It's not the EU's fault. Their position is to discourage any future countries who think of taking this course of action which is understandable. The first person I would blame is David Davies our first EU negotiator who for two years did nothing and now wants to be leader of the Conservatives. Good grief. FrankChickens - there are many valid arguments made in defence of BREXIT - I am sure you have read some of them - but have you noticed how remainers tend to focus on abuse and non-comments (like yours) - there is clear evidence here that the leave vote was considered and based of an understanding of the issues in contrast to remainers - who were just voting for the status quo (lack of confidence) - hopefully a lot of remainer are starting to understand just how shallow their position was - unless you have something sesnsible to offer? I am not holding my breath - but feel free to saying something intelligent - if you know what that entails.

We, the British public didn't vote in any referendum to become members of a vassal state and being dictated to by undemocratic and unelected (by us) overpaid overlords. Get your facts right and get a real perspective on what happened. We now know the deception that was perpetrated on the UK. In the Brexit Referendum, we voted OUT of this debacle... no deal or strings attached was even muted. Get on with the NO DEAL EXIT.

I would also hint you to the Treaty of Rome, which was one of the founding treaties for the European Community - it pretty much starts with a declaration of intention of forming an "ever-closer union".

We want to leave the E.U a supranational political union which is not the same as Europe a continent with many different cultures and nations.

Nothing to do with empires of old as many European countries had at the time, For me its about accountability ,national sovereignty, and not wanting pollical union which in the long term in my opinion will fail, I am sorry I just don't recognise the authority of Barnier, Juncker and Tusk in making decisions that effect my country.

Ich glaube es gibt da mehr Gründe als nur Gurken und Migranten... Die EU ist eine von Lobbyisten gelenkte Bürokratie, für die das Parlament nur noch eine fast schon nicht existente Hürde ist, um irgendwelche verpflichtenden (!) Richtlinien für die EU-Staaten durchzudrücken. Wer die EU als System gründlich recherchiert hat, sollte das eigentlich wissen. Schlimmer gemacht wird es auch noch, weil die Parlamentarier meistens nicht mal eine Ahnung haben, wozu sie da eigentlich zustimmen, wie es sich ja letztens bei den Artikel 11 und 13 Abstimmungen mal wieder gezeigt hat. Des weiteren macht diese gesamte Umzugsparade von Brüssel nach Straßburg die EU deutlich Umwelt- und Steuerzahlerunfreundlich, als sie sein müsste. Natürlich sind der Binnenmarkt, vereinheitlichter Verbraucherschutz, eine einheitliche Währung (obwohl ich davon weniger Ahnung habe) und andere EU-Projekte gute Sachen, aber manche Leute legen eben mehr Wert auf politische Selbstbestimmung und eine Welt in der ihre Leben nicht von Eurokraten und Lobbyisten beeinflusst und bestimmt wird, als auf diese Vorzüge. Ich selber habe zum Beispiel nichts gegen die meisten dieser Sachen und befürworte die Idee eines europäischen Staatenbündnisses grundsätzlich, aber nicht in Form der EU. Wenn man nicht mal in der Lage ist eine ausreichende Menge der Gründe zu erkennen, warum Leute raus wollen könnten und das Ganze daher auf Unwissen, Kleinlichkeit und Angstverhalten in der Hälfte der britischen Bevölkerung schieben muss, ist man selbst vielleicht wirklich derjenige, der #keineAhnungVonDerEU hat...

Wer hier glaubt ernsthafte Kritik an "Lobbyismus" zu sehen, der guckt nur mit einem Auga hin. PolitikerInnen wissen nicht genau, worüber sie abstimmen? Das ist normal. Wir reden hier von hunderten Gesetzesentwürfen - umfangreichere Projekte enthalten da auch gerne mal einige hundert Seiten. Und die wurden Monatelang von ausgewählten ExpertInnen bearbeitet. Erstmal Zeit haben, das alles zu lesen und dann kann man da sowieso nichts dran ändern. Wer schonmal in der Schule eine Gruppenarbeit gemacht hat, weiß: Bereits mit 4 Leuten, ein einfaches Plakat (mit Bildern) zu entwerfen kann ein paar Stunden dauern. Und jetzt mit hunderten Parlamentarieren einen dutzende Seiten umfangreichen, juristisch ausgefeilten Gesetzestext entwerfen? Das ist unmöglich. Deswegen gibt es Ausschüsse, in denen das geschieht. In die Ausschüsse gibt man die Verantwortung ab und weil man die Verantwortung abgibt, stimmt man danach häufig einfach auf Parteilinie. Das ist so vom Familienfest, über den kleinen Verein bishin zur Weltpolitik. Und da die Briten mit Fehlinformationen und Lügen für den Brexit gestimmt haben, ist es regelrecht lächerlich, sich über PolitikerInnen zu meckern, die mit mangelndem Hintergrundwissen an Abstimmungen teilnehmen.

Sadly our own government opposed giving workers decent terms and conditions compared to their EU counterparts. I am not in favour of it - but it also does have advantages like (usually) clear majorities in parliament and understandable political alternatives, a government and a government in spe, ready to take over with a different agenda. So far, so theoretical. Nevertheless a referendum only works for smaller issues, for simple questions, otherwise it is simplifying politics too much. And the whole Brexit campaign - and counter campaign - was nonsense. Brexit means leave. Yes - and how, what, when and at which costs? They didn't bother. Thats irresponsible from the very beginning. And it is so weird to see, from the outside, how irresponsible they continue to speak about this is a superficial way, using empty phrases. Well, guys, that time to do so is over by far... But what I generally mean, is: public votes on single policies are not always a good idea in the name of democracy... Besides: let me express my sympathy with those who voted to remain - and let me tell you I feel sorry for you! Brexit will come in one or the other way, obviously in the harshest way possible. But I hope all those in favour of this will know better some day - majorities can change. A huge mess seems to be inevitable, but there is always a way out (or: back). Don't give up ;)

It's satire and has a sting to it. But you are right, many germans are sad for those brits who didn't want the brexit. But a hard brexit is needed for showing the rest of the union, that there will be no advances to leaving the EU. Still sad for the people who suffer from it :/
