@@chrishaugh1655 maybe this is unfortunate for some, but Goodyear is free to classify their products any way they choose… it may be confusing for some, but for others that do a little bit of research it’s not that big of a deal. Goodyear’s Territory MT stands for, “Maximum Traction.” It’s not rated as a 3-peak tire, either. Quite a few manufacturers are using them as OEM tires because of their on-road performance… they’ll be included on Toyota’s Tacoma TRD Pro and Trailhunter trim levels.
Their on road performance really is great. Their off road performance is good as well from what I experienced. They are just so weak and that’s their downfall
@@OFFTHEGRIND ... agree 💯 . If I were wheeling more than the occasional weekend warrior, those OEM tires would have to be swapped out immediately for more durable rubber... unfortunately, that's going to bring heavier tires with increased road noise.
Thanks for your honest thoughts. I was considering this tire for my Rubicon until reading what others had to say and what you covered in your great review. I've also read where others have said the "MT" stands for "Maximum Traction" and not Mud Terrain. The Goodyear Territory tread pattern more closely resembles a hybrid RT tire tread. Great choice on replacement tires with the Falken R/T 01's. Probably will wind up pulling the trigger on Falken Wildpeak AT4W's. Just subscribed to your channel, especially after watching your Idaho winter adventure in the snow and what you had to go through with your Bronco's steering freezing up! Wild.
I had heard that too but I think that’s really dumb. But I should have probably said it anyways. Despite that I’m just kit a fan, and I know others don’t like them either. The falkens are great. In my experience I like the nittos a little more because they are a little softer and a little quieter than the falkens were and perform very similarly in my experience. I think the falkens are better suited for heavier rigs, but they are still an awesome tire! And thanks for subbing man!
The goodyears are not mud terrains, they are all terrains. If you wanted a great all around mud terrain you should have went with Yokama Geolander MT's.
I've had the AT3W's on another rig, love them. I just got the RT's for my 100 series. Had them in unexpected snow, sand, dirt, and gravel. Very happy so far and less noise on the road than I expected. Good luck with yours!
I hated these tires at first just because they threw rocks like crazy. After 5-8K miles on them that slowed way down as far as throwing rocks. I have a buddy with Rubicon unlimited and his KO2 actually collected more rocks on some of our off road trips. I have used mine aggressively on many off road trails and no punctures yet they seem to be way tougher than I had thought. I think there weakness is mud and I don't do much mud mainly Colorado and Utah. I have grown to like these tires a lot and picked up a set of take offs with no miles for $700 I thought it was a great deal!
My first four wheel drive was an ‘09 Tacoma, fishing the backcountry roads was a crash course in tires! Think of athletes: their performance starts with the shoes they wear, baseball, ballet, track, it doesn’t matter, starts with the shoes! Why would your vehicle, off-road, street performance, frigging mini van, be any different??? Quality tires affect everything about your vehicle and driving experience, spend the money folks! Rant over 😉
Love my KO2s on my Base did the snow just fine last year and looking forward to another great season! I've also had bad experiences with Goodyears as well, I will NEVER have Goodyears on any of my vehicles.
I was led astray by your clickbait headline. This has nothing to do with the bronco and everything to do with the tire. This seems to be the norm for you: no content, tons of useless information.
It is about the tire. The tire that comes on the bronco. Therefor, it’s the worst thing about the bronco. I feel like I’m teacher in kindergarten. Check out “songs for littles”. Might be more your speed
Ive had Falken Wildpeaks and absolutely loved them. Mine were A/T3's. They performed absolutely flawlessly for my little adventure park trails and the mud holes I went through. I would rate Falken on about the same level at Nitto's, unfortunately, theyre both very expensive at $378 per in my area. The RT01's are $400 per tire, so $2000+ is a bit steep for 5 new shoes.
Baja Boss AT might be the perfect tire for the PNW. I switched from the Kenda Klever RT which might be one of the best tires for the money ever, and is also a great tire for the PNW. The only reason for switching was I went up a size and found a used set of Baja Boss AT for a good price.
Love the MPG i get with my 4Runner and they do great if u dont go offroading alot. They are alot better then any street tire but not as good as a true All Terrain but will do great for a nice camping trip or quick off road sesh with the boys.
