and midfielders are not on the same level as the other big teams like Liverpool, City, Bayern, Madrid and etc. It's still a team that is run by individuals. It's just a fancier and well oiled version of Ole's United. Besides, super teams that is run by individuals rarely, if ever work

But football has stopped being football for many years now, it's all about investments, corrupt capitalism and blood money.
@havefaithinjesuschristjesu1359
The team was not designed for Messi. His teammates just knew him inside out. They played for together for a long time together. Even when a new player joined , they knew how Messi played because of his chemistry with his old teammates. At psg, he had to start almost at 0. Exactly. People love to blame the big names but the attack and even the midfield which needs some improvement did really well vs real. Real basically got completely destroyed the first leg but courtois pulled out an insane performance so they only scored one. The 2nd leg they started the same way but then first donnarumma completely bottled it, and then marquinhos, the one who's usually the most reliable gave away another goal for free. Good points on the video, what really let's down psg in big games is not just the mentality but their defensive frailties become even more apparent. Psg and man City are glass cannons, yea they pack a punch but they're very easy to break and have no resistance to sustained pressure. Even with winners like donnaruma and navas in goal, the midfield and defense simply fall apart and well with the 3 biggest egos up front, they're not putting any defensive work really so the team is more or less short handed whole game

The only way to defend with Messi and ney on ur team is to always attack. Push numbers very high so if u lose the ball you lose it in tight spaces that can be closed down quickly. Don't let anyone except Messiand and veratti take risks in the deep midfield. Once you let the game devolve into chasing and counterattacking, psg are done.

But the trio comparison with Brooklyn Nets is a little bit off. The Brooklyn trio played only 26 games together I guess and still won about 20 games. So their chemistry was good. They were all injured At different times and couldn’t play all the games together and still qualified for play offs and beat Celtics with ease. The comparison could be better if it was compared with Lakers. Lebron, Westbrook and Davis. They didn’t even qualify for the play offs. Westbrook is never passionate about playing basketball just like Mbappe

However, he is clearly very immature and egotistical. And I think that’s a bit problem with the team, considering he basically owns it now. With Luis Campos appointed, PSG is no more signing big names. We've seen with their new signings (Vitinha, Renato Sanches(pending, Skrinar(pending). I think they've also taken account of how weak thier midfield was and how the team needs to be a family hence the new strict rules by the hierachy. I would'nt write them off. The only real exceptional future quality i see in that team is Mbappe but he will never develop as a player in that circus club. PSG has a very average midfield, defense and goalkeeper. Even on paper clubs like Real Madrid are far better, from attack to the goal keeper.
@muhammadshahmeerqureshi6150
Thing is Messi is 35, Neymar 30, so the MSN magic being recreated to the same deadly level was not possible cz neymar now injury prone, Messi doesn't have the speed of old and not the same deadly finisher anymore, only mbappe is at a time of his career where he can be doing incredible things. It's the formation which is the problem. In 4-3-3 formation, wingers and striker are not the only important player. The most important players is central midfielder. Because in this formation striker gets easily isolated if you're relying him on too much. Also it's difficult for winger to score goal because most of the time they have to take diagonal shots which are difficult to execute. One more thing they can do is crossing but for that you need really good player with incredible strength and heading accuracy which their forwards lack. So here comes the role of central midfielder because they can exploit the space in middle and either take a shot or can create chance for a striker to score a goal with their through passes.