I’m at 25000 miles on mine OEM Sasquatch tires. I agree they can be delicate. I have two in tread punctures both easy repairs. Since I only do weekend trips, At this point I’ll stick them out until they are fried. Falken or Toyo is on deck to replace them
Yeah, I mean they’re probably fine for that depending on how far off the grid you get. I’m about to spend a week in the Idaho backcountry so not about to risk it in that environment lol
Agree with everything you said in the video. My number one issue was picking up rocks. Drove me crazy. Also I did not have confidence in the tire when off road. Just had a gut feeling I was going to lose one every time I went out. Thank you for posting!
Your expectation aren't in line with reality. It's a stock tire designed for mostly on road comfort & mileage. I do think they shouldn't be labeled "MT" as they're not actually a mud terrain.
I haven't even placed my order in for a Silverado Trail Boss yet (they come with these tires), but I've already priced out rims and tires to immediately swap out as soon as I bring it home from the dealer
OEM tires are all about marketing and mpg. I doubt most test drives involve lots of mud and deep snow. More like quiet ride and decent handling on paved roads. But hey, it could have been worse. Remember the Firestone/Explorer debacle?
KO2's is what i have had for the last few trucks, Good in snow, good in mud and never had the side slide issue mentioned. But i had the same issues in clay, Only tire that will work in clay is a Mudder, i don't know of many if any all-terrains will handle clay. Thanks for the review.
Not just picking up rocks, I just ran over a rock on the road and it put a hole and flatted one of the rear tires. Previously I found a piece of wood stuck into one of the treads sideways.
They are total garbage. I got a Snap-on open end ratchet wrench through the tread on one and had to replace it. I replaced it with a KO2 since I run KO2 tires in the winter. I also notice a lot more side roll because they are so soft.
Good video. My buddy had these on his Sasquatch and replaced them with Toyo MTs, then gave me the Territoty's. I live in the Denver metro and we have had some decent snow recently, and to be honest they have been pretty good surprizingly! My old tires wore out and instead of paying a second mortgage for new tires I decided to go with these. Offroad they are not too bad either but like you said, lacking that extra sidewall ply always gives the pucker factor. I am going to drive on these like I stole them then put Nitto Exo's back on my Rubicon. Take care
Two slow-leak flats in 22k miles. I wish I had seen this before hand. Listen to this man, ditch the stock tires unless you like having your day spoiled. I was quite remote in Nevada once and more close to a shop the second time. Going with no spare (given the flat) is something I worry about when I'm solo so each time it ruined the day.
I'm ashamed to say I had another for a total of three flats due to rocks in the sipes! So I got the Falken Wildpeak r/t 01s 35/12.5 on a stock Wildtrak Sasquatch. Fits great and not a single rock in the much beefier sipes after a long rocky trip. I have high hopes that this will fix the unforced error of leaving the stock tire on.
Great review of the Goodyear sasq tires , thank u very much , for my needs I find them a great tire , do everything pretty good is all that’s needed , being the lightest 34.5 inch tire has my 2.7 just screaming through the gears 👍😃.After a couple 1000 miles the rock flinging isn’t nearly as bad as new and best thing of all is U pick up these as other peoples take offs for dirt cheap , love negative reviews on things I like buying 🍺
Not sure if you’re being a troll or not lol. The crazy thing about tires is they perform differently for everyone based on a ton of factors. I’m glad these work for you. And they worked well for me too. But as someone who spends a LOT of time off road, they are not strong enough to get it up with the abuse. A pebble took one out
Where in WA are you? I'm in Port Orchard. I'm looking for a good overland shop to either work on my Gen 3 Raptor and/or pick up reasonable deals on overland related equipment for my Raptor.
Good years suck period the end . I was a tire shop Manger. They suck for mileage, wear to quick . Go with Cooper discover at or stt or BFG ko3 you won't be sorry .
I have hated the look of the stock Sasquatch tires since day one. They should have at least put KO2s on them. If they had gone with Recon Grapplers that would have been a win but OEMs are beholden to Goodyear and BFG for some reason.
I have 44k on my Wildpeak MT01 and they are still in very good condition. Very excited to see your review on those RT’s after you get some miles on them. 🤘
I made the mistake of installing the e rated Milestars on my Pro. Took them off at 1k miles. They were way to stiff for my truck. Even aired down to 10lbs they rode terribly. Im super happy with my c rated Duratracs now.
These are what I want for my Badlands. What do you think of the tires? I’ve got 27k miles on the Goodyears so coming up on time to replace in the next year or so probably. I’ve heard really good things about Baja A/Ts besides the Mickey Thompson price tag…
@kolache09 they are as aggressive as my Yokohama geolander M/Ts but have much better wet road, snow and ice traction. Its a little loud on the road but worth it on the trails. The lugs clear out well from rocks and gravel compared to other A/Ts I've owned
The MT doesn't stand for "Mud-Terrain". It actually stands for "Maximum Traction". It confuses a lot of people because it's an MT and we've always associated MT as a Mud direct tire. True Mud terrain tires have large lugs to allow the mud to be thrown from the tire at high RPM's to allow more "Bite" to continue momentum.
I’ve heard this claim a lot. I’ve tried looking in to it but I can’t find anything on their website or fords saying that that’s what the stands for. Then on discount tires website, they specifically call it a mid terrain. So I’m very confused by this haha
@@OFFTHEGRIND yeah, that is weird. When the Bronco first came out in 2020, both ford and goodyear mentioned that the MT stood for Maximum Traction, but i can't find it now. The reviews also showed the tires were softer which isn't good for longevity and also causes a lot of chunkin of the tires. The softer compound sticks better over rocky terrain, but also destroys the tires prematurely. You were right to change them. That is the first thing I'm doing to my Bronco.
not gonna lie they dont look like true MT tyres.... like id imagine they would accel in A/T conditions and even in medium Mud but a true MT would be better
I'm currently considering the same. At 25k miles and have had to do more off road tire repairs than I care to count. Was on a two week trip to Montana and one got a puncture large enough that it needed two plugs/cords to stop. That was the last straw. How is the increased noise with these R/Ts? Like you said I'm willing to sacrifice weight for durability, but noise will wear on me.
I honestly haven’t noticed an increase in noise. The ride quality has suffered, as has the gas mileage, but I’ll take that knowing that I’ll be able to get off the trail.
Thanks for the video. Great review of the Goodyears. I am also looking to replace mine. I have a 2 door WT and my wife has a 4 door WT. I love the idea of the RT01. The weight is what is holding me back. The KO2s are still heavier than the Goodyear, but at 62 lbs., lighter than the RT01s. Waiting for a review of the off road and on road drivability of them.
.... 2 min in, clear you dont know what all terain tire is and mud tire. Goodyear terrain Max Traction, at monpoint they were advertised ir called mud tire. Have name complaint talk to Ford, their idea becouse surname wrangler on tires.
@@merkubuilt I did. I also said I actually liked how they road and handled in most condition. My biggest complaint is how weak they are. They chunk and split like crazy. So I think they’re a good commuter tire if you want to look like you off road, but because of how brittle they are, not an good tire for actual offroading
@OFFTHEGRIND it's load C tire, mud tires are load E. Other All terain tires come in both C and E. C load is lighter tire by 6 to 10 lbs, mpg tire. You can't compare lower ply count load C tire to higher ply count load E tire, its different animal. This is great tire for rating that it's rated. As in All terain tire and as load C tire.
@merkubuilt this wasn’t a comparison. It was a I hate these tires for this reason and this is what I got to replace them. Seems like you’re looking for an argument. You should look elsewhere cause I’m not interested
@OFFTHEGRIND I was in the black Pete, it was cool to see you, hopefully on your was to an awesome upcoming video, I'm a baby overlander, I found your channel when I was debating a bronco or the 4runner. I ended up with the 4runner, your channel is inspiration for me, someday I hope to make videos about epic adventures too.
@@taylorasbell7074 yeah man I was on my way to Idaho to explore for a few days! Sounds sick though man. The 4Runner is a great platform. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for content
"pretty good gas mileage." Yeah, you lost me there! I regret nothing about my Bronco, but I knew going into it gas mileage would be abysmal.....and it is. I'm not complaining, just pointing your 'good gas mileage' quip was hilariously wrong and cringe.
